    Chicken satay

This place was close to our hotel. Food was authentic. We ordered the chicken satay, gado gado, and Ilan belado. Satay was delicious and the peanut sauce was made with peanuts and not peanut butter like some places. Gado gado sauce has a nice kick to it. I thought the tofu was over fried but overall was a good dish. The Ikan -fish was nicely fried and the sauce was delicious. Service was good. It's a small restaurant - cozy! Will definitely come back again if in the area.

Found this place actually on Open Table (I know...) BUT this review will get posted on both platforms. This place was right around the corner from our hotel in Paddington and we were very delighted. Malaysian food with plenty of satay options. It's ABSOLUTELY DELISH! Had 2 appetizers and 2 dishes with some Italian white wine (Pino Grigio from Venezia). Fabulous flavours, great presentation. Service was amazing and have to make a special call out to Ruby & Jan who made sure we were very well looked after. Dessert was a sago (tapioca) custard which was sweet, if not a little runny, but worth a closure of the meal altogether. If you're in Paddo and liking for great Malaysian/satay, this is the place to be!

Never had this try or if food before. Our Airbnb was right across the street and when this place was open there was a constant stream of people coming and going. It piqued our interest. The server was super friendly and when we told him it was our first time he made some great recommendations. The food was super fast and flavourful jammed with so many spices. For a small restaurant it had a great feel to it. Would recommend if your in Paddington and looking for something new to try!

Great food, very flavorful and a surprisingly large portion. It is a compact space and we were unfortunately seated right next to the steps so my dad had to be mindful about the staff going up and down with trays. All in all our service was good and I would absolutely go back for the food. I don't remember the specific name of the dishes but I tried to label them as they are described on the menu.

Stopped in after a long day and was very hungry. The food was absolutely delicious! The servers were quick and kept everything moving. Music was a perfect vibe for chill time. Be sure to make a reservation to ensure your seat!

Yum! First time and first meal in London, what a treat. My family and I were staying a few blocks away and decided to give this restaurant a try. I guess we lucked out as we were able to be seated as a walk-in party of 4 on a Thursday night around 5 PM. Although the restaurant was quite empty at the start of our meal, it definitely filled up by the end. Food was delicious! Super flavorful and piping hot. The dishes can be quite spicy so do check with your server if you are unable to tolerate heat. Do not eat the peppers (I made that mistake). 10/10 would recommend!

LOVE LOVE LOVE! Absolutely recommend Satay House if you're in the area but you must make an open table reservation ahead of time. Quaint on the inside with minimal seating but it packs up quickly and all the food is impeccable in taste.

This traveling, to know, learn, expand our experience, trying, discovering new ways, places, flavors. The girls who have served me, second to none, their recommendation was totally correct, the perfect flavor, with a delicate character, I asked for a soup, and Aishah suggested the Mee Sup, an extraordinary combination of flavors, spices, freshness, as well as crispiness In short, these girls know very well what they are doing. As my grandmother would say: "barrigueta plena, cor content" I'm too happy. I will return with the whole family.

The food is unbelievable, simply my favorite meal in London. My first time having authentic Malaysian food - the roti and satay were incredible. Would recommend the ayam berlada was a fried chicken with onions, so crispy and so spicy. I would fly back here to eat this again, first stop next trip. The inside is cozy and was busy the entire night - make a reservation! So so good.

Lunch at Satay House in London Very authentic ... Kari Kambing Terung Berlada White rice.. Service is good. Even though they just open for lunch on Tues , 3-4 tables were already occupied . We had to dine downstairs... No worries.. the service was good .. we got orders and food pretty quick.

Stir fry beef dish. Tasty sauce but tough beef.

One of the many Malaysian/Southeast Asian places in the neighborhood. This one was one of the closer ones to our hotel. Everything was good but I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting a more authentic experience. We had the chicken satay which came with a few tiny pieces of lontong (rice cakes). The peanut sauce was great though. Also had one of the stir fry beef dishes and while the sauce was good the beef was a bit tough. Also had the kari chicken which was pretty good. Not a big place so I could imagine it filling up quickly. None of our dishes were spicy at all, so didn't really understand comments from previous reviewer. I actually thought the dishes were somewhat Westernized which was why I was a bit disappointed. It's a difficult balance I suppose for the owner.

We were in London for 1 night on a layover and took the Heathrow express into paddington station in search of some spicy broth. I found Satay House on Yelp and everything on the menu sounded excellent. It was a Monday night and quite busy, we didn't have a reservation so I would recommend making one! We had to wait for a bit but it was worth every minute. Hyde Park is nearby so we took a stroll and came back to the restaurant and our table was ready. The server was kind and gave us great recommendations. We got the satay, mee goreng, and kari laksa. And of course roti. Everything was SO delicious, I still think about the kari laksa broth. The portion sizes were decent and great for sharing. I would go out of my way to come back here the next time I'm in London!

We tried this restaurant tonight. The waiter is very nice and thoughtful. The food is just great! And price is fair too. It is about 10 minutes walking distance from Paddington Station.

My friend had recommended trying the singapore laksa, and I'm grateful that I did -- it was fantastic! The portion size was sooo big, with a huge helping of yummy rice noodles. (I didn't know laksa came with rice noodles sometimes -- think I've only had it with egg noodles before.) The variety of ingredients -- shrimp, fish cakes, tofu puffs, chicken, and more -- were all delicious, and the healthy level of spice added more of a kick than i expected. I also ordered a teh tarik, which was nice. Nothing too remarkable; it tasted very authentic. Overall price point was very reasonable, and the service was prompt and friendly. I really like the feeling of this restaurant being somewhat tucked-away in a side alley -- makes it feel like a small escape from the relative bustle of the central Chinatown neighbourhood. I will definitely be back to try some of their other dishes.

The restaurant has been around since the late 80's and somewhat hidden down an alleyway off Chinatown/Leicester Sq. I ordered the Hainanese Chicken Rice, that I had there many times before, in what now feels like a former lifetime. Unfortunately on this occasion it was a little bit disappointing. Perhaps because I'm not of the origin of food that they serve, they palmed me off with 2 pieces of chicken breast meat, with a fork and spoon of course in order to add to the debacle. For those who know this dish swill understand that the best part is the leg meat, on the bone, that becomes somewhat gelatinous, and somewhat undercooked when it is immersed in ice quickly after cooking. Unfortunately I didn't get any of this, and the breast meat a little overdone. Service was a bit dull and rather unenthusiastic.

We started with some yummy cocktails and the okra fries which were delicious - if only okra always tasted this good. For mains, we shared the chicken tikka, black daal, paneer and garlic naan. Pretty standard Indian order. The chicken tikka was just too spicy and we weren't used to that so it went mainly eaten. My favorite was the black daal but again, it wasn't so amazing that I would go and have it again. Honestly the best dish we had was dessert - the basmati kheer is a perfect rice pudding with crème brûlée like topping. So good. Service was spotty, I constantly found myself trying to find our server or make eye contact with him. They were slammed on a Tuesday night (which I'm sure is the case every night) so that's probably just the way things are but it could've been better. Disappointed but willing to try again, also made me want to try some other Indian spots in London next.
