This small little coffee shop was located right around the corner from our hotel. It's a small and cozy shop with just a few tables inside. It can get busy and the lines form out the door, but the pastries and coffee are worth it. We ordered the chocolate and pistachio filled croissants and donuts. I would rate both chocolate and pistachio filled croissants a 9/10 and the donut versions of each a 7/10. I felt the croissants tasted better and had more filling. We ordered the Remix which is authentic freddo expresso, cafe crema soft serve and topped off with hot frothed milk and chocolate. This was a 10/10 and was every bit of amazing as it looks in the picture. Service was fast and friendly. One note, they don't have flavored coffees, so I couldn't order a caramel latte, for example. The hot chocolate was rich, smooth, and indulgent without being overly sweet -- pure comfort in a cup. The highlight of our visit, without question, was the affogato. It was hands down the best I've ever had. A montreal classic. Tiny shop, only meant for take out coffees. Almost always a line but it goes by quick. I like their remix a lot (a layered mix of cold espresso, caffe crema soft-serve, with hot frothed milk & chocolate). I recommend it to anyone who likes a nice sweet but not too sweet coffee treat in the summer. The affogato also isn't bad, just a bit too much ice cream for me. Came here on my best friends birthday hoping for a fun treat, it backfired. The coffee was super good and the drinks were fun! We got the cafe crema, which is super yummy and the latte freddo which is pretty good. The cafe is cute but very very small. We also couldn't find the bathroom but that may have been an us issue. The barista was pretty rude. He said my friend (whose birthday it was) should pay for my drinks and was just generally rude and dismissive. He made us feel like we were doing something wrong when we were just waiting for our drinks. Huge damper on our experience and brutal way to start a birthday. read more

I came in for a quick morning coffee and ordered my go-to cappuccino along with a chocolate hazelnut croissant. The barista was friendly and quickly prepared our order. The cappuccino was smooth and hot, and the croissant was packed with so much chocolate! After we arrived, a line started forming, so I'm glad we got there early and secured a seat, especially since it's a pretty small place. Then tried the Caffè Freddo, which came in a small cup with crushed ice -- small portion, but unforgettable flavor (4/5). The Cortado completely won me over: strong, rich, and flavorful (5/5) -- honestly, the perfect espresso drink. I also got their Bombolini, which was soft and perfectly sweet (3.5/5). The café has such a warm, European aesthetic, though it's pretty small and crowded, especially during busy hours. The atmosphere is lively but a bit tight. Came here for the first time while visiting Montreal. I was recommended this location specifically although I do know they are a chain. It was a very cold winter night but we specifically walked here because we had heard great things. The coffee was actually very good and we also got a mocha which was just as delicious. We also ordered one of their beignets/donuts (also very good) However, the barista/server was... something else. He seemed annoyed that we wanted to switched from ordering to go to "for here" - the place is quite small so there was not a lot of space but I had spotted a couple that was planning on leaving right after we ordered. Idk why that would have made such a big difference as no matter what we still ordered 2 drinks. The energy he gave off was just very rude and unwelcoming. I didn't go into another cafe olimpico again the whole trip. read more

Café Olimpico is a cozy hole-in-the-wall in the heart of Montréal. We were a little apprehensive because of the reviews and the pay-to-drink ratio, but we couldn't have been happier to have stopped by. DRINKS We ordered two iced caffe lattes and were initially surprised by how small they were compared to other coffee drinks we had had in the area. But the quality makes up for size and more. It's strong and not sweet. Any larger of a cup, and our hearts probably would've gone into cardiac arrest. Finally, there's also oat milk available as an alternative milk. FOOD We ordered two bombolonis (creme-filled Italian doughnuts)-- one filled with Nutella and the other with ricotta and chocolate chips. Both were absolutely rich and decadent. It's definitely a dessert, but we had it in the morning, and it was still delightful. 10/10 recommend. AMBIANCE The place is small and cozy (a little dim), and the vibes are definitely more suited for some long conversations or a quick dip in and out. Our second stop on our whimsical coffee-tasting journey, we serendipitously came upon this charming little place, just two minutes away from the Tim Hortons where we hanged, drew, and quartered our tastebuds. "C'était un trou de pierre où chantait une machine à espresso à '1.3'" Located on the side of a Neo-Gothic maisonnette, conveniently located next to a small copper-roofed cathedral, a pair of lovebirds chirped politely at its door. Going down the stairs that led to the half-basement that housed this bistro roma , I was reminded of those French establishments where frequented the likes of Sartre and Camus and Foucault. Alas, I remarked no members of the local intelligentsia there, discounting potentially the couple mentioned previously. When I asked the barista about the machine's pressure, he replied that the tiny screen read 1.3. Huh. Oh, and it has a screen. Erring from tradition, but who doesn't love (and, let's be real, need) the occasional maverick. 50-years fresh and blended from 5 sources, the coffee was leagues ahead of Tim Hortons, of course, but still wisps of burntness were thinly veiled in its otherwise quaint aroma. Creamy and bright, this little coffee, had spiwit, a wittle touch of dewing-do. However, hints of bitterness layed at the edge of each tiny sip, and half-finished and somewhat cooled, the coffee was distinctly sour. Sitting on the varnished wooden bench belted by a quaint little stone moat, I wondered how I would review this renegade café, reminiscent of Breville in his day. A unique, verismo experience, but not the Italian verismo. Would come again, but I'm keeping my eyes peeled for what else Montreal's coffee community has to offer. 8.3/13 read more

Apologies in advance to all Olimpico loyal customers! Located right across time-out market on Robert-Bourassa, the location is modern and on the smaller side but still charming. I was very eager when I found out that one of my favorite coffee shops opened a location near my office. Sadly, my experience didn't come anywhere close to the ones I have had in the Mile-End. The barista basically decided to put chocolate on my latte eventhough I didn't ask for it. Also the foam and coffee taste wasn't consistent with the Olimpico brand. He also decided that I should pay for the person behind me and mixing our orders as she asked for chocolate on hers. I am not sure if it's the machine, the beans and/ or the barista having a bad day or simply careless. I'll just stick to the one in the Mile-End :-) read more

I was super excited when I suddenly learned Cafe Olimpico opened a branch here. Despite being a loyal customer of Cafe Olimpico in Mile-End, it's not always feasible to go there from McGill area. So I was naturally overjoyed and excited when I found out about this branch and went there the very next day..... Well, what I found was rather disappointing. The cappuccino at Mile-End set a bar so high that I couldn't find a better cappuccino at any other cafe. So, when I ordered a cappuccino from this branch, I didn't expect anything less. To say that what I received was disappointing would be understatement. I just couldn't see how cappuccino at Mile-End and here can differ so much. It seemed to be same beans, machines etc. Is it the barista? I don't know. Maybe, I should try couple more times before giving a final verdict. But the incentive to try them again is hard to gather given there are multiple other places like Pikolo, Humble Lion etc right around the area. Damn, pretty cozy and nice place. I don't often go to coffee shops because my 0.2253$ cup of tea that I bring from home is great, so for sure every coffee is over priced to me. Although, if you just want to sit with a coworker and just have a serious and philosophical discussion about Tekken, it's nice to go out once in a while, but not anywhere. Sitting at a table in McDonalds and hearing your food neighbors talking loudly in the back of their coworkers is not enjoyable. That is why there's places like this where you can enjoy your morning drink. These guys are crushing it! New York style speed, excellence, and that Italian edge you know you need in your life. Tiramisu was off the chain, and the young upbeat staff were on fire.
