Saturdays are really busy so was glad I decided last minute to book a table. The menu is filled with sandwiches, bagels, paninis etc and all come with soup for £5.95 which is a bargain when you see the portions. However the most popular order seemed to be the high tea for two, which at £5 per person is amazing! The atmosphere is lovely, with a mix of couple, familes and quite a few grannies being treated to tea and cakes by their grandkids. The decor is nothing fancy, but the setting and welcoming staff easily makes up for it There is fabulous selection of Suki teas and homemade baking. Soups of the day this week were tomato with basil and potato and leek. Last wee I tried the curried butternut squash which was amazing! The setting is lovely and the food is well worth the 15min drive from Dennistoun. There is a garden centre and lovely views onto the loch so you could easily spend a few hours over a coffee, chatting and escaping city life. I can't speak highly enough of this place and look forward to making myself a regular! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Tea-House-On-The-Loch/141357772588944?fref=ts

It was a rainy day: drizzling : that consistency of rain that makes you feel a bit run down. I was met with the most delicious, warming coffee: a very smooth latte, that had such a lovely taste that there was no need for a drop of sugar. They were out of most of their pastries by the time I sat in--due to their popularity, I have no doubt. I chose one of their remaining items: a small cake that had a touch of lemon and a raspberry on top of a creamy frosting. It was delicious--a welcomed treat when I felt in need of a pick me up. I did not have a chance to test their food so am unable to comment. Do note however: This is a VERY small place. Cozy to be sure, but small and by no means for larger groups. It is ideal for the soloist and duos to come in and have a fairly quick coffee, cake, and food (I assume). This is NOT a place to study. There are no comfortable lounge chairs, chairs or tables. The seating is composed of stools that reside at two bars. It's kind of reminding me of Italian style cafes where you drink your espresso at the bar, across from the barista who just served it to you (though in Rome, they don't offer you stools even!). Given the level of their coffee and cake, I'll be back again soon.

There are no bathrooms which is a downfall but it was close enough to our hotel. I got the chorizo bagel both days I went and a latte. They have display cases of baked goods and sandwiches. I was with our lovely Debs M. and we were waiting on David A. and Rob K. to join us. I swear it was like a Yelpers convention in there, we kept meeting Yelper after Yelper in there. Hehe!! The place is so airy and bright compared to Box of Delights which occupied here previously. I love the colour scheme and layout as it seems much bigger now. We found a wee seat while we waited on the guys, then we had one of the baristas, I presumed, sit at our table. It was a bit bizarre and he said 'yes?' We were at the time checking in on the Yelp app, we just explained we were checking in first then we were going to to order. Initially I wasn't sure if he was a member of staff or some random. Haha!! We explained what we were going to have and it seemed to end up with him taking an order. So, I'm not sure for future if you order and pay at the counter or if it is serviced tables. After our strange encounter, David and Rob joined us. As I was enjoying my mocha, in which I didn't take any sugar because I couldn't find any, it seemed rather nice. That's really unusual for me. Debs and I were wanting a wee glass of water so when I asked at the counter they pointed out a sink in the corner with some glasses piled up beside it. I thought this was a rather good idea. They have really thought this place through with their nifty ideas team and also installed plug sockets nearly everywhere that also have USB ports. Genius! Battery running low? Come here and grab some awesome food and great coffee. They also have WiFi so why not bring your office. Eh OK, maybe not your office but a laptop anyway. It's a pleasant atmosphere and I look forward to going back for maybe a wee spot of lunch.

It's a wee space so keep that in mind when visiting - there's a wee table for two as well as a window seat where you could fit about 4 people. There's good tunes, a chilled-out, welcoming vibe and of course the delicious cakes. You can also get ginger ale (made in house), toast (with butter and jam, or cinnamon brulee) and soup. They offer free wifi and are happy for you to hang out for a wee while if you want to work away on your laptop, like I am right now. I grabbed a cup of tea and the cinnamon brulee toast which is just ridiculously delicious and tasty - and a good portion at two large slices for just £1.50. As I said, it's pay what you want but everything is marked with a price which at least gives you an idea of what you should be coughing up! The window space is great for watching cars go by too, if you need some time for brainstorming.

When I found out it was owned by an artist also using the cafe as a means to display her work/support her so she could work on her art, even better. I wasn't disappointed. Stan's serves hand filtered coffee, so you wont get a latte or a cappuccino here, but what you will get is an excellent, smooth coffee and cakes and bakes from the likes of Bakery47. So far I've tried a banana and peanut butter loaf, brownies and a rose and pistachio sponge cake - all delicious. It operates on a pay what you want basis, which I liked the idea of, but was a little daunted by before going in. I shouldn't have worried though, as suggested prices are displayed and you can just choose whether or not you want to add a little extra (which is nice to do, because art). If you're travelling from elsewhere keep in mind that it's teeny tiny and maybe only sits around 8 or so people, but I've always taken away (Alexandra Park is across the road if you fancy a picnic). The owner is very friendly and when you can't make it along in person, keep an eye on her social media - her Instagram hashtag #peoplewhostareintostans is a hilarious watch of people peering into the shop suspiciously from their cars at the traffic lights. Though I do worry I'll be one of them one day...peeking in to check out the cakes on display!
