Despite that, the staff is really patient and accommodating. Gold status gives you an extra refill and I get no attitude at all for my free refill requests. Excellent location for the neighborhood and University. Dog friendly outside, nice long table in the middle of the main area. Probably one of the best Starbucks in the city for hanging out. I grew up in Rogers Park and still regularly come back to visit, so I've been going to this starbucks for a while now. Drinks are always great, baristas are prompt and friendly, and the cozy, comforting vibes haven't changed a bit. I know I'm a bit biased, but this one is my FAVORITE starbucks! read more

Gorgeous Sunday beach walk, and app-ordered ~$20 in coffee/snacks. When I picked it up asked the nice man handing it to me for a water in a paper cup (far warmer outside than expected and needed water). Stopped in to get a Venti iced matcha green tea after seeing a movie at New 400 and immediately got an unwelcoming vibe from the cashier. I've never heard of a unwelcoming Starbucks barista until today. She did manage to acknowledge the man who came in after us who then acknowledged that we were in line first. AWKWARD ._. Once I got to the register she did everything to avoid me including speaking with me. I asked her to repeat what I ordered like most baristas do because it's happened where they make the wrong drink and instead she printed out the receipt and handed it to me I guess to look at what was rung up instead of using her voice to speak. The entire time we were in there she was just texting away on her phone including while ringing me up. It's not my problem you don't seem to like what you do. As far as the actual drink I ordered, the people making my drink didn't have any gloves on. I guess some locations wear gloves and some don't. Idk. Despite having issues with service in the past, they've significantly improved. They're always friendly. Sometimes it's slow, but they're busy with both foot traffic and mobile orders. I usually order ahead of time to avoid standing around. read more

This location refused to give my gold member free refills from time to time which I always shook off. I've been going almost every morning for years to get the gold member status. An employee banned me from the store when I asked for a refund after not getting my refill. She clearly saw me sitting in front of her face for an hour. What a dumb employee. It a sad day when a customer feels like a company cheated them out of the product they purchased and the disillusionary perks of a gold membership. I'll take my money and tips elsewhere. read more

This is my neighborhood Starbucks I have been going here for over 4 yrs I know all the employees and they all know me by name and all know my drinks they are all super friendly and really try hard to make your drink the way you like it, yeah the place gets super busy and some times they are a little slow but this part of town gets a lot of foot traffic with college kids and people heading to the beach only bitch I have is the self important college kids who think they need to not share tables and will sit one to a table or 3 at the 6 person tables and have their stuff spread out all over so there could be seats but isn't, also the store could use more outlets with all the people with laptops theres never enough places open to plug in read more

I had a food delivery order for a drink that was already made and ready for pickup from this location. I had to drive 9 miles from 1 restaurant to this one because they ordered food from one place and a drink from here to be delivered a block away. The order was made at 7pm. I picked up the food and drove 8 miles to this Starbucks and arrived at 7:32pm. There was no way I could have made it any faster. I was knocking on the door and the two girls working 3/3/2024 at 7:30pm looked at me and I showed on the app the order to the girl mopping through the window. It looked like she was going to walk to open then door until the other girl behind the counter told her not to and started visibly laughing on purpose to show me she was laughing at me. then they both intentionally started ignoring me and pretending I wasn't standing there. I looked and saw the restaurant was closed at 7:30 (I do not live here or place the orders). I worked in many restaurants and I would never act like they did, they were very disrespectful and if they let me explain the situation it would have made sense to let me confirm the pickup and grab the coffee that was already made and paid for by the customer. Instead I had to call the customer and she had to cancel the coffee order. I worked at restaurants even as a manager and I know she could have easily given me the order with no problem to the pos machine and it would have taken 1 second. And I wouldn't have disturbed their closing because the drink was pre ordered through a third party app to be ready when I arrived. These workers are a disgrace especially the girl behind the counter who was probably the shift leader. read more

Friendlier staff than the average Starbucks, comfy chairs, reliably solid pastries. I know we're all supposed to hate chains, but I like that unlike a locally-owned place, I know the staff gets health insurance. I like that it's open EARLY (5:30am!! - for someone who has a store to open BY 7 - this makes them TOPS for me!) ... the other two "coffee shops" in the hood - aren't open before 7... and, frankly, I am going to support the store that coincides with my schedule. Hello...with so many cafes in Rogers Park no one should ever consider Starbucks their coffee destination of choice. But I wanted to write a review not of the coffee really but of the ENORMOUS puddle outside of Starbucks that I've come to call "The Starbucks Puddle." Whenever any trace amount of precipitation falls from the sky, regardless of form really, The Starbucks Puddle emerges. It is: a quasi-lake which cannot be traversed on foot unless you're willing to stand ankle deep in road water backwash-slash-sludge. Conveniently, it also extends down the block such that to cross it you actually have to walk to the first driveway on the street even to have a CHANCE at making it home somewhat dry. Personally, I think this is a ploy by Starbucks...after that unexpected excursion, who wouldn't need (and I mean NEED) to stop in for some kind of espresso-laced goodness? Clever. It's Starbucks. Somewhat like reviewing McDonalds. What differs are the people working here (all nice...some students...some really excellent "baristas" if you will...others not) and the "touches"--they have a great big green squishy chair and at the little place you pick up your ridiculously expensive triple grande soy latte they put out the daily horoscopes (which I love) and a pitcher of ice water. I've never seen that at another Starbucks...hence the extra star. Note to Starbucks: I'll give you 5 STARS if you get The Starbucks Puddle sorted out. I can't afford your drinks more than 2x a week, leaving me roughly 4 days of wet cotton socks accompanied by latent anger and resentment. read more

The coffee and service are fine, that's not an issue (or at least it wasn't today). However, I was NOT a fan of the setup inside this Starbucks. Most of the seating is either at the windows or at one long communal table with just a couple of 2-top tables along one side. This makes it a really difficult place to meet up with friends and talk. Also, there were no high chairs, so I had to sit with my squirmy 1-year old in my lap, which made it pretty tough to drink my coffee. Finally, the entire store was freezing. I get it that it's cold outside and the door is going to be frequently opening and closing, but other places somehow make it work. Wouldn't rush back to this location. read more

This is my chill out place. Good coffee, great staff! The staff seems to be able to handle the weird and clueless people of this diverse neighborhood. They are always polite when someone just comes in constantly for JUST water. It is a smaller space than some Starbucks so there can be a little crowding and they prefer if you line up along the pastry case to help ease the congestion. I used to study here occasionally during 2007 and 2008. Back then I had a decent impression of the place, including the staff. I stopped by this am for a mocha. The two person team manning the fort were kind and friendly....but painfully slow and not great at their jobs. They messed up the two drinks in front of mine. They also messed up my drink. What I thought would be a quick mocha run turned into ten minutes, even though there was no line when I arrived. And my mocha tasted like a steamer. This Bux sux (at least today). read more

I have been on this review every Starbucks I go to and make a list of the best ones. So this is one that would appear on that list. My first visit and I have to say the staff was cheerful and just super nice. I was able to get a nice table by a window. They seem to always have a lot of foot traffic but people seem to get coffee and go because I am guessing the parking situation over there is horrific. It took me about 30 mins to actually find a park. They do have WIFI which is a huge plus. If I am up in the area again I would definitely go back!!!!! read more

Starbucks gets an automatic 3 stars, I'd say. It's never awesome, and it's never bad. Consistent -- you always know what you're getting when you walk in the door. Except -- I came here and needed an internet connection to work. The wifi was down and it had been down for several hurs -- and this happens on a regular basis. Adding to the enjoyment, the baristas did not tell me about this until after I had ordered and wrestled with the wifi for at least a few minutes, wondering if the problem was me. Seriously? I come to this Starbucks every day. I'm a huge fan of SB in general, but I really enjoy this store because of the staff. The staff have always been very friendly towards me. They always accommodate me and my ridiculousness (aka, I really like the nitro lid and they always allow me to use it on my iced drinks). The staff always attempts to get to know who I am since I'm in there nearly daily. I see a variety of different staff and like I stated, they're all very kind. I would suggest everyone go here. It's not typically packed in the mornings, though maybe on a Friday it is. There is an outside patio with chairs and cushions for when it's nice out. It's right smack dab in the middle of the quiet end and quiet end of North Sheridan Road. On a warm day, this is a nice place to sit and read a book. read more

Normally go to this Starbucks on my days off. Because near my job has a more convenient drive thru. This place in my opinion is just like any other Starbucks you visit in Chicago. Busy, almost never a place to sit. Lines near the door (during peak hours) they get you in and out. The patio during the summer is pretty good. Only downfall of that is the street traffic is loud. Rude, crabby counter staff. If Starbucks field management were to experience the kind of service I received here they would be appalled. If my drink is made incorrectly, Starbucks baristas have always happily corrected the order. Here mockery and " take it as is", seems to be the rule.
