When you're waiting for your pizza to be made literally next door-ish, you decide to check out the local Liquor store nearby. I did just that. I normally don't go into legit liquor stores all that much, but when I do, I usually try to spot the vodka and see what I can do with that with the pizza ordered earlier. With that said, I arrived here around 8:15pm on a brisk December evening. I had completed a 50km run event in Glendale a day before and wanted to celebrate. And so, I was here picking out my favorite brand of vodka. They actually have a pretty neat selection of everything and anything you could possibly want. While it's not your typical wine store like Totally Wine and stores like that, this place has the majority of brands that most people enjoy on a daily basis. This place is almost like heaven for those who really go to town with the finer things in life. Practically 95% of the store is either beer, wine, and spirits. I did find the non alcoholic sodas in the corner though, which ended up being a good mixer for the vodka. Ended up buying a bottle of vodka and a bottle of Diet Coke. Had a fun time carrying it back to the hotel across the street but that's a story for another day. My experience here at Star Liquors took about 20 minutes from start to finish. Probably 15 minutes to identify and select what I wanted and 5 minutes to check out. The service was typical but friendly and fast. It was nice that this place opens till 10pm when I was here so I got something to enjoy while in Tempe on vacation. The overall experience here at Star Liquors and Convenience was good, low key, and cool. It felt like being in a 7-Eleven or a Quik Trip, but you are basically surrounded by various liquors and spirits. The store itself was clean and very meticulously organized. If you are in the Tempe area, consider coming to this place for your party needs. Definitely recommended if you are needing this kind of liquid refreshment for an event or just something to help you enjoy the weekend with family and friends. The prices here are very reasonable and it's pretty cool that there is such an assortment of wines, beer, and everything in between to satisfy everyone and anyone. While not a specialty liquor store by any means, it kind of feels like it. It gave me all the feels, but the ambiance that night gave me the 7-Eleven convenience store vibe and not like a Total Wine store. I guess it's just set up like that. They accept major credit cards, as well as cash, but in this age of COVID-19, best to wear your face mask when you are in the store to prevent something from coming or going. With that said, there is plenty of parking here, even though there's a limited number of slots available. Best bet would be to come here early to guarantee your space. If you know what you're looking for, you can get in and out within 5 minutes. For myself and my experience here, I just had a hard time deciding. What went nice with that pizza that night decidedly was vodka and soda to celebrate the incoming new year 2022. There's also public transportation options too, as well as ride sharing Uber and Lyft to suit your needs. Whatever you do to get here, there's a good amount of selection here to wet your whistle. I have ordered for delivery thru DoorDash later at night & twice the same thing happened with Star Liquor!! The orders took well over an hour, close to 1 1/2 hours. And the store is just a few miles away. The driver being unresponsive to my texts asking if there's an issue with delivery. I get notification the order is delivered. There is NOTHING at my door. Than notification that it's only partially delivered, still nothing at door. I'm guessing it's too late to deliver the alcohol so the drivers both times kept it! 1st time I called STAR & the delivery driver was already back there! So clearly she was only doing deliveries for STAR & she said she knocked on my door....total LIE. I was sitting right by the door. She never even came to my door!! Tonight same thing, Justin the delivery driver never even came to my door, never responded to call or texts. He said the stuff was delivered but nothing there. Our go to liquor store! My husband and I always come here for the beer selection. There is so much to look at and choose from, there's a bunch of random things in the store but it looks like there is a huge variety of liquor as well. Would definitely recommend for the huge variety! The prices seem right in line with buying at a grocery store or such, so it's nice to know prices aren't jacked up high. The staff are friendly and don't try to sell you on other things. This is definitely going to be our go to place for trying new beers! Love that they have local options as well. read more

Every college student's paradise. Not a college student? Fine, but you'll still love this place. Star is by far the best liquor store I've ever seen. It's not that big, but every square inch is packed with what you need to get the party started. One wall is lined with craft beer. You can pick up a six pack of well known microbrews and local beers. There are also individual bottles of Rogue, and some other stuff that'll knock you off your feet. There's an extensive liquor selection, too. Everything I could ask for, and lots I've never even heard of is behind the counter, and at very competitive prices when compared to larger chains like BevMo and Total Wine. Speaking of wine, Star has a nice rack. I didn't bother to check them (sadly, no one besides myself enjoys wine at parties), but I did take note of the sake lined up on top. There were even some sake bomb kits! Amazing. I also love the freezer dedicated to munchies (like...every brand of frozen pizza), and the separate freezer just for Jagermeister! Doesn't have prices on 90% of their beer, you'll soon find out its because most are 15+ dollars for a 6 pack lol. They say because it's too hard to put a price on each case.... Yet the previous owners did and somehow managed to have lower prices. So not only are the new owners more greedy but also lazy. They also do not inform you when charging a card that they have a fee, a sign needs to be posted or they need to verbally tell you. Please learn the law. read more

That lady is everywhere and I keep waiting for her to pop up out of the freezer and say, "can I help you!" I want to walk in with a sign that reads, "I'm not a thief!" This place is right across the street from me and they have a huge selection of beer, wine, liquor and a few random convenient store items thrown in . My boyfriend and I have been going to star liquor for the last six months, usually 3 to 4 times a week. We pick them because they are locally owned and like to help support,BUT after tonight I won't return!!!!! The owner was extremely rude and has been the last few times we've been. My boyfriend always pays with his debt card and it's not it the best shape, because its USED. Yes, it's time to get a new card, but turning away business because his card it pretty old is not good business. The owner didn't even bother asking if we had another card ( which I did!!!) or cash to pay with. He said "Go somewhere else"..... Really??? I was stunned and now just mad! I bought a pack of backwood cigars got all the way home and noticed there was a tear in the package. All the cigars we're stale! I drove back to get a new pack and exchange the one I just bought. the lady working in the front Said why did yoi open them? I was like what??? I didn't know they we're going to be stale. This is the only place in the Valley that I know that sells Don Q Anejo rum. At one time you could only get this rum in the East Coast or in Puerto Rico. The Owner was very friendly and even chatted with me about the rum. I travel 20 minutes to go to Star Liquor and its well worth it. read more

I've traveled a lot throughout the country for work, and I don't think I've ever seen a liquor store with the kind of selection that Star has.
