Terrible Experience - Discriminated Against Due to My Disability I am extremely disappointed with the service I received at this nail salon. As a person with one arm and one leg, I was treated incredibly poorly. I went in for a gel manicure, a pedicure, and three designs (one of which was barely a design -- just a simple circle). The lady charged me $15 per design, which seemed excessive, and tried to make me pay $110 for the services! When I expressed my concerns and offered to pay $90 to $100, considering I have one arm, she kept changing the price and acted as if they were doing me a favor by accepting $100. This is not the first time I've been overcharged at Asian-owned salons, where I am frequently asked to pay for an imaginary hand I don't have. It's hurtful and frustrating to be treated this way as someone with a disability. It should have taken half the time to do my nails, but they still wanted to charge me as if I had two hands. The way I was treated here was completely unfair, and I will never return. I hope this review helps others to avoid this salon if they expect to be treated with respect. No one should have to endure the price-switching games and discrimination I experienced. I figured I'd try this place after my usual place was too busy. I got a gel pedicure for $50. The girl who did my pedicure barely massaged me and when she did there was literally no pressure applied what so over. I'm so frustrated I paid $50 for my feet to sit in luke warm water bath and essentially no massage for $50. I wish I had just paid for a polish change. I just moved to Easton from Carver a few weeks ago. I will admit I was spoiled with the nail salon I used in Carver. This salon is larger, they have plenty of staff working, even if you don't call ahead you can sign in and be seen after a short wait. It is not a long leisurely experience. I will admit you feel a bit like you are part of an assembly line. They get you in and out pretty quick. The gel manicure is finished with just one coat of color and the pedicures are nice, but you get a quick massage (hot stone included) and then our out. they don't go above beyond for the price, but the prices are fair and they do a nice job. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I'm toying with the idea of contacting the Better Business Bureau. I paid a significant amount of money for a gel manicure and pedicure eight days ago before my trip to Aruba. My nails and toenails started chipping while on vacation. Embarrassing and upsetting. Just went back to this salon and was treated terribly. I was blamed for the chipping. I sat on a beach and read a book for a week. I politely asked for my nails to be painted again. I explained that the color was defective and just give me a similar color. I honestly didn't want to waste my time doing this again. She then told me I would be charged. I found my name in the book and showed her when it was done. They didn't care and again blamed me. I asked for a refund they refused. My daughter gets her nails done regularly (dip). She came to this place for the first time last week. Her nails started to pop off within 6 days. By the time we returned today (day 9), she had already lost 3 nails. It's pretty clear that they were not done right but they refuse to replace the whole set. Instead they are replacing only the 3 that have popped off so she will have to keep coming back as the others pop off. Also, you can tell that she had them done at different times because the new ones are closer to her cuticle. In my opinion,this is unacceptable and we will not return here. read more

Make sure you find the person that does a decent job. They have a tendency not to listen to your requests in the beginning or answer your questions honestly. My 1st visit, I was lucky and found a fabulous nail tech. I thought " WOW... this might be it". The next visit I asked picked a gel color for my nails and inquired about the matching opi color. She nodded as to confirm. When it was time to do my manicure, they did not have the color. I came today to do a simple white nails with a simple black heart for my uncle's funeral. I showed the pic several times and asked if they could do a heart. Upon my 4th inquiry they said they can't draw a design unless it was gel. STRAIGHT BS. I was confused. I've never written a review for anything, and I always come to this salon to see Katie who is outstanding, but today Katie was booked so I had to see someone else. I asked for my nails to be a "little shorter" but to keep the almond/pointed shape. The technician filed down my nails so much that I lost all of my nail length on my real nails (which are hard to grow out). After I pointed out how short she made my nails, she apologized and offered to put a tip on it. Later, she showed her coworker the worst nail and laughed at it. I also asked for my finger nails to match my pedicure. My toes were painted hot pink and my nails are more red/orange. I am putting up a photo of the French manicure I had at a different salon which was replaced with the reddish manicure today at Star Nails so people can picture how much length was taken off today and how poorly my nails were shaped. read more

Time spent on pedicure has decreased and price is different each time we go, even though the requested service is the same: regular mani/pedi. I don't agree with the negative reviews on here but maybe it's because I've only been here twice. I found the staff to be extremely friendly and courteous. I've only waited about 10 minutes tops to be seen both times I've come in. The first time I saw Katie (who was recommended to me by my sister) and she was very friendly and careful. I'm usually nervous about getting cut and she took her time and didn't rush. She cut down my nails to the length I wanted and didn't try to tell me they needed to be longer (like other salons I've been to). We also talked a little bit and that was nice. I loved how my French tips came out, she did them perfectly. The second time I came in I didn't have an appointment so I got put randomly with someone else, who happened to be the owner (I think her name was Cathy?). I loved her! She was even more gentle than Katie and did an excellent job as well. She greeted everyone by name as they came in and seemed to know everyone. She offered me free water and candy while she was doing my nails. How nice! I did notice that some of the women were listening to headphones but that doesn't bother me at all. I don't care if they don't talk to me. Also, some reviews said they talk to each other a lot (apparently about other people and making fun of the customers). I didn't notice anyone talking to each other that much, if at all. The pricing was really good too, cheaper than other places I've been to. Overall, I enjoyed this salon and thought it was pleasant. I was seated at station 5, the lady doing my nails was incredibly unfriendly and made me bleed, also yelled at me for using soap on my hands after she said to go wash them. When she was filling my nails I finally spoke up and asked for them square as I knew she wasnt going to say anything. She didnt respond. Like many ladies have stated in their reviews the women that work here are beyond rude and ignorant. I've been going here with my mom off and on for about 2-3 years. I loved it at first. My favorite technician and waxer is JoJo. She's awesome and is always friendly. However lately when I go, I've been noticing that the employees are exceptionally rude. Never a smile on their faces, always on their phones or tablets/iPads and I always feel like they're gossiping about the customers. I'm not naive. The thing I dislike most about this salon is that they're not up to date on nail designs and nail shapes. When I asked my nail tech to do a leopard print design she literally had no idea what she was doing. I made her re-do the nail and do a more simple design. Also when I've asked them to do a wide nail- more commonly known as the flair/duck foot nail they literally could not do it. When you're in that type of industry, you always should be up to date on all of the latest trends. They certainly are not. Maybe if they stopped screwing around on their phones and iPads- whatever they're always on they'd know how to do it. Lastly, they're always running behind. I called them asking if they would be able to do a fill, the man said a specific time to be there. I literally arrived on the dot and waited 20 minutes just to be serviced. As I sat there patiently waiting, I looked around at the two or three employees who weren't tending to anyone else wondering why they couldn't take me already- they just didn't give two craps. My first experience was a great amazing pedicure and refill to my acrylic nails. Second time I see the same girl that did my refill names Lily I believe and I ask her to do my nails this time as well. BIG MISTAKE! She initially acted like she didn't want to then ended up doing them anyways. As she's working I can tell she's struggling while putting the acrylic powder looks super bumpy and shape is so off. I was so confused as she did so a great job the first time. I asked her to fix the shape and to fix the bumps and unevenness on the nails and she acted like she didn't hear me and then just filed a bit and carried on leaving the bumps and weird shape as is. Pedicure was also rushed this second time. I didn't want to cause a scene since I was the only person of color in this place so I decided to call and attempt to speak to the owner after and she asked me to come back and they'll fix but I didn't have the time and was stuck with these horrible nails until I could take them off. Most of them are very nice and I guess we all have off days but this is my time to relax and pamper myself hoping to leave with something nice not paying my money and leaving dissatisfied. read more

I walked in for a fill and nail design, , not to mention a very simple design, i showed them exactly what i wanted and it seemed to not be an issue. When it came to the design part of the process.. the woman doing my nails seemed to not want to go through the hassel of doing a design on each nail so she gave a poor half assed attemped and then said she couldnt do it. Ok. Fine. At least paint my nails nicely. There are 2 noticable peieces of lint stuck under the top coat.. VERY NOTICABLE AGAINST WHITE POLISH, and they refused to repaint the nail. I won a gift cert for a manicure at a charity auction. It was valued at $30. Between that time and the month gone by they apparently raised the price $5 for the service. At this time I was not not aware. Went in for my appt. and was cut on my right hand while she was doing the cuticles. Bleeding but didn't want her to feel badly. Not making a big deal, figured it will stop. She keep putting something (drops?) into it and it wasn't. I opted for a clear coat and to go guickly. Went to pay and that's when I found out it was $5 more. She would not honor this gift cert. I did happento have $5 cash on me. That was all. So I apologized and offered it to her. Meanwhile I am bleeding through a paper towel now... so I hand her the gift card the cash and my credit card. And tell her do it however she would like, but please, I would like to tip her $5 as well. She tells me they only take cash. I said I understand. So please charge the 5 and give to her the 5 in cash. *still bleeding* She then says, no. We no charge less then $10 and points behind me to an ATM machine in the salon. Tells me use it. I said, I'm sorry, but I will not use that. My bank will charge $3 and this will charge $3 to get $5 ? That's silly! She says no, this special ATM. Only charge $1.50 + what your bank charge. *finally bleeding stopping* I told her still no. We fought over $5 when I did not want to make it awkward for this young girl. I all but threw the 5 at this woman and got the venmo of the other to tip her. Had she just honored the gift certificate... it's just good business practice. Meanwhile I was so concerned with making everyone happy and doing the "right thing", not making her feel bad, giving the owner her big 5 bucks, meanwhile 2 and a half weeks later I am on antibiotics for an infection I now have in my finger. Sometimes it doesn't pay to not put yourself 1st. I should not have paid for the service... period! I should have been more concerned with taking care of where she snipped, cleaning, stopping the bleeding and disinfecting the area. I always learn the hard way. Now here we're are. Shame on you Star Nails whomever you were I was dealing with. All over $5.00, and not once did you comment on the obvious fact that I was bleeding (enough to be using a paper towel!) due to one of your nail techs. read more

She also completely cut off the side of my big toe nails to about halfway down the nail. I already have the beginning on an ingrown toe nail. Do not go here. I have been going here for years. I got my nails done Monday with tips and the dip powder. By Thursday they all popped off. I called and the owner told me not to worry they would do them Saturday at no cost. I went in today and they charged me 40$. I was so upset. They girl they gave me was new and did a terrible job and they were all crooked. I tried complaining and they would not do anything to resolve this.
