This is a cute coffee shop in Kettering. I like the layout of the cafe with the large windows making the space feel open. There is also seating outside for the warmer months. I got the chai and croissant--the chai wasn't special but it was nice that you can ask for the pastries to be warmed up. I got the wrong pastry and the staff were quick to correct my order. The only thing that was unfortunate was that they did not offer wifi and the main reason I go to cafes is to do work. read more

It's all in the name ... this coffee shop is epic! My fiancé was born and raised nearby, and couldn't wait to show me this cute little Kettering spot. The layout is incredibly European, with high ceilings and a shotgun-style seating area. The decor is unique and eclectic - just verging on kitschy, but never crossing that fine line. EPIC's menu is extensive ... with several espresso drinks and different roasts, PLUS a huge seasonal menu. I also noted that they offer Affogato, which I would definitely have ordered if it wasn't 9 a.m. when we visited. My fiancé ordered a simple pour over, and it was packed with flavor. I went the sweeter route - deciding to try an "Autumn Spice" latte, which is pumpkin and caramel, topped with whipped cream. I loved every sip - and also love that when you "dine in," they serve your coffee in a ceramic mug. We stayed a while to co-work, and jammed out to their soft, coffee shop tunes. I'd highly recommend a visit if you're in the area ... for anything from a quick cup of coffee to-go, to a nice place to sit and spend a few hours. read more

The workers were so kind and very accommodating. However, the coffee price was absolutely ridiculous including an upcharge of 2 dollars for oatmilk. The flavor was either too sweet to the point of undrinkable or it was not even in the realm of flavors as what was advertised. It seemed like a really nice place to sit down and study but the lack of a drinkable latte with a reasonable price will make me never want to set foot in that store again. Needed an afternoon pick me up while running errands in the area. The staff were welcoming and happy to explain their menu crafted drinks. Opted for a seasonal hot latte and the OH-IO. While both drinks were flavored with syrups and other ingredients the espresso shots weren't overpowered. So they still tasted like a real coffee based drink. Also appreciated that they weren't overly sweetened either. There's a variety of seating options from high counter bar seating, communal tables, and comfy sofa seating. EPIC attitude. I came here because I wanted to patronize a local small business. I found the place very unwelcoming from the beginning. Rules and restrictions regarding who can sit where are posted everywhere in bold red letters, and there is no WIFI access. So if you came in to grab a drink and do some work, you won't be allowed to sit at a tiny table unless there are at least two people in your party and everyone makes a purchase, even if the place is completely empty. Oh yes and no WIFI. Becaus as I was told 'this is not an office.' Well, it won't be a coffee shop for long either with this atmosphere! If you want great pastries and coffee that are less expensive and come without a side order of attitude, I suggest one of several other places nearby, including Dorothy Lane Markets' coffee areas or Winnan's Coffee shop- both locally owned and waay more friendly. read more

I've never been treated more rudely in my adult life than by the old barista who sniped loudly at me, throwing accusations and when corrected turned his hateful back on me. He refused to apologize. My kids and I just discovered this gem! It is aptly named because the lattes are truly EPIC! Seriously--the best lattes we've ever had! We tried the mudslide, Ohio, and salted caramel ones, and they popped with authentic, rich flavors and were artisan-crafted. So excited that this coffee shop is here! It's got a really nice vibe inside that reminds me of the coffee shops I go to in New York. There are tables, a counter and cozy little alcoves with couches. The staff were really friendly and still in that "we're so glad you came in, let us impress you!" stage of a new business. I was surprised to see they also have ice cream (may have been gelato, I didn't read the signs) and a food menu in addition to the scones and pastries in the small case. The coldbrew was solid. I love that they have macadamia milk! Soda was good. The one hot drink I ordered was not great but that's on me because I ordered a flat white with coconut milk. I knew as soon as it came out of my mouth it was a really bad idea. The barista didn't actually know what a flat white was and I tried to explain but that coconut milk was going to sabotage it regardless. We also tried their version of a frappuccino and it was better than that other place, mostly because their homemade whip cream was not overly sweet and so thick and creamy. The only problem is location. That corner shopping strip has always been a pain. I'm a little worried about parking. Of course we all put up with it when Bagel cafe was there. Just don't expect to always be able to park super close. Kid friendly update: Came back today and thoroughly enjoyed lunch with the munchkin. We especially appreciated the toys and the iced matcha latte with macadamia nut milk was the best I've had in Dayton. read more

I adore this place. After living nearby and driving past frequently, we dropped in once to try it and immediately became big fans. I try to go once a weekend now! Here's a summary: Their coffee and espresso are incredibly rich and strong - my mom said it reminded her of the espresso in Italy. Highest praise. Their pastries are delicious - try the ginger butter scones or the kouign-amann - and my husband likes their dulce de leche French toast for breakfast. They also have sandwiches, soups and salads. I won't say it's cheap. The coffee pricing is about on par with what you see in higher end coffee shops. However, it a little bit less expensive than Starbucks, and SO much better. I feel it's worth the value. In short, the food is wonderful, and it's also a place you want to stay for a while and read a book. I tried a Cortado and their daily brewed coffee. Both were fresh and very flavorful. The Cortado was just as good as what I've had at places like One Line, Staufs, and Brioso. Staff was friendly and provided great service. Ambiance was cozy as I sat on one of their couches. I did want to order a pastry but the daily order hadn't arrived yet while I was there. I'm a tea-drinker, but, paradoxically, a chronic coffeeshop frequenter. EPIC has great tea: Rishi. If you like black teas, try the China Breakfast (fantastic). Even better, EPIC smell delightful--that excellent, pure coffee smell. So EPIC is a tastefully designed, well-curated shop with great music, nice atmosphere, comfy couches, outside seating, and even ice cream. A good choice for a conversation, a date, even a small meeting. As an out-of-towner, I stop here often on trips to write and read--great vibes. Note, they're closed on Sundays. read more

I was so excited about this coffee shop opening and hoped it'd be somewhere I could stop on my way to work. Sadly, I have to be at work at 7 am and they do not open until 7, thus being the first strike against them for me. As a lover of coffee, but only liking iced coffee, I ordered a Carmel latte on my stop there. I found it to be overpriced (I'm assuming 16 oz) was $5! I always try to tip 20%, thus making this drink $6. It was almost too creamy and was just OK. With that said, the inside decor was beautiful. You could tell a lot went into the planning. It was warm and inviting, although I do agree with the previous review that said the ordering counter/waiting space was awkward. I wish them the best of luck, but will be taking my iced coffee orders to one of the other local shops. read more
