Not the first time I have bought glasses from them but will be the last time. I originally bought my two pair when they first came to Tyler and it was an ordeal. I always give a company two chances. So i bought two pair of bifocals about a month ago cost that was told to my wife was around 150.00 I came out spending over 600.00 dollars with eye exam and they were progressive lens. Went back today to get one pair adjusted and the lady was rude and I felt that I was an inconvenience to her. I also asked for one of their hard cover cases because I advised her I was going overseas and needed something a little more durable because mine came in the plastic ones, that do not close properly and fall apart and she advised me they were out and do not know when they will be getting any. Needless to say my friend owned his own store with his dad before they had to shut down because it was a mom and pop store and could not compete any longer with all the eye companies but at least they knew their customers and were friendly to them. My advice may not mean anything to anyone but I will never do business with them again. read more

After making an appointment for 6 and another for 615 I figured about 15 min per person for a eye exam. Wrong out of there with 2 scripts in a bit over 2 hrs. The exam was over a Skype/FaceTime connection where a tech on a screen asks if it is better or worse. Very impersonal who knows if I was in the right position or if the script is good. My son was Skyped by someone different but our scripts were signed by the same off premises dr. When it was after closing time and we just wanted the script it seemed like a pretty weird dynamic where the we're trying to pressure a sale. I will not go back in there. Vision works was very personalized and explained all the pricing options and worked with me to get the best price for my situation. read more

I went there twice first time they could not figure out my insurance and they were closed when they tried to call. (I understand that was not their fault.) The second time though I called to make an appointment and specifically asked them to call my insurance to verify everything and they did, they even called me back to tell me they called them. Once got there i told who i was and told them i would be using my insurance Health first. So they proceed to ask me who my provider was and i said you have already called them and should have it all. The girl there says well i need your provider and your card says you dont have insurance, but how is that since you called and I called and we both verified. Not going back and do not recommend to anyone who uses health first insurance. read more

Called to make an appointment and didn't know at the time I was taking to a person at the call center. I explained I wanted to get an appointment. He offered me 4:45 appointment the same day. I accepted it but then a few minutes later I got a call from the office from Debra who I found out later was the doctor working there and she said we close at 5 so you have to be here by 4:30. She was rude and I ended up calling back and cancelling. I already had a bad experience with the phone call and I have never been there before. I'm going to go somewhere else. Worst customer service EVER! They don't pick up their phone, when they do they transfer you multiple times. Three calls I made to resolve one issue...22, 25, & 27 minutes on the phone (probably 2-3 minutes were actually talking to someone) the rest was hold and transfer time. ***UPDATE*** I am changing my review to 4 stars from the previous review of 1 start. After my initial visit I received a call from the General Manager, Chance Sanders. He was concerned about the experience I had and was apologetic. He did seem more concerned that I had not yet ordered glasses, not just from Stanton Optical but not at any other Optical location. He has a genuine concern about his customers needs and value of their time. For this reason alone, I met with him today and am pleased to say that I was refitted for frames and will be picking my glasses up tomorrow. Quality customer service speaks volumes and Stanton Opticals General Manager is a prime example of just that. read more

This place is horrible. I called to get a price for an eye exam and contacts and the guy I spoke to was so pushy and insisted that I HAD to make an appointment. I explained to him SEVERAL times that all I was asking for was a price. He still pushed for me to make an appointment. So rude! I will NEVER darken their doors! So unacceptable! read more

Absolute worst customer service! No one has any idea what the other one is doing. It is a complete and utter unorganized mess! Save yourself some time and aggravation and find another place to get a prescription- unless you want to wait anywhere from 3 1/2 hours to sometime when the Lord comes back. read more

I have been hesitant to write this review but other people should be aware of the issues. I scheduled an appointment for January 2019 and arrived early. I went through the refraction process and was put into a trial pair of contact lenses. I immediately told the staff member I could not see out of the left lens. I was told my Rx had changed and that I was no longer going to be in a toric lens. I explained that I still couldn't see out of it and was sent back through refraction process. Again, was put into trial lenses and again could not see out of the left lens. This was about 3 hours into my visit. I finally explained to the clerk the process wasn't for me and I would just leave. I asked how much the exam was so that I could pay it and leave. She went and found a manager who stated she'd be right with me. She finally got with me to see what the issue was and I explained again about not being able to see out of my left lens. She managed to get it corrected so I ordered contacts and a pair of glasses after being in the store well over 4 hours. Fast forward two weeks when I get my glasses. I can't see out of the right lens. Same with a second pair I purchased before my first pair came in. I went in on a Friday, with hardly anyone in the building. I explained what was going on and was asked to wait until they could pull my information. After waiting nearly 30 minutes, I was told I would have to go back through the refraction process but there were several people in front of me. I explained that the people had not been there when I came in and that every time I looked for the staff member helping me, she was busy helping the people who had come in behind me. A manager "pulled strings" and moved me to the front of the line. Promised they would make it right and I would be given upgraded frames and lenses. During my exam, I tried telling the "person" on the screen that I still couldn't see out of my right lens. He ignored me and completed the exam. I still couldn't see out of the right lens. At that point I had had it. I was ready to leave but not without the money I had paid for my glasses. Again, I was told to hold on and again was promised the moon but eventually they managed to figure out my Rx. I left the single vision glasses with them and was told I could come back later in the day for them. I went back on Monday to pick up the one pair of glasses but they were not ready. The manager asked me if I wanted to wait or pick them up the next day. I went back on Tuesday and no one could find my information with the new Rx. It took them about 30 minutes before anyone could find them and explained to me they were not ready and in fact the lenses had to be ordered which would take two weeks. I explained about my visit the day before and what I was told. The response was, "Well, I'm not saying I don't believe you but why would _____ tell you that if the lenses had to be ordered?" I responded that I did not know why I was told that but why would I show up if I hadn't been told the glasses would be ready? Despite all this, I left both pairs of glasses so that they could order my lenses. Seriously, if you have ANY vision issues, do not go to this store. They have no sense of organization and the staff is unable to focus on customers because they lose track of who they are helping or they get side tracked by other people. In addition, they will make you all kinds of promises they do not intend to keep. After all this, I cannot see out of the right contact lens now. I thought I just needed time to adjust but it's been several weeks. Instead of going back, I will be going somewhere else to get my contact lens Rx corrected, out of pocket. read more

I had an appointment at 10 am and after an hour of waiting i finally went back to get my exam. In the middle of this "facetime" exam it went black and froze up resulting in us having to start over. After finishing the eye exam i was told I needed to wait 10 minutes for my prescription glasses to be ready. After almost 45 minutes of waiting I still hadn't heard anything so I decided to leave at around 12:30 with no glasses in hand. Also, only one person was genuinely nice and the rest couldn't bother to even fake a smile. I do not recommend this place. read more

Went in for my eye exam and to order contacts, everything was fine. Called back later to get my glasses prescription faxed over to another place..so far I've called 5 times on 5 different days. All 5 said they would do it..2 of those people have confirmed it being faxed...called the place where I'm getting my frames and they STILL have not received my prescription. Going on 2 weeks and nobody at this location can seem to get a simple fax completed. Will not return and suggest you take your business elsewhere. read more

Horrible. I had an appointment for 10:30, I just left at 1:48 in the afternoon. Awful service, robot as an exam, unhelpful staff, uncaring, and we even complained about the wait time, and got the response "everyone is just upset today." I was so glad to meet the staff at Stanton Optical. The environment was clean, fresh, and beautiful. The lady who gave my eye exam was great. She's made for her position with her compassion. Angel was the angel of my eyes. He helped me with my glasses. He was witty with humor and professional. Then I met LaToya that stepped in and put the cherry on it with the ultimate help that Angel needed. I really needed my eyes checked. I needed to buy my glasses. I even called my husband who haven't had his eyes checked over 9 years. I bought his glasses to. They are all awesome. read more

I bought two pair of glasses, the most expensive I have ever paid--so I was hoping that I could get some use out of them. Neither pair get much use--I keep one pair in my car and only put them on when driving, and the other pair lives on my night stand and are also used very sparingly while watching tv every once in a while. One pair is badly scratched, the tinting is coming off, and I have had to replace four nose pieces. I am not hard on them; I am not an athlete or do anything else while using them that should cause undue wear. I used ONE pair from Visionworks (meaning they got twice the use) for 5 years prior to this, and they were still in new condition when I lost them. The Stanton's location in Tyler, TX said I was still under warranty, but they still want nearly $200 to replace the lenses. Stanton quality is bottom of the bunch it seems. Fortunately, Tyler is a good size city and has many other options for eye wear. read more

Absolutely horrible!!! U get hooked in with free eye exam and buy one get one free. Took 2-3 weeks to get glasses in, then they couldn't even find the order! The order was in a different persons name! Then after going in to find out it took 2-3 weeks for just temps!!! That it would be another 2-3 weeks for the actual prescription to come in. Then they will say u r put on the schedule and u go in for the time they "scheduled" you for, and they say ur not on the schedule! Recommend family to go here before I realized how much of a joke this clinic is and after she paid 200$ plus they glasses came in wrong prescription, they told her to come back and see the dr again to verify the prescription, she walked in and she wasn't even on schedule for day and time they told her to come!!!!!! She requested a refund because after 1 month no glasses and out 287$$ and no glasses because hers broke and they told her they would submit it to corporate and get back to her!! That was 5 days ago now!! And still no answer!! read more

If you have an eye emergency like your glasses are destroyed this place will do. My husband dropped his glasses and they were stepped on so he was totally blind. What was convenient was that we could schedule online. What wasn't convenient is the staff on the phone lied to us claiming that they were in the office when in fact they were alledgely(according to an employee) in Nicaragua. They told us they were in network for our insurance. When we got to the tyler texas location we were told otherwise. On the phone we were told to bring our card, at the store they said that was not enough proof for my insurance. So we pulled up our info on my tablet. The employee claimed it didn't show what was covered despite being able to see it all on the page(I would share the page but it has our personal info on it.). Finally after all of that they finally took my husband back. The customer service is horrible. But like I said, if it's all you have on a Sunday you'll take it. Even as I type this an employee comes to me handing me a paper and sarcastically says "you're welcome" with a dirty look on her face. This is not the type of professionalism I have come to expect from my insurance providers. They definitely need to work on their customer service and service in general. read more

Won't ever go back to this place! First off their advertised specials are a LIE! The ONLY frames that are included in that 2 fer are the ugliest ones that nobody will wear (unless you just woke from a 50yr coma). We waited like an hour before we were ever helped. The eye exam is NOT free! We had to pay $35 for it and then it was supposed to be deducted from the price of the glasses. Not 1 person in the store told us that none of the frames, except those 6 special pair, were part of the sale. They only had like 2 pair of frames that would fit my son. We went ahead and got them since we had already wasted so much time there. When we got home, we had a recorded message from one of the employees accusing of stealing frames! Seriously? I put them back on the wall...too lazy to look there? Then it took forever to get the glasses. Worst optical experience ever! And ours was great compared to my son's teacher. Took her like 6 tries to get her and her daughter's glasses right. Avoid this place!! read more
