Prettiest Starbucks ever! This has been on my list for a while after seeing their instagram ads, and it didn't disappoint. I came in when Starbucks finally brought back the s'mores Frappuccino after it's been gone for years, because a s'mores frap on the beach in July just sounded right. The store was clean and there was no line. I got my usual bacon/gouda/egg sandwich and the frapp. The sandwich was great as usual. The frapp wasn't as good as I remember, but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that the recipe changed since it's been a while and that they didn't just do it wrong; unfortunately, I don't think I'll be getting it again because it's not as good as it used to be and no longer worth the calories. Now for the reason I came here instead of a closer Starbucks: the view. The patio outside is right across from the beach. It's definitely hot, but the tables have umbrellas. It was so relaxing to sit and have my breakfast in the morning, looking out at the ocean. If you're looking for something a little different or a way to just treat yourself, I'd definitely recommend this! read more

A Truly Unexpected Bright Spot in Fort Lauderdale This is my first time ever leaving a review, and honestly, after reading so many negative reviews (including ones about this Starbucks), I felt it was finally time to put something positive out there. I'm visiting Fort Lauderdale on vacation, and after a long flight and a one-night stay in a hotel with a bed that sagged in the middle, I found myself wandering the streets at 4 a.m. with a terrible backache. Between taking ibuprofen, being offered what were clearly stolen "iPhone... or maybe AirPods?" (the guy could only get out that it was an Apple product but couldn't quite figure out which one), and watching the crescent moon over the Atlantic, all I could think was: Starbucks will open soon. And that first cup of coffee would make everything better. When I walked in, the barista--Marie Taylor--greeted me warmly. I asked for a Pike Place in a ceramic mug with some cream and asked if I could take the ceramic cup outside. Her response--"Yes, you can sit anywhere you like"--was said in such a genuinely warm, inviting tone. Marie then went to the back, grabbed a real ceramic mug, and even warmed it with hot water first--just like a seasoned coffee pro. Somehow, watching her pour out that hot water sparked an idea for an important lecture I'll be giving soon to about 1,000 people. Then she presented the coffee with both hands, almost like a small gift. And honestly? It felt like one. That simple, thoughtful gesture set the tone for my entire morning. Even the little imperfections--the not-so-tiny coffee spill, the guy lighting a cigarette beside me despite the giant "No Smoking" signs, the odd house/dance music blasting from the entrance of the Westin--none of it could ruin the moment. I finally gave up on the surrounding noise, plugged in my own (legitimately purchased!) AirPods, and turned on my wife's birthing playlist from 12 years ago--oddly perfect for a quiet sunrise. At one point a Home Depot commercial cut into that playlist, but even that couldn't break the mood. As I sat there watching the sun rise over the Atlantic and the sky shift into a deep crimson, I genuinely felt tears well up. It was one of those rare reflective moments that stay with you. My experience was so good that I went back inside and ordered oatmeal made with steamed milk to settle my stomach from the ibuprofen. Perfect. For a store that gets a lot of undeserved criticism, I just want to say this: my visit was amazing, and Marie made my early morning in Fort Lauderdale something I'll remember for a long time. We had down time in Florida while we were stuck waiting for our plane. our flight out got cancelled and then rebooked for a much later time. We had nowhere to stash all of our luggage so we ended hanging out here for a few hours. The store was clean. The staff was friendly. It was cool inside. Prices were florida prices so kinda high compared to home. The drinks we purchased were normal starbucks quality. I was looking forward to a nice breakfast sandwich and a latte, but it seems that my expectations for a Saturday morning were too high. It seemed that the staff was friendly and attentive, but one of the girl baristas did not like the fact that I asked for 2 cups of water. I just spend a good amount and did not expect the attitude. The shop was not busy but clearly I interrupted her cell phone scrolling. Another girl that took forever to order one drink, interrupted her and she did not mind her asking to have a new drink made since she did not like what she had ordered. As for the food, the latte lacked flavor and the breakfast sandwiches were not warmed up properly. The highlight was the lemon pound cake! The reason for the 3 star rating is due to the cashier charging me $13 for a drink that they can't make. The barista said we can't make that, so I'm like ok, do I get money back? In general, Starbucks is pretty terrible coffee. Desperate times when on vacation. I visited 2x, one espresso drink, one cold brew drink. Honestly the worst espresso I've ever had. 2 pumps of syrup and still tasted like burnt trash. I choked it down. How do people pay for this junk? Back in the 80s I met my wife here when it was Penrod's nightclub (1987) so needless to say we are biased about this spot and this view. One of the most serene Starbucks I have visited. With a blue interior and an outside covered patio with views of Las Olas Beach, this one is a gem. They also made my green tea well - exactly as requested, something I have not been able to achieve with other Starbucks recently. The patio area is raised so the cars don't really obstruct the view of the blue waters. You can access the entrance via stairs/ramp off of Seville Street. I have been here a few times and it's never too crowded; partly because it's semi-hidden in the Westin building. They have the full line of food, coffee, and other drinks, and the employees are always friendly & knowledgeable. I have a love and hate relationship with this Starbucks. The coffee and food are exactly as you would expect. I get out to this Fort Lauderdale location a few times per year and there are consistently extra long lines here and it takes forever to order, especially in the mornings. I get it, the area is full of hotels on the beach and everyone wants their morning coffee. What I don't get is why they don't have 1-2 more staff to move things along. Lines often have 20-30 people in them. It's crazy. Just not run nearly as efficient as the locations in say New York or Toronto. The "love" part comes in as you can sit outside in the warm weather and enjoy your coffee / breakfast with a beautiful beach / ocean view in January & February. This starbucks branch is large, clean, well lit and has plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Pricing is a hair more than your other non-hotel-based-starbucks. Since this branch is run by the Westin it, unfortunately, does not accept, or participate, in starbucks rewards. read more
