They had a good selection, most of them were in the $20-40 range. This is the most bare bones Staples around. Limited selection and hours of operation compared to Warwick location. They've got the usual paper and ink. Amazon returns and UPS shipping services are what makes this location convenient. I went in to look at office chairs and they had 10 on display, drive up to Warwick and they had 40 out. This location went downhill when they closed half of the store and turned it into Petco. Be sure to check the prices at checkout. The price for paper was cheaper in store while the shredder oil was cheaper in the Staples app. Associate was able to fix it upon checking out. read more

I needed a cheap Windows laptop, so I headed over to this Staples. They had a pretty good selection and were very helpful in picking one out; I chose a Dell and took it home. So far so good. The next day I set it up and had a lot of difficulty. The laptop was having trouble connecting to the Internet for a lot of simple setup tasks, even though I'd connected to my wifi without incident. When I finally got into Windows, everything was moving like molasses and I found it was going to take me something like 18 hours to download and install Chrome. A standard speed test revealed that my download speed was less than 1 Mbps; I have the 50 Mbps plan from my Internet service provider. I tried other laptops and devices I own and found they were similarly slow. A lot of people would have been stuck here, but I have a long and storied history as a troubleshooter. The first question you always need to ask is, "What just changed?" And what had changed for me was that I had just bought and set up a new laptop. The problem was easy to validate: I just shut down the laptop and everything returned to normal. Then I turned it back on and everything was slow again. Rise, repeat. I tried to end some suspicious processes running on the new Dell, but nothing worked. Staples offers 30 days of support for new hardware, so I brought it in. They were adamant that the laptop was not the issue. I told them everything I've written in this review, but they insisted that the problem must be that I have too many devices connected to my wifi. The solution, they said, was to upgrade my Internet plan -- though my 50 Mbps plan should support some pretty intense activity, including high-definition video streaming on multiple devices at once, which I hadn't been doing. Here's the thing: If that were the case, I should have seen my performance degrade from, say, 40 Mbps to 35 Mbps, not from 40 Mbps to less than 1 Mbps. I told them this, but they remained convinced that the laptop was not the problem. They wouldn't even open it up to troubleshoot. They did give me the option to return it for a full refund, and I did. I certainly wasn't buying a new laptop at Staples after this incident, so I headed over to Best Buy instead. I picked up an Asus that was even cheaper than the Dell. I came home, and guess what? It's plenty fast and is having no negative impact on any of my other devices. Who would have imagined! Two stars because if you promise support, you have to offer support, and you always need to listen to the customer. Of course, all would have been forgiven if they'd been right, but they weren't. They were perfectly cordial, so they don't get one star. read more

While I was still trying to unload it from my car, the store manager (later he introduced himself as Jason) rushed to me with a shopping cart to help me pick up the box! I called about cell phone screen replacement. They said they would have to send my phone out which would take at least five days. Then I asked if they knew of any companies in the area that do repairs. " No. We are the only company in the area that does screen replacement" That is a lie. They should have said they don't know or can't recommend. ProWireless also in North Kingstown does screen repairs. read more

The store was recently cut in half to make room for a pet supply chain next-door. As a result, they no longer sell furniture and 50% of their stock has been moved to online. I have stopped in the store several times in the last few months, but with nothing I ever need in stock, I've given up. The associates always offer to order things online, but at that point why would anyone not just go to amazon or monoprice? Staples needs to wake up and realize that when they move their stock online, they are no longer competing with every store in a tiny ten mile radius, they are competing with the entire world wide web, and they don't have the best deals there. I needed gold foil stickers that staples sold online for $30 but amazon had for less than $1. I predict that in 10 years, most of these retail chains will be extinct. read more

If I could give negative stars I would I have never received such awful service from any store before. I have also never left a bad review for any place either but I am so done with this store. On Aug 20th I brought my daughters phone in for the screen to be repaired. $200 later they said it will be ready in 2-3 hours. I never received a phone call that day saying it was done. So I go in the next day to check on it. They said they couldn't fix it they needed to send it out. Ok that's fine. But why did I not receive a call they said they called multiple times but it didn't go through. Which is strange since my phone rang plenty of times that day. So I get a call at the end of the week saying that they could not fix it because the wire was off and I would get a refund did it want them to fix screen or did I want to take it to Apple to be fixed. Made my decision. Then the following week I receive a call from them saying that they needed a decision on what I wanted to do with the phone. I said I gave you the answer last week when someone called. They said that they must have not received the email. So the next Friday i received a voicemail saying it was in. I go in on Monday to pick it up and they said it was not in and it showed it should be in on Tuesday. I said why did I receive a voicemail saying it was in. Response was sometimes the tech team sends out the call too soon. So no call on Tuesday to say it was in. I call Wed morning says nope not in and it should be in after 3. No call to say it was in. So I just called again and it is still not in. We are now on day 16 of run around from this wonderful company. So I do not recommend ANYONE ever trying to get their electronics fixed by this place. read more

Cell phone repair. Who knew Staples did this? I sure didn't. Last Friday I stupidly dropped my iPhone 5s (yes old) in the grocery store, flat face down, and when I picked it up, the screen was coming off and I had the dreaded black screen of death--pushing the home button did nothing and I couldn't even turn it off to reboot. I thought for sure I was SOL and was going to be forced to get a new phone. Went home and did a quick Google search for iPhone repair--everything was at least 20 minutes north of me, closer to Providence and mind you it was Friday afternoon so I thought I was going to be without a phone for the weekend. Also bear in mind that I couldn't just call the various companies to see if they were able to fix my phone or to see their availability. Saw that Staples performed Cell Phone Repair and was intrigued. The website said it could do Apple phone battery and screen replacement same day and other phones could be done over a longer time frame (as well as other, more complex fixes). Drove over to Staples in North Kingstown, RI. The Tech Support Dude, Christian, was super helpful and assured me he could have my phone fixed (screen replaced) in about an hour. He told me there was a 20% off coupon for the repair cost and I asked if he had extra coupons in store, since I was unable to use my phone to search for the coupon online--he hooked me up. It ended up being around $110 with the coupon for the screen, screen protector, and installation--a much better price than a new phone! After filling out the appropriate paperwork, my phone was as good as new in a mere 35 minutes! Much less time than the hour that was originally predicted--good thing too, since there's only so much browsing you can do in Staples when you really just need your phone to work. Tonight was the last strike at Staples for me. I have been a customer/business account holder at Staples for approx. 30 years, but after my experience with the print services dept. this evening I can no longer justify maintaining a business relationship with Staples. I arrived at approx. 7:30 to have a coversheet printed onto heavy stock paper and then have it comb bound with a 50 page document that I had printed and brought with me. I patiently waited as the print services employee, Lily, helped the customer before me with the printing of logos. She spent time adjusting the color, size, and even offered to utilize Photoshop to enhance the logo images. The customer was allowed behind to counter to view and oversee the production of these two printed logos. While this was going on a woman waited patiently for assistance in the UPS shipping area as other employees wandered and chatted amongst themselves in the store. The cashier had offered to help but was unable as he was unfamiliar with the printing of shipping labels. Eventually it became my turn, I explained what I needed and a copy of the coversheet was quickly produced on the selected paper stock. However it was at this stage I was informed the binding of the 50 page document would have to wait until tomorrow. Lily stated this was due to how busy they were? There was one customer behind me at the time. After I questioned whether it could be done sooner she stated it could be ready in approx. hour (8:30) but I would be assessed a 30% up-charge. I stated that it was needed and I would return in an hour. After leaving the store I realized that I had forgotten my thumb drive and returned to the store in approx. 10 minutes. Lily was now helping the person that was behind me. She was adjusting and cropping a enlarged photo. I stood there a number of minutes and again witnessed the service another customer received, which was in complete contrast to my experience. It appeared work on logos and pictures can be done while you wait, with your participation, and with numerous enhancements. But a business document cannot be comb bound the same night without a 30% surcharge? The store and inventory has shrunk, maintenance of the store has diminished, and now customer service has disappeared. I don't believe this is a viable strategy for any business to succeed. But they will have to do so with one less business customer, one who had been a loyal patron of three decades. read more

Just before Christmas, the hard drive on my laptop stopped working and I was unable to access my files. I brought it to Staples in North Kingstown, RI. I kept ignoring the error messages and found myself faced with the very real possibility that I would lose all of my treasured photos and documents. Like many, I procrastinated and had not backed up said files in years. Some unexpected problems arose after Staples associates tried to recover the files. Thanks to the outstanding skills and unrelenting determination of Ben, I have those files (and have promised myself I will routinely make backups!). In a similar situation years ago, the person working on my PC gave up after only one try and I never recovered my files. Not so with Ben and his supervisor, Kim. Both were determined, and eventually successful in recovering my files. What started out looking like it would be my worst Christmas ever, turned out to be one of my best. I hope the corporate office of Staples appropriately acknowledges that these two associates are a valuable asset. Both Kim and Ben went above and beyond to make the outcome positive and did so ten times over. I will share my satisfaction with the service they provided with any and all who will listen. I highly recommend them if you need to have your PC serviced, and I will continue to make them my first choice to help me with any problems that may arise in the future. read more
