Met a friend for a quick bite while in Gowanus. This is the first time I've eaten at this particular Starbucks. I'm obsessed with the Cherry Chai latte which still surprises me because Cherry and latte would not be a regular craving for myself in a chai drink. However, the presentation and flavor of the drink continues to wow me. My friend ordered the Grilled Cheese on sourdough bread which is the first time I tasted this sandwich: even a small bite packed an ooey gooey cheesy yumminess. This Starbucks is spacious and has nice seating options. The one disconnect is the cleanliness: paper, garbage, straws littered the floor and tables could be cleaner; sorry to say is really not kosher. Additionally, the wall showcasing Starbucks products had empty shelves with just adhesive tape normally where signage would stick to. I would think substituting other product and signage would be a better option. The service is friendly and my beverage was delicious and my friend enjoyed the sandwich. Come on Starbucks delicious food, cleanliness and presentation all go hand in hand. Take R train to 9th Street and exit through Fourth Avenue and 2 minute walk. read more

My only takeaway is that the service isn't good at all. The staff is very nice, but just so slow. There's been separate times where me and my friends have had to wait 20+ minutes for a drink and snack. My friend went here, once, to order a sandwich and it took 10 minutes because there were about 3 staff members behind the counter, just talking. Pre COVID I was in verity's Starbucks locations all throughout Brooklyn, Staten Island and Queens. I have to be honest, I lost faith in the brand. Prices are out of control, restrooms are not available for a customer, service has gone downhill. This location in Gowanus may have helped buck the trend. The restroom is available and clean, plenty of seating and the service is good. Prices are still out of line but it is what it is. I thank the management at this location, I am in the area fairly often and if I can find parking I will have no issue being a customer here. read more

I can see why this location has 3 stars. The staff is nice, it's quite convenient but the execution is where something is amiss. I ordered a flat white and paid for a specific flavoring. When I went to pick up my drink, I was told there was no more of that flavor. The substitutions offered were so far off, I literally asked was she a espresso drinker. She chuckle and said no..... facepalm. I supposedly got and upgrade to the next size due to the lack of flavor I purchase, but that too was not available. I ended up receiving a latte, not a flat white, loaded with a thick layer of foam. I see the next time I will make sure to ask questions first. read more

So I visited this Starbucks again on September 16 2020 and apparently nothing changed for the better. Ordered a Cappuccino on the app to make sure they understand how I wanted it and asked for 3 Splenda packets. What I got was not a cappuccino because it had no foam at all, there was definitely a large amount of sugar in there ( maybe they think we can't tell the difference), the coffee in it also tasted bitter and not fresh. So I went outside and took a sip. It tasted really bad. Had to dump it and it was an expensive drink. Never had this problem at the other nearby location at 9th St. and 7th ave. New Starbucks just opened up in the neighborhood right near the F/G/R train. It's very large and they have many place to sit. They also have a huge selection of merchandise if your into buying things from Starbucks. They literally have a wall dedicated to cups, mugs, and thermoses. Drinks are good and it is very clean. Staff is rude as heck. I mean is it my fault you made the wrong drink, then you give me attitude as if it was my fault. To top it off you make the drink with regular milk after I ordered it with soy, and have to spill that and make another. Rude staff but whatever, good Starbucks so it is what it is. Nice addition in the neighborhood if your in to Starbucks, if your not into that there's a lot of mom n pop style coffee/bagel shops around the neighborhood. read more

What can I say? My go-to SB whenever I'm in the hood and they (most of the time) get my mobile orders done in a timely fashion. Most staff there are nice but on busy aka bad days, they are tight-lipped and dont smile too much. Overall, it's usually clean in here but it's hard to get a seat (like all SBs). And the restroom line is always long so you have to find other alternatives, too. Smh. read more

Do not do mobile orders here. Instead of updating their system, you'll arrive and find empty cups and bags waiting for you and THEN they will tell you they are out of your item (with an attitude). I was waiting for my order and there was a tea on the bar. I got my order a few minutes later and said " hey that's been sitting there since I got here; would it be ok if I took it?" And the woman looked at me like I was crazy and said "no" and dumped it in the sink right in front of me. Now I'm not trying to get freebies or play them or anything. That had already been paid for and ordered, and no one claimed it. If she wanted it for herself and took in the back I would've understood. What I don't understand is why you would just let something go to waste. Like I said it was already paid for, they got the money for the product AND their labor through the price of the drink. I come to this Starbucks every so often, and it's always a decent experience. Today when I ordered the nitro cold brew there was a problem with the equipment, I told them it was ok and I'll just have a regular cold brew. Two minutes later I was approached at my table by one of the very kind people that worked there who told me they had fixed the issue with the nitro cold brew. They ended up giving me the nitro cold brew I ordered on top of the regular cold brew I was already drinking which was very thoughtful of them. read more

Beautifully decorated and in a great location. I would like it to be my go-to place since I live nearby, however I have a big problem with the VERY LOUD NOISES that the employees make when cleaning their stations, cleaning the floor, moving the chairs around etc.. Seems like there is a general carelessness in regards to the noise they make, and I think it is very fixable, thats the reason I am mentioning it and not to be malicious. This should be a place of relaxation, noise is very very excessive in comparison to other locations. I go there to study, read or relax; put my headphones on and still can hear the chairs being thrown around without regard, the coffee equipment being banged and thrown around!! I have been here on four separate occasions and have ordered a grand blonde in a venti cup and everytime was served by the guy with the black hat. He would ring me up and never turn around to make my coffee and give it to me until I asked for it. It is not like it was busy or there was a line. When he did finally give it to me he never pushes the cover all the way down. I've lived in the neighborhood for about a year and this Starbucks has been great for me to get my morning coffee and occasional breakfast. Over the last 2 weeks I don't know if they hired new people or what the service has been atrocious. I have gotten the wrong mobile order on more than one occasion which may not seem like a big deal except when you're allergic to both egg yolks and pork and I get my egg bites that I'm expecting to be egg whites and they're regular eggs with ham. Huge issue. And now when I order mobile before I go to work I am always stuck waiting so much longer for my order making me miss the train or late to work. But this morning takes the cake. I order about 10 min before I leave my house I waited for 10 min when I got there and still no coffee! 20 minutes for 1 coffee. And to top it off the woman working behind the counter is beyond rude saying. She has a lot going on, yeah lady guess what so do all of us. We are all headed to work.
