I work evenings, which means I have to run my errands before work, or on a busy day off. Today I set an appointment here about an hour ahead of time knowing this might cause a delay. Upon arriving I was greeted by a pleasant German fellow, who redirected me to the workers area to ask a Asian gentleman who appeared to be in his late 40's about the timing. Here's our exchange Me: Hello, I was told to ask you about smog timing. Technician staring at a computer screen looks at the car: "it'll be 30 minutes" Me: will it actually be 30 minutes? Technician: "I told you it will be 30 minutes" Me: I'm asking because I have to get to work, if you guys can do it that quickly I'll wait, otherwise I need to leave Technician: "coke back tomorrow then" Me: "I won't be coming back tomorrow, I just stopped here because I was in the area running errands before work" Technician: "I said thirty then you said that bullshit about work" Me: yeah okay So I called around and found a place called A&p smog check in Clairemont Mesa, the car was done in five minutes for 70 dollars. Interesting experience, funny how a single employee can sabotage a whole business. This is my second time here, first time with my Subie (aka Snowflake). I also came here sometime last year with my 91 Corolla (aka Red Rocket) and so far, both cars passed! Yay! Lol. Tony is efficient, friendly, and professional. He lets you know upfront how long the wait will be for both getting your car into a bay for the smog check and how long the process will take. I feel like they're always busy and even if you call, people can show up between you hanging up and arriving at the shop, so I would just be prepared to be patient and allot extra time just in case. I'll be taking both of my cars and my fiancé's car here every time we need a smog test. I'll also be making an appointment soon for an overall check of the Corolla and plan on taking Red Rocket to Secor's for maintenance. read more

Edit: The owner responded to my google review by insulting me, calling me a liar, and including personally identifying information. Not only is this unprofessional, but violates my privacy. Obviously they can't be trusted with your information. Good in a pinch, they got the job done. The guy at the counter was just short of rude, very short and terse. Doesn't matter how nice you are. They will sit you in a tiny room in chairs that are crawling with ants, and not acknowledge you until it's time to pay. All in all, they will do the work but you won't be comfortable while they do it. They won't be rude, but certainly won't be nice. Don't sit in the chairs. read more

I've been here six or seven times in the last few years. I have a lot of cars, haha. These guys have been great every time. Some of my cars are plain and factory spec and some of mine have a bit of aftermarket. If anything isn't passable, they've always been super helpful in letting me know what needs to be done to get the car registered. Today, I brought two of my cars in and had them both smogged in less than 90 minutes. That included the 7ish minutes needed to drive one home and bring the other back to the shop. Getting your car smogged sucks, but these guys make it as painless as possible. Highly recommend! read more

Needed to get my car smogged today, called ahead to see what the wait time was, there was none and was told it would be done under 30 minutes so i decided to stop by during my lunch break. When i got there, they took my car right away, Tony was the technician performing the smog, completed it under 30 minutes. Left my car exactly the way it was and informed me of some recalls that were recently released for my vehicle. This was probably the smoothest smog experience you could ask for will definitely be back in 2 years when i need to get it done again. read more

Wow, I never thought I'd feel so enthusiastic about my smog test experience that I'd feel compelled to write a review, but here I am to tell you this place is TOP notch. Making an appointment via this yelp page was easy - I got a quick confirmation. They took my car in the moment I arrived & Joe, who was manning the front desk and who I presume is an owner or manager, estimated for me (as he did several other customers who came in after me for smog tests) it would be a "nice, fat half hour." I guessed this meant 30-45 minutes, and my car was done in 40. Perfection. The thing that really got me, however, was the obvious care Joe takes to make his customers feel valued! He engaged folks who were waiting with cheerful stories, and it was clear he remembered several returning customers (which surprised me because usually people only need a smog test every two years, right?!) So a little backstory about how I ended up here. I misplaced my car registration. Oops. I was relieved to remember that I could renew online and I managed to do it just in time. But, then, it happened. The dreaded Smog check notice. I had been to other Smog places and they were all okay, but I wanted to try somewhere different and close by. This place is just down the street from me. So, after reading the reviews, I made an appointment. The service was exceptional! Joe is just a really cool guy and I felt appreciated and taken care of. He was aware of my appointment when I came in and had all of the paperwork ready to go. I was in and out in about 30 minutes. I will absolutely be back when I get another notice. They were great! The waiting room is comfortable and clean. The prices, I found, were pretty reasonable compared to other Smog places, and you seriously can't beat the customer service and, for me, the location. Needed a star station smog check and this place is close to work which is convenient. I called in advance with short notice and confirmed they had an opening. I was helped immediately on arrival and the smog check was handled quickly and efficiently. Friendly helpful people and fast service. I just picked my Ford Ranger up last night from Secor's. Joe had it back to replace the main rear seal for the 2nd time. The part used on the first replacement was defective and it continued to leak oil. The transmission had to be removed in order to replace the seal, so this is no quick (cheap) fix. Anyway, it wasn't Joe's fault that the part was bad but he redid the work and didn't charge me a cent. He even changed my engine oil and filter for no charge. Joe is honest, has great integrity and stands behind his work! read more

Great experience at RB Smog check! Brought both our cars in for the smog certification on separate occasions after someone's recommendation. Every time Joe was very helpful, fast, efficient and gave good advice about an issue we had with one of the cars. I highly recommend them and will definitely use them in the future.
