I have been going to the nail salon since 2004. I have received numerous compliments on my nails and have been getting acrylic nails since 2004. Everyone has told me that they look amazing and that they look natural. In all my years of going there, I have rarely heard one person complain about their nails and have seen numerous people that are repeat clients. I have gotten fills, full sets, and pedicures. The price is excellent compared to other salons in the area and my nails in comparison to other nails I have seen are natural looking, not too thick, and sturdy. I can only comment on my experience and my experience only which has been positive. Their instruments are sterile and I have never bled. I read several reviews, many negative, but decided to go to Star Nails in Johnstown anyway. Only waited ten minutes to be seen. The gentleman gave me a complete acrylic set, took his time and did a marvelous job. All the nails were straight and neatly polished. The price was comparable to that which my previous nail salon in northern California charged. Being a new resident to the area, I was satisfied that I received quality work: he was attentive to what he was doing. We had a slight language barrier between us, but I won't hold that against him. Due to dental problems, I am not the easiest to understand either- but he knew what I wanted done. read more

The absolute worst, rudest service I've ever had at a salon. Cut it short after the rushed, terrible "manicure", and said forget the pedi. I'm on travel, so I'll never be back. Well star nails is trash first of all there's still calluses on my feet and I had a pedicure the night before they charged me $246 for two pedicures and two sets of nails! Like really nobody should go to star nails in the mall. Never go there!!!! read more

I only get pedicures so, maybe that's why my experience is better than others but the staff is quiet and serious and I think others are misunderstanding that as rude. The techs are always attentive and do a great job. They do a scrub and massage that is an up charge anywhere else. This is my preferred place for pedicures. read more

I've been here twice and so far have had 2 pedicures and a manicure. The place seems to be run by a husband and wife team and they might have a couple other people help out here and there. The wife does a good job and takes her time, but the husband did my mani and rushed through it so he could get to the next customer. They also are not as welcoming as other salons in that they don't greet you when you walk in or offer tea,wine,or water or attempt to make any small talk. read more

If I could rate 0 stars for STAR NAILS I WOULD!!!! This nail salon is so ratchet to sum it up in one sentence. They are not friendly, they pick and choose what they want to do and if you have a request or a picture FORGETTA BOUT IT!!!! And I am far from cheap always leave a $25-$30 tip. My friend and I went here to get acrylic fill-ins. We made an appointment and were seen 30 minutes plus after our scheduled time. The technicians were rude and rushed on our nails. They kept getting up and going to other clients and doing their nails then coming back to us. This process took over two hours. The lady who did my nails gave me a hard time because I wanted them short but she wanted to give me long ones. The acrylic placed on my friend's nails was attached to the cuticles and was really painful as her nails started to grow. After a week, our nails started to chip, get caught in our hair, and eventually fell off. read more

Cheap, nails aren't the worst though. They don't talk to us at all though. Not even a "go wash your hands", just a tap on the hand and a point in the right direction. The older woman is the nicest, but I've never had her. read more

It's really 0 stars. Figured I'd give them a try as I was staying at a hotel nearby for a work trip. I walked in and there were 3 people working. No one greeted me, asked what service I was there for, told me to sign in on the list or mentioned what the wait time would be. After about 15 minutes, I left. No staff were even talking to the customers they were working with. How do you expect any business without appropriately communicating? Thumbs down all the way. First let me say I should have known better than to go here because it's never busy and I never see customers in the shop but I was in a pinch and wasn't able to take time to go to 4 ever nails at the galleria which is THE best place to have your nails done in the Richland area. I have never been treated so poorly at a nail salon. The woman that did my nails ( not Wendy I think it's her sister possibly ) was extremely rude even going beyond rude. First of all she was upset when I asked for healthy nails she wanted to do acrylic and I refused to get the acrylics explaining to her acrylics are hard on my nails. She reluctantly ( very reluctantly ) was sure to let me know she was not happy about my request for the healthy nails by being short tempered with me and being very rough with the application and with the e filing during the application of the nails. The nail tips were put on crooked and not glued properly and kept lifting. She filed my nails unevenly and leaving them looking bulky and oversized. She was angry when I asked for a shorter length and requested that she slim them down a bit with the e-file. She used a nail file to try to smooth them out and ended up breaking the skin on all of my fingers leaving them to look like bloody stumps. When I further complained about her services SHE THREW ME OUT OF THE SALON but not before forcing me to sit there and soak the nails off while screaming unintelligible threats, which totally took me off guard because these are not loud and violent people. There was one other customer there beside myself and I was extremely embarrassed and humiliated not to mention tortured by this woman. Overwhelmed by the circumstances I did leave but I highly recommend that NO ONE utilizes this shop to get your nails done it's straight up dangerous. Fortunately I used my cell phone to record the entire situation and I have contacted the Better Business Bureau with the recorded documentation. It's really unfortunate because the owner is a very sweet and caring individual ( Wendy) and she was not working on this day but her husband was and he did nothing to intervene when this woman was psyching out. My friend and I went for a manicure for the first time and that was definitely the last. Terrible service. Rude people. Not very gentle when using tools on my nails. Kept moving me from table to table without saying anything. Made me pay right in the middle of my manicure when my nails were still wet. Now called Star Nails. I love this place, and have going here for several seasons. Wendy does a great job both mani and pedi (I just have basic services, no acrylics or even a gel manicure). Caring for my nails can be tricky since they grow in a curve and therefore can become ingrown quite easily. The techs at Star Nails know how to trim them properly, and I have never had a problem. They are prompt and try to accommodate both appointments and walk-ins, although I have had to wait up to 1/2 hour without an appointment. I have watched the pedicure tubs be scrubbed and sanitized immediately after use, and everything else is clean and well-kept. (Yay to no fungal infections!) Best of all, they focus on the customers in front of them, and the phone is left for voicemail. Yes, that means you often have to leave a message to schedule, but that's fine with me, since I find it very annoying to have the person who is supposed to be with me focused on a phone conversation or worse yet, a private conversation with someone else in the room. Wendy knows how to treat her customers; I have recommended her many times, and do my best to give her generous tips in appreciation for her skills. She even agreed to attempt a pedicure when I had a broken ankle, and I was able to attend my son's wedding with painted toenails peeking out of my boot. Love her. 5 stars! read more
