Badly run store - where is management? Wow, what a terrible experience with Staples store #0411, Salisbury. MD on Monday, December 29, 2025. I was there to drop off an Amazon return - Staples was the only free option offered. There was ONE register for returns and purchases, with the line snaking back through the store. We customers noted that 2 employees manning the separate printing area seemed to be doing nothing, but no one was jumping in to help. When asked if there were any managers who could be dealing with the one-line chaos, the response was "They're in a meeting." At my 20 minutes mark in line, a second register was opened and customers were directed to that register for purchases, my line would take returns. I have both returns and purchases - I'm now supposed to continue in my line for returns and THEN get in the newly opened line for purchases. (Luckily hubby was available to take the purchases.) Finally after 23 minutes, I reached the counter with my 2 items for rerurn - no box no/no label needed. Ms Clerk was having a ride on the Struggle Bus - she asked for my QR code to scan 5 separate times. I had carried my two no box/no label returns into the store in a box and had removed them (remember, no box no label required), but Ms Clerk told me to put them back in the carry box, which was ultimately thrown into a falling tower of boxes behind her. Finally done, as I left the store I glanced at the return receipt; it listed three items going back, not two. Whew, so glad that was over! And yet, not quite - guess what got delivered to my house just now. Yep - the nightmare Staples return I dropped off 8 days ago. So Management, I don't know what valuable insight you gained or shared in your December 29th meeting, but you could have better served your store by being present on the floor and doing what managers are paid to do - manage. read more

There's a pretty clear line between good customer service and desperate customer service; this store crossed that line. Today, I went in to look at laptops and 2 in 1s. I wasn't even at my first computer and an associate asked if I needed help. I thanked him for inquiring and stated I was ok. Then a computer sales associate, who just finished with an older customer, approached me and asked if I needed help. I said I was ok. He then goes on to state I should let him know if I have any questions. As I continue trying to read the specs and research each device, a manager approached and asked if I needed help. I explained he was the 3rd person in 5 minutes to ask me if I needed help. He then replies "that's a good thing, as long as it's not annoying" After looking at the laptops, I'm walking out and one of the previous associates asked if there was anything I wanted or needed. I'm not sure if this store has a history of uninformed customers. Or if they got in trouble in the past for no customer service, but sometimes we just want to be left alone. read more

I went in to staples the other day and I was blown away with the customer service! As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted and asked if I needed help with anything. I told the guy what I was looking for and he pointed me in the right direction. I was checked on a couple more times before I left the store. So awesome! read more

So, Staples is a little pricey. However, they have a very nice pen selection. I'm a sucker for a quality writing instrument. Lots of different grades of paper and folders, etc. Also, the only place I can find a brown Sharpie. Again, DO NOT use this company. (begin text) STAPLES Claims Center 650 Missouri Avenue Jefferson, IN 47130 RE: FOLLOW-UP AND DEMAND FOR PAYMENT CLAIM # 295890 UPS TRACKING #1Z5AR5150371017294 Dear Staples: This is further to my letter to you of January 3, 2012 (copy enclosed) and a telephone conversation today with "Delissa" at 1-800-797-5924. "Delissa" told me action on the claim had not been taken since you required documentation of my "eBay winning bid" and "detailed PayPal receipt." I asked "Delissa" why noone had communicated that back to me. She said that yours is a receive-call claim center only and they do not call out. In other words, had I not called back in to inquire, Staples apparently intended to take no action forever. See Comment further below. Enclosed are two documents that I was able to find today on eBay and PayPal respectively, and printed out. The eBay Purchase History one shows that I purchased the Pioneer VSX-5700 receiver through eBay from webbe38 on November 16, 2012. The PayPal one shows that I paid Alex Webbe $129.99 including shipping. As my enclosed January 3 letter to you recites, I subsequently returned the item to Mr. Webbe and he refunded my purchase price + shipping. However the receiver arrived back at him fully smashed by UPS. I subsequently refunded Mr. Webbe and am now pursuing this claim with you. I understand that UPS has already paid the claim back to Staples as shipper. Ergo, Staples now needs to refund me. COMMENT: I was stunned beyond words when in reply to my question today, "Delissa" told me noone informed me you needed still additional; documentation since "we don't call out." In other words, had I not taken the initiative to follow up, Staples would have sat on my money forever? What kind of irresponsible managerial ineptitude is that? Is Staples not in the business of serving your customers? The is a DEMAND that you now handle this matter expeditiously on the basis of what I sent you previously and the two additional eBay and PayPal items included with this letter. This is also a DEMAND that if for whatever reason you still have questions, someone there pick up the phone and call me or email me so we can work it out. Let me be crystal clear that what Staples does not have is the option of continuing to ignore or stonewall this. If I have not received payment by the end of this month at the latest, I will publicize to the maximum that I can via the Internet on sites such as http://yelp.com Staples' ineptitude and execrably badly managed approach to this whole matter.
