I came in for a second opinion on my lower control arms on a Mazda 2020 (the dealership wanted to replace them, which felt a little suspicious given my car's mileage). I requested a number of estimates for repair to a damaged front bumper. David was one of the first to respond, and his estimate seemed the most reasonable to me. I had a fat dent on my Tesla and I had consulted many places before I found David and Star OC Auto. Not only did David give me a fair quote that was WAY better than other places, he did a fantastic job. Here's the thing...its not just the price/work that made me believe in giving David and Star OC Auto my business from here on out...it was his attitude towards business. - He texted me every step of the way, if there's any hiccups in timing, this was communicated ahead of time - He quoted me once and never changed the quote on me - He went out of his way to make sure the customer felt convenient. I had an electric vehicle and I did not have the foresight to charge it to full before leaving it. Naturally with a paint job and fixes the car had to be turned on/off multiple times. I was running out of battery and i wouldn't have enough to make it to a charging station and I texted my concern to David. He went out of his way to purchase a charger to make sure I was good to go before I picked up my car. Its small things like that that make me a lifelong customer. David is amazing! A rare, one-of-a- kind car shop owner!, super honest, authentic, caring, transparent, and the list goes on! I mainly came here for second opinion regarding my lower control arm. I had been told by a national franchise, when I went in for oil change, that I urgently needed to replace LCA, even though I replaced it by another location from same franchise only 13K miles ago. Since there was such a push for me to do the work, I questioned if it was simply an upsell. David and I had already exchanged quite a few messages through Yelp about my concern. When I came to his shop, he spent so much time with me to explain why he recommended LCA be replaced and to have it checked at my next oil change. While I don't know cars, I know people. I know how to read person's body language, pay attention to their communications and can even pinpoint the values of a business and owner just through interactions. David blew me away as his character, deep concern for his customer's safety first, being direct, super quick in his responses, super honest in his business transactions and beyond fair in his pricing shines through everything he does. I am deeply grateful I found him/his shop to return to when I do replace LCA!! When I came in for an estimate, this was the 3rd shop I had gone to. I thought the quote was more than fair, so I gave them the business. I appreciated that the shop kept me in the loop with pictures and explanations on the process while it was getting worked on. Then when I came in to pick her up not only was my car good as new, but the total ended up being less than originally quoted. I couldn't believe they didn't take the opportunity to pocket the difference. I enthusiastically referred others to them. I even took my car back there for a small job of installing a dash cam. I'm in awe that they didn't make me feel like I was unconvincing them with it. They even took the time to show me how it worked in while standing in the rain! I needed to fix my bumper and side panel because it was dented. I highly recommend Star Auto. It looks a little janky from the outside, but I can assure you that these guys are constantly packed. Their lot is full cars that need to be repaired - and I think that's a good indicator to measure quality and success. I brought in my sister's old toyota prius to repair. Her front bumper was damaged it was coming off, and she was missing both the left and right fender liners. David kept it real with me, he peeled back the bumper, looked at the existing structure, and he immediately knew that this car was previously in an accident. He told me what it was going to take to repair it and said he doesn't have all the answers today, but as he does more repairs, if he finds more, he'll let me know. He also hooked me up with a good deal. I brought it to like 3 other shops previously, and they were quoting me at about $200 more than what David charged. Great price AND quality repairs.
