I needed something quick, easy and nice for New Years and luckily Star Nail gave me all that I needed to look good as I celebrate! They do accept walk ins and appointments, and I was in the process of running errands that day, I had stopped in and asked if they could matte my nails. It's something I've always wanted to try and wanted sure if it were possible on gel nails, but they made it possible! The place was pretty empty, but I had good chat with my manicurist. The entire process took about 30 minutes and went by in a jiffy. At one point she used a hot hand sleeve for my nails which felt amazing and was something I've never seen done before. I decided to go dark chocolate/brown this year with matte finish and loved the finishing look! I've enjoyed it every day I've had on it and definitely can't wait to try this matte finish with a different color. Overall the gel manicure and matte finish cost $40 (they charged an extra $5 for the matte finish). Like most nail salons, they mainly only accept cash for tips but here, they did have the option for venmo as well! read more

Nail tech put no effort into my pedicure, only scrubbed one heel properly, didn't clean my nails or nail beds, I asked her to please cut shorter (twice) to which she responded "I already cut." I feel like maybe I got a dirty look, but when her co-worker told her to "smiiiiiile!" I knew she wasn't into it. I love the color I chose but now it's bumpy and blackened (?!) after less than 24 hours. I paid $40 and only left $5 tip. Zero extras. This was the only nail salon in the area open after 5pm. Should have waited for better rated salon to be open next day. read more

Went in to get different styles of gel polish on my nails so I could choose how I wanted to do my nails for my wedding. The woman was really nice at first, but quickly became impatient and after doing two different styles I'd French, demanded I get the remaining 8 nails done the same way. Maybe it would have helped if I had ripped up front?? But I'm glad I didn't because she did a horrible job and stressed me out to the point I felt tears coming on. Then she charges me $55!!!! I've come here a few times, and with 3 nail salons in Brannon Crossing this one is not my favorite. I did a gel manicure today and for $30, I can already tell it's not going to last long. I like getting a pedicure to relax, and felt rushed here. They also don't allow you to put a tip on a credit card, cash or check only for gratuity which is really annoying. There's better nail salons in the same area for the same price and a better experience. read more

If you go to another nail place in Lexington STOP!! You need to start going to Star Nails on Brannon Road. I had the most incrediable pedicure I have ever had regardless of the price. Very clean, very friendly, nice products and most importantly a freaking awesome foot/leg massage. I had a moment of worry when they started speaking a language I couldn't identify in relation to my feet. It could have been that they were admiring the lovely nail color I picked out, it could have have been that they were saying I should have shaved my legs this morning, I'm not sure. Went here last week and was needing a relaxing pedicure. From start to finish I was there 20 minutes, quickest pedicure I have ever had and not in a good way! The lady cut the back of my foot and also the nail polish was put on so sloppy. I had paint on my skin and my big toes you could see streaks from it being applied so poorly. I would not recommend this place to anyone! read more

I've been here several times now, each time for a manicure and "spa pedicure" both with regular polish (I always bring my own anywhere I go). I really enjoy this place. There's nothing spectacular about it but the people who work there are always good natured and polite, quick and efficient but still seem to make the most of the massage. This morning, it felt like she spent forever massaging my legs which was awesome but I was still in and out in a little over an hour which I appreciate. And my nails look great - no streaks and very clean around the edges. I've never had to wait but I try to always go at times that won't be crowded - early or during a weekday. Not satisfied. Went there for the first time 5/29/14 with my teen. We each got manicures & I got a pedicure. Pros: Place looks clean Metal implements came out of a sterile (from an autoclave) package Pedicure massage chair was very nice Cons: Manicurist did not apply a base coat & used color on my nails. It took an hour to get the fuschia/reddish color off (only removed due to lots of chips in polish) Some of my fingernails were left square with sharp edges which dug into my skin. I thought I had some sort of infection due to the pain - it was the nails My pedicure did not last long The soles of my feet were gone over once with a brush so the next day I still had rough soles/heels Overpriced for the minimal manicure required on my teen ($25) - nothing artificial mind you, just a straight forward manicure & nothing needed to be trimmed or filed Bottom line, I'm most unhappy with the pedicure. Who thinks to check the soles of their feet while sliding/stomping around in those gorgeous disposable flip flops! Not going back. read more

I used to come to this nail salon all of the time and then I moved to Louisville and stopped coming. I was back in Lexington for a visit and decided to try this place again. I had a gel manicure. I was not pleased at all with my service. The man that did my nails did not speak English at all and didn't even attempt to have a convo, he looked like he was mad the whole time. He did a terrible job on the gel so it all bubbled up and pealed off and didn't file my nails properly so they all broke within a week. I had just grown my nails out and now they are all broken. I have definitely had a better experience in the past. read more
