I've been going to Star Nails for a little over a year and a half... I will never go anywhere else for my pedicures! The shop is ran by Doug and Ann, I showed up for the first time as a walk in with a friend also...not realising only 2 people worked there! They were so nice and accommodated us as soon as they could get us in. They truly value their customers and got to know me unlike many other shops I've been to in town, that seem to just rush you out every time. Doug and Ann really take their time every time I come in for a pedicure and i have yet to find a better price in town for the amount of time they spend with me. First time trying out this shop.. And the reviews couldn't be any more true. Doug and Anna are both so sweet and of course, talented. Like many of you, I have a hard time finding a good manicurist at a fair price. When I first walk into a new shop, I have these questions running through my mind: 1. Are they friendly? *YES Clean? *YES Fairly priced? *YES Easy location? *YES Also, they really DO use new files/toe separators/tools. I saw Doug get new clean tools and at the end of my session he gave them to me in a little baggie to bring back next time. LOVEEEE!! I will definitely return over and over. Don't let the location in a small strip mall confuse you, this place knows what they are doing. Doug and Ann are beyond sweet and take their customer service to the next level. I have had eyelash extensions at numerous salons in Modesto and they have never came out as good as when Ann does them. Not only are they pretty and fluffy, but the retention is out of this world. I've always wanted to get microblading and lash extensions done, but I also hear horror stories and some times the outcome is terrifying. So I decided to check out several places. I was impressed after reading the reviews and seeing the 'before and after' pics from their website. I decided to take a chance so I called and made an appointment. Going to my appointment I was nervous and excited at the same. Nervous cause I heard that microblading hurts, however Doug assured me that he will be using the numbing med and will go easy. Sure enough, with the numbing med, the entire procedure was not that bad at all. Doug took his time to make sure the shape and color was to my liking and also ask if I was doing okay during the procedure. Outcome... My eyebrows looks awesome and natural. I can't express in words how pleased I was! It was lashes next. Ann did my lashes. Before she got started, Ann took the time to ask a few questions. Length? Natural? Glasses? I thought that was super considerate. She also took her time and made sure my lashes look great! I will be only coming back to Ann for my fills. Star Nails have been around for a long time. The husband and wife are always very nice. Its scheduling around their vacations with my strict work schedule that became the problem. I had to stop going their because the husband kept cutting my fingers,since I depend on my hands everyday for work it's important they are not cut. The drill typically burned at least two of my fingers every time on top of cutting me. So I stopped going. I received not one formal apology. read more

I found this place while searching for a place that does permanent make up for my cousin and her friends. This place is small, but inviting. It's owned by a man (Doug) and his wife (ann) she does nails and he does the permanent make up. They both were nice and polite. Doug gave my cousin a great price on her eyebrows ($150) with the option of $50 for a later return visit for any touch ups or alterations. He does great work, he really knows what he's doing. Overall we had a great experience here. I give star nails 4 stars. I don't believe in giving places 5 stars that would mean this place is perfect and nothing is perfect. read more

Years ago I had Doug apply permanent eyeliner, it's so nice to always have you eyes standout. I recently had my eyebrows done. The technique he used looks amazing just the same as natural eyebrows giving a real hair like appearance.One of the most important things about permanent makeup is having it applied evenly on both sides ,Doug is extremely accurate .
