Anyway, I really wanted a curry in London because of the rumour that a lot of curries that I get in Australia are actually from England (which turns out not to actually be all that true). We started on our dinner spot search late and had a couple of disappointments with restaurants closing their kitchens 1/2 hour or more before the actual closing time. That's okay cause that is how we discovered Star Kebab! We found out they've been here/open since the 70s. Okay, that works for me. We were greeted by the friendly servers behind the counter & were offered tastings of the different types of curry. As this was our first visit, they recommended that we try the Lamb Doner with Naan. Excellent-Tasty and a generous portion. Based on the samples, we ordered a 1/2 lamb and chicken curry with rice for sharing. Some of the best curry I've ever had! The restaurant itself is quite simple and has a fast food feel but it isn't all fast food. They are open late. Would highly recommended based on their Kebabs, Curries & service! read more

My friends and I are living on LongRidge Road which is about a 2 minute walk from Star Kebab. Nearly all of them had been to the restaurant several times so I decided to try it out. My friend and I walked in at about 8pm and it was not hay crowded. Small building with a small seating area but expected in London. Very warm inside after the heat wave that was sweeping through the U.K. We both ordered the chicken kebabs which was in a tortilla like thing. You had the option of having a cole-slaw topping in it along with a choice of sauce. Pretty good price but I suggest getting the larger portion since it is about 3 times bigger for only a small increase in price. We brought the food back home and it smelled great. Tasted great but about an hour after eating it we felt a little sick with stomach aches. Our other room mates had not had this side affect after eating Star Kabob the times they went. It was not extreme but still not a comfortable feeling. Besides the minor stomach ache after, it was very good with good portion sizes. The fries you can get are very good as well. Took a Tums after and felt fine. Will definitely go back since it is very close. Overall, another good restaurant with friendly staff in the Earl's Court area. read more

One thing I liked about this place is that this is one of the few places that are open after bar hours. There is also a pizza place that is open late only a few steps away from Star Kebab, but don't go there! It was disgusting! Even tho this is a Kebab place with Mediteranean food, there is also a variety of indian food like chicken tika masala, spinach paneer, and curry. I'm not sure eating Indian food after drinking was a best idea (don't do this if u are too drunk...) but the food was pretty decent. If I ever stay in the same area again when I visit London, this will definitely be my to go to place after drinking. read more

the guys decided to come here for biryani at lunch time. there is a decent selection for curries here. we each ordered a bowl of biryani. for me i chose the mutton one. the rice was flavoured with the meat and the spices, cardamons and cloves being clearly visible. the mutton was surprisingly tender and rice fluffy. we shared some other dishes like spicy cauliflower and spinach with mutton. not much kick to the cauliflower nor the spinach. what i really objected to was the fact that they microwave their food before serving! luckily, they did not do so for the rice. i guess they do it to ensure you have a warm meal but i think there are healthier options for keeping your cooked food warm. microwaving changes the state of the food and inexplicably overcooks it. seating is limited to bar stools along one side of the shop. there was a steady flow of customers but mostly for takeaway. we decided to finish up with tea and that was a letdown. they basically used teabags and the finished product was a diluted version of what we are used to. the kebab looks rather lonely and did not look very promising. sorry but i think there are better options out there. kudos to the staff for skimming the oil from their curries every now and then. good for late nights. free delivery after 7pm for min order of 10 quid. they also cater for parties of up to 300 people. read more

Definitely would not recommend if you have allergies. Owner seemed irritated when I asked questions and landed up spending £10 on something I couldn't even eat. Probably my worst spend in a decade. This is a bold statement, but here goes. Probably the best Doner Kebabs on the Planet! There I said it.I've been eating here for 20 years and now live in the states. You don't know what you miss until its gone and last week I flew 8000 miles, 2 tubes and a short walk to get here. I ate here both nights I was in town and it was culinary awesomeness. The lamb meat is very tasty the chilli sauce and salad were super fresh and there is a taste nothing like it anywhere I've ever been to. If you like Indian food there is also a great take out or eat in selection. If the UK had Diners, drive-ins and Dives then then place should be on the show... Love it. If you're in London, Earls Court or Chelsea, then you will miss out big time if you don't stop in, ask for extra chilli sauce and tell them I sent you! :-) read more

What's up London? Just landed at Heathrow, and it was my first night every in London. Due to a hotel mixup in Zone 8/9, we got upgraded to a hotel in Earls Court. Of course, by the time we got to the hotel, everything in the area was closed, except Star Kebab House. Well, I'm starving... so I grab some money and head on over. They're out of the chicken doner...fine, I'll take the lamb. Oh, snaps, those curries look amazing. I'll take that one. "Are you sure? Its super spicy" Yeah man, just give it to me, I'm starving... Walk 5 minutes back to my hotel, open up some fragrant food...eat it up...wake up the next morning and stink up the whole room. Can't wait to come back to London. read more

Very affordable (£5) and in generous quantities (I couldn't finish it!) -I recommend splitting if you have a smaller appetite. Makes it more affordable! Negatives: -Generally not friendly. They prepare the food very quickly and offer three great sauces to top off your kebab; I like combing the chili sauce and the garlic mayo so that you get the kick from the chili but the easing from the mayo. Star Kebab is just a kebab shop in London. But it's the best I've found there in several trips. The food tastes fresh and delicious (no old oil or obviously frozen samosas). It's cheap, too: you can get more food than a person can eat for £10. It's also open until very late (5am on Saturday and Sunday), so it's always there when you get the munchies. I think it says a lot that, one the trip where I discovered Star Kebab, my GF and I ate there 3-4 times. And, on a subsequent trip, we took the tube from Marleybone to Earl's Court to eat there 3-4 more times. Amusing side story: I went there one night after hitting the pub. i asked for their spiciest curry; the guy behind the counter seemed reluctant, and asked me several times if I was sure. I said I was. Back in our hotel room, I took a bite, and OMG it was the spiciest thing I ever ate! I'm surprised that the curry didn't burn through the Styrofoam container! I first discovered Star Kebab about 5 or 6 years ago when my friend suggested it at about 2 or 3am on a weekend after a late night of drinking. The chicken doner is a favorite of mine, but my stomach just can't take the samosas and onion bhajis which are oozing with grease. I went here while on vacation in London a few months ago. The day before I went here I went to an Indian place on Brick Lane (where all the curry houses are) in East London. Honestly, this place was just as good. AND, way cheaper. It was absolutely delicious and the owner even gave me a sample of multiple different foods. This time... you guessed it....bad .. i was soo looking forward to my chicken shawarma. The first bit I took I actually liked but on the second... blaaa. The main issue was the freshness the chicken was old for sure. I also got pieces of tendon which I absolutely hate. I will say that the sauces were very good (sweet chili and garlic mayo). I check the food hygeine rating and from the 4th of July 2016, it has been give a 1 on the hygeine scale!! That is ridiculously bad! Please save yourselves and just go to King's Kebab a bit more down the road, MUCH cleaner and the currys are delicious, a 5 on the official hygeine rating (Rating is from 0-5, 0 being the worst and 5 being the best) - although Im not too keen on the kebabs there but they are decent for a kebab shop. read more

I've been looking for Doner ever since I visited Yarmouth, Canada and London is the only other place I've seen it. This was great! Delicious, smelled of garlic - just YUM.
