I'm dumbfounded by the few poor reviews regarding customer service. After decades of using Walgreens and CVS I moved my prescriptions to Star on Bailey Cove due to poor customer service. Star staff is incredibly kind and knowledgeable. They may be busy with someone ahead of me but I never feel rushed when discussing my medications. The staff is caring and makes me feel valued. They're also great problem solvers and don't mind to call your doc for a refill. I've not noticed an increase in prescription price but if there is one I'd happily pay it to be treated well! Highly recommend! Bad service is Walgreens and CVS in South Huntsville. Star is like a spa experience compared to the others. Thank you Star pharmacy BC! You guys rock! I was having trouble with a pharmacy I used a long time, so I changed to Star Discount Market a month ago. Each person there has helped me , been very kind, and efficient . When my husband was on Hospice, the drugs he needed were at Star Pharmacy . One time they even brought his meds to us before they opened! read more

Welcome to the wonderful world of "I support this pharmacy because it's locally owned but I truly hate it." The pros: the people that work here--and they are CONSTANTLY understaffed, so it's a battle to find someone--are generally nice. They are helpful. Etc. The cons: everything else. I mean, holy shit, if you get them on an off day good luck getting your prescription that week (seriously). They just refused to fill a prescription because I had another similar one (these were antibiotics, not anything they should raise alarm bells on and, AGAIN, these were written BY AN MD NOT THEM), they can randomly send you away to come back later if they're "busy" and such. They're pricey, even with insurance, for the pharmacies in the area and they kind of suck but I'm a fan of supporting local businesses so I will do so but caution you to not. read more

I had used other pharmacies in Huntsville before Star Market moved into the old Bruno's on Bailey Cove. (Yep, this was ages ago!) I switched to the Star Pharmacy at that location and have never gone to another pharmacy in Huntsville since! Even when the Star Market left South Huntsville and the pharmacy moved down Bailey Cove to it's current location. I can't fathom why anyone would not appreciate the personal service and knowledgeable staff at this drugstore. They have gone out of their way to save me money (signing me up for a free discount card from a drug company that I didn't know existed is just one example), save me time (yay for the drive thru), and even saved me a great deal of grief once by overnight shipping me a prescription I'd filled then accidentally left town before picking it up (so it had already been run through insurance, and I wouldn't want to go to a strange pharmacy out of town anyway). If you need more convincing, why not read the reviews over on Google where this pharmacy has a much more appropriate 4 star rating! read more

I love that they are a genuinely caring and hard working staff. Taking on the daunting task of serving the public with the roll out of Covid vaccines, they treated everyone with the utmost respect, even though they had their hands full. Leigh was especially helpful, and everyone was so kind to my 4 year old who accompanied me. I just want to say thanks for the staff working so tirelessly to keep us safe. read more

This place is a major dump and they are slow and rude to paying customers. Although I was next in line for service, I had to wait several minutes for a pharmaceutical sales rep to give a lengthy sales pitch to the pharmacy representative while I waited to make my purchase. It was obvious that neither the sales representative or the counter person cared that paying customers were waiting. While waiting, I noticed their sign that said that they refuse to fill controlled meds unless you order other prescription non-controlled meds at the same time regardless of whether you need any others. I guess you have to ask your doctor to invent some conditions that need meds if you want to do business there. That's quite stupid and irresponsible to me. To me, that's worthy of a letter to the Alabama Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP). I had a situation where my normal pharmacy could not obtain a critical medication that I needed. Due to a health condition, I am unable to work or even drive if I don't take the medication daily. After missing 2 days of work due to my regular pharmacy not being able to obtain the medication due to a backorder situation, I found that this Star Pharmacy had 5 of the tablets which would allow me 5 days to find a resolution to the shortage. While I was happy that they agreed to sell me the 5 tablets they had left, I was EXTREMELY put off when they followed up that they WOULD NOT try to order any additional amounts for me. It wasn't that they couldn't order more. It was that they wouln't even try. They apparently wern't interested in my business. I was quite insulted by their attitude. My copay and the insurance payment for all of my MONTHLY meds is over $2,000. Maybe I'm naive, but that seems like a non-trivial amount of business they tossed away just from me. There's no telling how many other customers they have run off. It's no wonder the store appears so run down and immature. Update 12-17-18: Just got a call from the manager/owner apparently trying to get me to back off this review. Until they reverse their asinine policies, attitude, and order the meds I so critically need, I'm not interested in talking to them. read more

Star has been our pharmacy for many years. They take time with us and know who we are when we come in or call. In all of our years I've ran into a few issues with a few that weren't very nice but I overlooked it. It happens. That is the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. I know that the store we use is busy but it would be nice to hear a friendly voice when you call. That is my only complaint, if you want to call it that. They always have our meds in stock and have called Dr's for us if need be. Star is the only pharmacy for us. I highly recommend it. read more

This is a throwback to a time when customers are like family...the entire staff goes out of their way to assist you with questions etc....they will try to contact the doctor if any issues come up...I am glad I switched all my family prescriptions 2 years ago from another pharmacy in town that always be seemed too busy to go the extra mile read more

The worst experience today that I've ever had at a pharmacy. I went in to pick up FIVE refills only to be told that "two" had already been picked up three days ago and "two" were not due yet to be refilled. (Note: does 2 + 2 = 5?) I told the tech that I had dropped off FIVE empty bottles three days ago, all FIVE were past their refill dates and today was the first time I had come back to pick up the prescriptions. After much ridiculous back and forth, I had to drive all the way back home, find my copies of the FIVE labels showing the last refill dates were 7/11/17 or 7/12/17, so yes they were all FIVE refillable at this time. Plus, I carried in two bottles of prescription pills that I currently had at the house to show her that these were not included in the FIVE empty bottles that I had dropped off three days ago for refill. She still insisted that two had been picked up on 8/16. At that point, I said we need to CALL THE POLICE and file a report because if this was case, then there had been a theft. I also said we need to check your surveillance video to see what happened on the 16th because I did not come back on that date. Well, she went back to "research" the prescriptions, then came back and said that the Wednesday employee had marked them as picked because she thought I was coming right back. (Huh?!?! Marked as picked up when in fact they were NOT picked up?!?!?!) Still did not explain why the tech today couldn't get it straight that it was FIVE prescription refills and that I was there to pick up FIVE prescriptions. I did finally get to leave with FIVE prescriptions that I HOPE TO GOD are correct. I have ZERO faith and confidence in that pharmacy and will never set foot in there again. UTTER NONSENSE!!!!!! I would give this a ZERO rating but YELP won't accept this review unless it is rated between 1 and 5. read more

Absolutely the place to go if you live or work around South Huntsville. Incredibly professional pharmacists/staff who takes the time to talk about options, concerns, and life in general. All the staff are lovely and they really do go out of there way to make my visit the best experience every time. This pharmacy has the best staff in town hands down! I love this place. read more

Is it the fanciest pharmacy around? No. Does it have an assortment of essential sand buckets and flip flops for your next beach adventure? No. What it does have is some extremely dedicated professionals who make certain that you get what you need, at the best price possible, as quickly as possible. An occasional hiccup? Sure, but who doesn't. The true measure of any organization is how they handle any problems. The only problems I've encountered were caused by the insurance company (surprise, surprise), and Star Pharmacy went above and beyond to ensure that my family got the medications that they needed, in a timely fashion, and at the price the insurance company was obligated to charge. read more
