This was my favorite neighborhood corner store until today. It's a family business - the mother and son are wonderful people. I've come in there to buy my wine and vapes solely from them because of how sweet they both are. Today was different. I dealt with the owner of the business - the father. Bought 1 bottle of wine and 1 puff bar from him. I got into my car, opened the puff bar and it was faulty. My fellow vape smokers (yes it's bad) we all know what a faulty disposable vape does right? It starts leaking and overheating at the first puff. Most stores will exchange it for you. After getting into my car and smoking the bunk puff bar, I walked back into the store to show the owner. His response? That the puff bar was "very hot and wasn't the one he'd sold me". Are you serious!? I had to stand there arguing with this man in front of other customers and assuring him that I wasn't trying to scam him. So much for being my favorite corner store, his last word was that "you're going to smoke them for the first time in front of me from now on". Thank you for that. Genuinely loved your wife and son, you guys were my favorite wine spot and I thought I'd be a longtime patron. Guess not. Looking for some beer within walking distance from our hotel and this was the closest. Walked in and I'm greeted immediately with a "Hey bro, how's it going?" I told the guy I was from out of town looking for some good local beer to which he proceeded to break down by size of the brewer. He then started telling me about the beers and where they were from and how they tasted. Then after telling me all of that he said "buy two singles and I'll give you one on the house!" I cannot believe that I am the FTR D's. From what I hear, D's has been an Old Town landmark for a long time now (at least 4 years). It used to be a Circle K. Nobody in Scottsdale sells flour after 10pm except for D's Market. Certainly not after 1am. Trust me, I checked. Fortunately I called D's ahead of time and they said not only do they sell flour, but that I didn't need to rush over to beat their 2am closing time because they'd hang out a while longer for me. That didn't end up being necessary, but the gesture was appreciated. Being from LA and also being gluten free, it's hard to find something healthy to eat before going clubbing and trashing my body at Old Town scottsdale. The people there are great (like Chris the homie) and they got all the healthy snacks you could think of!! The charm of this market lies in it's convenience-store feel, while it offers healthy, vegan and vegetarian snack and food options! It's a nice surprise and a different and creative take on what we traditionally know as convenience stores. You get the sense they want to make healthy foods accessible to everyone, which is often lost these days in "health"-oriented markets. This quaint, family owned business has a good heart pumping through it's aisles. The family is kind and generous and is open to feedback and suggestions. You get the sense they truly want to serve their customers in the customers best interest. The spicy vegan nacho cheese is delicious and great with chips (they have these flax seed ones which are some of the best I've tasted) and salsa and on enchiladas. i've been here a few times, and they do actually close at some point during the day because at 7am one morning, they were closed. but it's like any other convenience store, but not as glitzy and there's no buffet of cheap coffee, donuts, or lunch-ables like the modern circle k's. what sets D's apart is the family that owns it. while there one afternoon, the owner, George, greeted everyone as if he'd known them for years. he even knew their names.
