Sometimes, you have to try a spot a few times to get a true sense of it. This is the last time I will go here for nails. Service varies with whether you'll be acknowledged when you walk in or have to wait until someone notices you after 10 minutes. While the quality of the pedicure has been great, my main frustration is the fluctuating charges noted in three visits. For example, I got a gel pedicure service that is listed as being $40. And I know the gel is additional, but not consistent. This last visit, the technician told me it was $40. I gave her $100 to break and received $40 back. I spoke up about the discrepancy and she shared that it was $60. Maybe I misheard. After clarifying it was $60, i accepted it and just paid. But left feeling jipped. The pedicure was listed on the menu as $40...so how does a simple gel polish lead to an additional $20 charge? Lose a regular customer for ...a quick $10 increase? Your choice. All I can say is if you want to hear drama between the workers or the owner and you want the person doing your nails to treat you aggressively and rude, sure go here. Otherwise, keep it moving. We are new to the area. It's unprofessional here and in Timbuktu to talk about your employees. It shows you are not a good leader. Do not scold your customers for not knowing how your paper towel machine works. Also, don't talk badly about your city and area, it comes off bitter. I found better service elsewhere. service is okay, don't like the way they treat their employees, talk bad about each other as they are working, and not only that but talks poorly about their employees to costumers, unprofessional and just overall rude. over booked as well, when making an appointment in advance they still over book with the appointment you've already made with someone else's, even when being early or on time they still make you wait half an hour, happened to me too many times. some lady's will cut you as they do your nails purposely and asked nicely to be gentle they still make me bleed and have cuts on my cuticles. do not recommend do not come here at all. read more

Love this place...this is the only nail place I go too. A bit on the pricy side but definitely worth it. I go and get my pedicures done here. I don't usually do my nails but when a get a set it has to be with Rosy she is amazing at was she does. Tremendously immaculate with her work. First time I got my nails done with her was five years ago almost to date. It was for my wedding day and they were absolutely lovely, have gone there ever since. So my rating wont change cause I don't think that this incident represents the place. I came a couple of days ago to do a pedicure. The lady looked pissed off from the gecko (mind you I have never had any issues here since I started coming here, 7yrs now). Perhaps not even pissed off more like dam I'm here/don't wanna be here face. So I ignored it. She started, I'm going to go in name them but not in order. 1. She cut my toe nails without asking (not a big deal) 2. She half assed wrapped my legs with the towels. 3. She didn't wrap up my feet in plastic wrap, like they usually do. 4. She barely even scrubbed my feet, which now You look at my feet and it doesn't even seem like I got a pedicure. Today I came in, to get a gel manicure. Lord and behold I got her again. I was trying to be open minded and didn't want to say anything. I was also trying not to be an ass/bitch. We started off wrong from the gecko again. First she started of by using her drill to take off the top coat of the gel polish (I've had it done a few times to know that you can take it off with just the acetone). It just takes longer. She Foiled my fingers and then scraped of some more of the polish and then reached over to grab the drill again. I told her that I didn't want to do it that way and that I knew it took longer. That I didn't mind if it took longer. After that she just seemed aggravated. She half assed did my manicure and After that I couldn't sit with her no more. I asked for someone else to finish my nails and I was done. She doesn't seem to be a people person. That's just my own biased opinion. Cathy is her name. Update: Cathy is no more, and well, Rose has been gone for a few years now. I am still a faithful customer. Now I have Lynn do my nails. (Sorry ladies she is fully booked and isn't taking any more new customers right now). Either way remember her name LYNN she is fantastic. For pedicure, Nancy is your lady: she does a great job overall and then she has an fantastic skill at designs. She will even bust out with some samples for you to pick from. Everyone else is good but she is great. This place is just the best spot up here in the high. As of right now, not sure if they are open put they were last week, and they were very diligent about taking precautions. read more

First time coming to this salon get get a mani and pedi. I always get my nails done in Pasadena , but decided to come here from my managers great review about this place. Soon as I walk in I notice how clean the place was. All staff is super friendly and accommodating. What I really loved about the place is that they are super clean! They use clean tools for each customer and the spa pedicure they use disposable liner jet. Cindy took care of my quickly in doing my gel manicure. She was super friendly and took her time in making my nails beautiful. Next up was my spa pedicure, which was very relaxing. NINI did my pedicure she was very thorough and very friendly. I have to admit, if you were to tell this book by its cover you wouldn't think much of it, but upon entrance this book tells a whole other story. Inside this family owned nail salon along the busy area of Bear Valley Boulevard and Hesperia Road, is clean nail salon with a welcoming vibe and great service. Upon entrance I was greeted, and sat in the waiting area in front of a nice flat screen television that described the various services provided. Quite informative, actually. Because I was new to this salon, my contact information was obtained but for a reason. Now, when the previous Yelp reviews said I'd get my own nail kit, I thought it was something they would use there and then bring home. I read incorrectly. What Star Nails does is provide you with a plastic container with a nail buffer, file, and anything else needed to be kept in the Spa labeled with your name and phone number. When you return they just need to pull your nail box out of the shelves of 1,000s and use the same nail kit they had use with you at your previous visit. Safe. Clean. That was my "ah-ha!" moment. I was lucky to be assisted by Hazel. If you're a city girl who found herself in the high desert, Hazel can relate to you. She is brought to the high-desert from the beaches of Long Beach, the Naples area to be exact. She also used to work in that Naples Plaza in a nail salon. We talked while she filed, buffed, and designed my french tip nails. She's a great conversationalist. In addition, she gave me a facial message and facial waxing. Talented lady. She even put her own spin on the nail design on my nails. Overall, the experience was a pleasant one and my return is very likely. read more

I went to Target the other night and whilst online I noticed that the customer in front of me had gorgeous nails. Not being from Cali I exclaimed, "I love your nails! Where did you get them done?!" She graciously replied and told me, "Go to the nail salon behind the Walgreens on Bear Valley & Hesperia Rd." The next day I made an appointment & got a gel manicure & classic pedicure. Nancy took so much time and effort doing my gel manicure it almost made me cry tears of happiness. I have never had a nail technician ever care about such detail to my nails. I'm a boring gal and generally do only 3 different colors (maroon, dark red or nude) but she pushed me to try a color called Ferrari red. I absolutely love it and all it's flashy glory. She also suggested that I try to do a sparkly color on my ring finger "because I'm young" and I had to oblige her since she was so kind to me. I generally stay away from glitters because they are a pain in the butt to remove but I can't hate on my decision. I love the colors. I think that I have found the best nail salon in the High Desert. Let's just say I won't ever be going here ever again... I brought in a picture hoping they could do it, and well she couldn't and I didn't like the way it was coming out. So I asked her politely to change it to a simple black french manicure. Well, I received the rudest reaction: rolling eyes, Hanah sighing in frustration, and she even got the other girl's attention so they all could roll their eyes together. I get it I annoyed you, but ACT professionally. I came close to getting up and leaving after that. I should have 'cause she charged me 37.00 dollars for the nails I didn't want and a poor job at my final nails. She even ignored me and had me wait half an hour for my nails to dry and didn't even put a clear coating on the finished product (I went to another nail salon and they finished my nails free of charge after telling them about Star Nails). From the moment I walked in the door, I felt like a loyal customer even though it was my first visit. I was referred to Star Nails by my mom who is a secret Yelp lurker. I was in town visiting and was in desperate need of a mani/pedi. And by desperate, I mean desperate. My toes were straight-up busted. I trusted my mom and my fellow Yelpers and I wasn't let down. Star Nails is super clean. Each client has their own box of tools and each customer gets a clean liner in the pedicure chair. The manicurist laugh and crack jokes to you, but still play close attention to their work. The owner NiNi is really funny and did a great job at painting my paws. I enjoyed her stories and would totally go out and have a drink with her! Not only does Star Nails have amazing manicurist and a clean shop - they have unbeatable prices. You can get a great mani/pedi for under $30! Gel nails are also very reasonable, about $12 more than a regular manicure. If you have busted tootsies like mine, you have no reason not to stop by! While I don't know when I'll be back because I live so far away, if I was in town visiting me mum, I would definitely be back at Star Nails for to get my mani/pedi on.
