Starbucks are a very well known quantity to anyone who drinks coffee and/or tea. Other than the, hopefully, rare times that a special drink is offered (I'm looking at you, Unicorn Frappucino!), you generally know what to expect from you visit regardless of the Starbucks store. The Starbucks on N. Fairfield may be an exception. Other than the flagship Starbucks in Seattle's Pike Place Market (which doesn't offer drive-thru service), I've never seen a standalone Starbucks store as busy as the one on N. Fairfield at pretty much all hours of the day. I wish I owned the place because it has to be a goldmine! Almost without exception, on Mon-Fri from 9AM to 5PM, cars are snaked around the building for drive-thru service. From 11AM to late afternoon, the place turns into a de facto Wright State Student Union annex with the room filled with laptop-laden college students getting their caffeine fix while studying and/or socializing. On weekends, the drive-thru line is usually much shorter, but the inside, especially on Saturdays, is often packed with soccer moms and/or dads with their kid(s) sitting down for a quick breakfast or grabbing it to go before heading off to their match or practice. Basically, unless you get there before 8AM on any day of the week, expect this Starbucks to be jammed both inside and in the drive-thru, so expect a longer wait than you'd like for your order. The Starbucks always seems to be more than adequately staffed behind the counter, where the baristas are practically running into each other trying to pump out drinks. The staff is, on the whole, friendly and welcoming. I've seen several of the same baristas there since the first day I first started coming to this Starbucks two years ago. That said, like any restaurant, there is still considerable turnover and some baristas are better/more experienced than others. I can always tell if someone is new when I don't get the 10-cent discount when I bring in my travel mug, which really isn't a big deal, but is telling on the experience level of the employee. I'm a black coffee drinker, no cream, no sugar. I'm satisfied that there's always at least one person behind the counter who knows how to make one of Starbucks' Reserve coffees in the Clover machine. The store and its restrooms are clean and well kept. The free wifi works well and connection speeds are fast enough to meet my needs. My only rub with this place (and Starbucks overall) is that they stop brewing its dark roast at some point in the afternoon leaving the Pike's Place and decaf as its only hot coffee options later in the day. Bottom line: Given the amount of business traffic it receives, this Starbucks is too small and the design of its parking lot and drive-thru is ill conceived, which frequently results in excessive waits for even the simplest order. While that may be an inconvenience, I know what I'm in for if I choose to go to this Starbucks store. I've never been disappointed with my experience. read more

This Starbucks has the WORST parking lot! Poorly designed drive thru. When trying to pull into the parking lot you cannot get past the line of cars waiting in the drive through, which is also blocking the parked cars right in front of the door. Who designed this place? After getting your drink, the cream and sugar station is all the way at the start of the line rather than by the exit which is right where you pick up your drink. read more

I would say that if you have seen one Starbuck's you've seen them all - that isn't necessarily true. This one is extremely busy...all the time. They also have a good selection of reserve coffee's - a little more expensive than the regular ones, but so far I haven't tasted a single one that was bad. This location does have a drive thru, however I'm not sure why people cannot get out of the car and go inside - I feel like I get my coffee way faster than they do (and all those cars tend to block off the parking in the front). Service wise, I think this one always has enough people working to make sure that you get your coffee as fast as they can make it or pour it, and they have always been friendly. read more

I frequent this Starbucks often because it is currently the closest to me. The service is friendly and rather quick. For the most part I use the Mobile order on my Starbucks app, and within 5-7 minutes of placing my order, it's ready. As with some other reviews, I can attest that the parking lot is not the best. Currently the "exit only" has a huge pothole that needs to be fixed immediately. I typically park in the back parking lot just to avoid that particular exit, it's easier to pick up my mobile order, and I won't get caught in a parking spot during their drive-thru rush. Ah, Starbucks...my home away from home (especially at one of their better locations). The layout is rather small, but not too terribly so. I would still consider taking a load off here with my trusty MacBook as long as it's not during the holiday season. The baristas are on point. I've never waited very long for my coffee/savory food selection. I would like to point out that despite not being familiar with me, one barista (I wish I had gotten her name) gave my mother and I drinks for free during my Christmas visit. I'm not exactly the super cheery holiday-loving type, but her small gesture of kindness certainly helps -- and not just her tip jar. I'm use to Starbucks being at every corner. Being a Seattle born and raised I had atleast 9 Starbucks locations in a 4 mile radius of me(not including ones in grocery stores such as Albertsons, QFC and Safeway, Target). This location is very busy I normally wait atleast 15 mins in the drive thru minimum. My order has always been right, so has my husbands. So it's worth the wait and the staff is always nice and always make sure to give my dog Bruce his pupuccino which he lovesss! The lost star is for the parking situation. If you're an unlucky person that parks in front of the store, we'll you're out of luck because the drive thru line is always wrapped around the store and makes it so that the line is blocking you from exiting. I'm finally going to start doing mobile orders like I use to in Seattle and walk from the mall parking. I'm not parking my Benz to get door dinged in a poorly thought out parking lot. read more

This is still my favorite Starbucks in the area but I needed to get away from the TV at home and get some writing done so I headed here early Sunday morning. This is the first time I have actually spent more time than it took to get my coffee here. I was a little disappointed to find that there were no outlets near the tables that set closer to the floor, which I prefer. There were plenty of outlets at the bar-style tables. I found this a little surprising since Starbucks has become the "Go To" place for people and their computers and being the newest in the area I would have thought the outlets would be in abundance. read more

Indoor seating is nice, comfortable && well lit (: excellent service here!! The music is not loud, so you can still carry a conversation or even read a book. The out door seating has umbrellas for shade, but I enjoyed my drink indoors as it was still too chilly to set outside. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. read more

I have gone to this Starbucks many times, making sure ahead of time that I have 20-30 minutes to waste just sitting in the drive-thru line that is pretty much always wrapped around the building. Parking is a nightmare, especially if you want to park right in front of the building - be prepared to not be able to back out of your spot, as the drive-thru line will be blocking your way out. The baristas have always been pretty nice and the coffee is good. For the past two months at this location, I've usually ordered a venti coffee blended with milk and ice only, no sweetener or Frappuccino mix, since I have a health issue that requires me to not ingest any sugar outside of naturally occurring sugar. I've never had any issues ordering this, as it's an extremely simple drink that can be made in 30 seconds. Today was no different, as I ordered my usual. The girl manning the drive-thru intercom seemed perplexed when I told her my order, so I explained it's just coffee in a blender with ice and milk, no sugar/sweetener. I finally got to the drive-thru window and the male barista manning the window asked me if I ordered the Frappuccino. I said no, and he responded "Oh, you ordered everything but a Frappuccino". Uh no, so I clarified by stating again "venti blonde roast coffee blended with milk and ice, no sweetener please". This is the same barista who has handed me this same drink in the past, fyi. He said okay and walked away from the window. A minute later, he came back to the window and asked which size I ordered. Again, I clarified what I had already stated several times. I knew it was busy, as it usually is, but seemed busier today, so I patiently continued waiting for my drink. He closed the drive-thru window, and a few minutes passed before the drive-thru window opened and I was greeted by a blank-faced blonde-haired woman (Whitney?), rudely asking me to clarify what I ordered because "we don't understand how to make it." I clarified AGAIN what I had already stated over and over, advising the apparent manager of this location that I have ordered this exact drink at this exact location many times with no issues before, so I was confused as to why a manager was being involved in something that is so easy to make and why she was being so rude to me about it. The manager felt the need to say, with an attitude, that out of the two years that she has worked at this Starbucks, she has never had anyone order a drink like the one that I ordered. I explained exactly how to make the drink, since apparently it's difficult: pour coffee into a blender with ice and milk, blend. She told me that it isn't holding together like a Frappuccino and suggested that I get a Frappuccino. I told her that I have a health issue that prevents me the luxury of ingesting sugar which is why I am not ordering a Frappuccino that is loaded with sugar but rather a simple coffee put into a blender with ice and milk. I also advised that no, it will not hold together like a Frappuccino because it is NOT a Frappuccino. It will look like one for a few minutes before it begins to separate but you know what, that is how I like my drink and that is what I am paying for. I kindly asked her to please make my drink, as I was beginning to have an anxiety attack from the stress of this situation and I really wanted to just leave. I know it may not be apparent to the readers of this review, but the way this manager treated me was as if I was an inconvenience to her and her staff. I was not being complicated, I was not being rude to anyone, I was simply waiting in my car for my drink and had to explain this drink over and over to people who could not grasp that what I am ordering is not a Frappuccino. The manager said she would "try" to make my drink and rudely closed the drive-thru window while I was telling her thank you. At this point, I was shaking and trying not to cry. I could not believe how grossly unprofessional this lady was being with me. When she came back to the window, she handed me a blended drink without a word. Trying not to cry, I told her how I did not appreciate her disrespectful treatment towards me, that she did not have to be rude and argue with me the way that she did, and that I wanted my money back for the drink. She handed my money back without a receipt and curtly said "sorry for being difficult". I have worked in customer service for 10+ years and that is no way to treat a customer at all. Even if you're having a bad day, you aren't supposed to treat customers as if they are inconveniencing you, and you definitely aren't supposed to argue with them. Trust me, I have dealt with difficult customers for many years, and I go out of my way to be understanding of people but this lady crossed the line with me today. Also, when I drove away and tasted the drink, it was an overly sweet Frappuccino. Not what I ordered so in the trash it went. What a waste of my time. Corporate will be hearing from me. read more

Outside of the Wilmington Pike location one of the rare drive thrus in the area. I have tolerated this location one too many times. They are always out of something and they love to post paper signs on the drive thru speaker system. One is better off going to the other locations in Target or Kroger, but those locations cannot honor Starbucks rewards. read more

One star! They were terrible and completely ruined my life!!! My gosh, where do I begin? I just got my boy Geran back from the Hell that is Young's Dairy and he was dying to get some starbies (that's what the gals and i USED to call Starbucks, we know call them StarF*&ked Up Ellis' Relationship With Geran) and I brought my beautiful baby boy Geran to get some StarF*&ked Up Ellis' Relationship With Gerans. Now I don't usually stray away from my fluid of choice, Mountain Dew because everything other than The Dew that I drink gives me Sulfur Burps, even water! But Geran wanted what he wants, and they unfortunately do not serve my fav fluid at a coffee store. So I got a venti mocha made with almond milk and NO whip cream because along with the sulfur burps, dairy gives me gas!!!! I could have easily just blown my sulfur burps out of the window, but gas and the burps are a concoction that holds no bounds. The order was taken correctly but the dummie barista put DAIRY in my MOCHA and I SCARED AWAY GERAN WITH MY SULFUR BURPS AND GASS COMBO!!!! :-(( I just got him back and he's gone again :-((( I don't know where he ran to. If anyone has seen a Geran Alsace, looks like the Ape Mr. Alsace (google image search "mr Alsace ape") then please have Home returned to his grammamma :-(!! This had to be the dumbest experience I have ever had in Starbucks. We ordered an iced coffee and a coffee made by the Clover machine. I had wanted a Kona but they were out. I would have erased Kona from the available coffee board but thats just me. I gave the cashier my money and she was to give back a few dollars and 91 cents. After a seemingly long time she said, "I'm not sure how many pennies to give you." She gave me four. The iced coffee came out quickly. My not Kona coffee took quite a bot longer. First, the barista had to chat with another barista for a while. Then, get a hug from someone else behind the counter. There was some chatting with some one else. Then she put some coffee in the machine. There was some random bottle filling and such. Finally, some coffee. It was good. Not $5 good. Ill prolly just stick with Carmel Macchiato. read more
