Love that they offer to warm up your pastries and really enjoyed my everything croissant which included savory cream cheese/cottage cheese inside. My husband got the apple danish and we both enjoyed how the apples weren't too tart. We were sad that there was no latte art on our coffees and wasn't offered any mugs as a vessel for our coffees considering how many they had and empty it was when we first entered. If you are near Industry City and want a good cup of coffee and fresh pastries stop on by. This is my second time here. Customer service provided by Kendra is warm and welcoming. I have had the blueberry and cheese pastry and the almond croissant. Both were pleasing to the pallet. Not too sweet, it was just right. I tried both coffees. The one called "spunk " is my favorite. It is flavorful and robust! The other coffee is a lighter blend good flavor but for people that may want a lighter taste. There is plenty of seating, indoor and outdoor! Came here on a rainy pouring morning. I came here for the Australian coffee. . I requested an ice coffee drip, the coffee was smooth and strong. I had it black. . The vibe here was open and big. It was in a warehouse kinda vibe. The outside has plenty of seating too but it wasn't covered when it rained. . Parking is going to be a challenge anywhere in nyc. But it's like in a warehouse vibe area, so you might be able to snag a parking off road. . Overall I loved the chill vibe here. Loved the great coffee. It's a great spot to visit if your in the area. Came by on a Thursday afternoon and ordered a latte. Coffee is a little more acidic than I normally like, but overall coffee wasn't bad. It's a little out of the way if you aren't already in the area. Even then, it's about 2-3 blocks away from the main IC area. If you're by Costco, it's a good place to stop by for coffee before your grocery run. Otherwise, I don't think it's entirely worth it to just come here for coffee. read more

Gumption is super fast! I ordered a few minutes ahead of time and they already had my oat cappuccino waiting on the counter. Service was friendly and the cafe was very nice and spacious. I'd come back to sit and read with coffee and try one of their pastries next time! read more

I work in Industry City and I'm really glad to have this place right down the street to walk to on my mid-day breaks to get my caffeine fix. It's a cute place and its rarely busy so the staff is attentive and really makes a great latte. The place has indoor and outdoor seating. They serve pastries and have some cute items for sale. This new coffee shop, soon-be-coffee roastery, and mini bakery is very spacious and inviting. In the housed inside the outskirts of the Industry City complex, this coffee shop is easy to find and boasts beautiful view of Downtown Manhattan and the industrial parts of Sunset Park. They mostly offer up their own blend of coffee, called Hammer & Tongs, which is actually really great for a blend, but the staff has assured that as the roastery grows and develops, there will be more single origin offerings too. They pastries they serve alongside their myriad of drip, cold brewed, and espresso drinks are nice too. They might even be made on-site. The staff are really friendly, so don't be too afraid to say hi and make some coffee-related small talk. Also, if you're into businesses started up by powerful women, this is the industrial coffee shop for you! The space is clean, and spacious. The cold brew is amazing. It leaves no hit of bitterness and has a light hint of chocolate flavor from the coffee bean they use, Hammer and Tong. I enjoy it black or with a oat milk. No sugar needed. Their cortado, ordered to stay is amazing as well. The espresso to milk and foam proportion is well thought-out, and the taste of the espresso really comes through. I have to emphasize that you must order the cortado to stay, because they use a glass cup instead of a paper cup which gives it the right measurement and ratio of espresso to milk. The taste is different drinking it from a glass cup as well. read more

Awesome coffee, well worth the hike from manhattan. Got a chance to do a cupping session, the co-owners are both so knowledgeable and passionate about coffee but not snobby or overly serious at all. It was such a fun hang and these two are really good at what they do. Otherwise, the coffee is top notch, and the pastries and food were delicious as well. I am looking forward to their upcoming manhattan shop, but will make the trip out to industry city at least once or twice before then for a cup of coffee and to restock on their beans. Can't recommend this place enough. read more
