Teavana Tea in my reusable Starbucks cup
Mike F.

This Starbucks generally has pretty good baristas. The manager seemed quite chatty and friendly with customers and checked to make sure I had been served before moving onto her next customer. Friendly service with a smile on her face! Reason why I gave this location a 4 star rating was just because of my interaction with the barista who actually served me. He was good, not great. He didn't realize that he had over charged me for my tall tea - and had accidentally typed in something else - but luckily I caught it before we scanned my card. He did remember to put in the reusable cup discount - which is great, some peeps forget, but he forgot to ask me to take off the lid on my reusable cup - I think Starbucks must have that for safety and hygiene reasons. In the end, he gave me my cup without saying anything and I had to reach over and get my own sleeve. Hmm, on second thought based on that interaction alone, this review should probably be a 3... but most of the interactions I've had here have been better. But it's Starbucks. You know what you're getting... generally speaking!

This lovely Starbucks just happens to by my neighbourhood location and I'm oh-so-thankful! The staff are superb, there's a great patio (mind you the view of Carling is less that thrilling...but still!), and they've never screwed up my order. There's lots of great seating here and of course, the added plus of speedy WiFi. Comfy chairs, lots of windows and a few work tables make it a great place to get some work done and daydream. I'm only giving them five stars because I still don't love their coffee, though I suppose it's just my taste buds and no fault of Starbucks. I do however, absolutely LOVE their shaken iced tea (I always get black and sometimes with lemonade), skinny vanilla lattes and ginger molasses cookies. Try their scones with raspberry jam as well - simply divine!

Feeling the heat we stopped in while cruising town for the weekend for the Rammstein concert. Oh so tasty coffee frappe with an espresso shot. ;) super helpful peeps who waited before lidding to offer not-included whipped cream-just in case I wanted it. Wow

Relaxing!

It is a go to place for cyclists. The indoor seating though, is rather uncomfortable for some reason. The service is good, and bonus points for latte art! It is busy for a reason. I went on a Sunday morning and it was packed. Lots of people visiting after spending some time outside which is great.

And many spots to sit outside in nice weather. Baked goods are hard to resist. Small but mighty selection. Everything is good! Coffee is reliably well made, and the cozy seating area is great on a cold day. What I love about inside is the low key quirkiness, from old hair salon chairs to snow shoe art, I usually spot something I've never noticed before. They do also have a small light lunch type of menu, and anything I've ordered from that has been tasty. Staff are top notch - well versed on the product, always genuine, and efficient. It's a little gem hidden away in the neighborhood. In summer, parking can be a challenge, and the ice cream line looks daunting. But good things come to those who wait, and the line moves at an efficient pace.

Of all the coffee shops in town, I believe I like Bridgehead food and beverages the best! This location has a unique shape (but what doesn't, at Pinecrest!) - it's sort of a lopsided U-shape; lots of windows with tables snuggled up to get the best of the sunlight. And plenty of seating. It was quiet here this evening, with only 2 other patrons at separate tables. Surely they get busy during the day, even with the competition in easy walking distance - including Ikea!! The staff was friendly and helpful, even suggesting a less sweet maple latte, and recommending the discount pastries. They're open 'till 9:00. I look forward to coming back!

Good selection of baked goods and they also sell coffee, lol ;) The Long Version: The Bower Coffee Company opened up about a year ago in the summer of 2024. Usually I like trying out new businesses that open up in my neighbourhood, but admittedly I'm not a coffee connoisseur. I doubt I'd be able to tell the difference between a $50 cup of Kopi Luwak and a cup of Folgers instant coffee, lol. So coffee shops don't really excite me. However, I recently learned that Bower Coffee Company sells baked goods from a business called Adam Bakes. I've been wanting to try treats from Adam Bakes for a while now, but they are only open on Saturdays 8am-12pm and not in my neighbourhood, so their limited hours have prevented me from trying them. I didn't realize that they also sold their baked goods to other businesses for resale, so when I discovered this, I planned a little coffee date for my husband and I at The Bower Coffee Company :) I chose a Cinnamon Swirl Blondie from Adam Bakes ($4.85) and my husband chose a Peanut, Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip cookie from Art-Is-In Bakery ($5.25) and we got a regular 12 oz coffee ($3.25). The coffee tasted like any other coffee to me (unsurprising, lol). My husband is more of a coffee connoisseur than I am and his comment was it was a bit too watery, but otherwise ok. I loved the Blondie. It was rich and I think there's cheesecake swirled into it because it had creamy bits to it. It had a potent cinnamon flavour. I really enjoyed it and so did the hubster. I ended up hauling my butt out to Adam Bakes the following Saturday morning to try their other offerings, which weren't available at Bower Coffee. Adam Bakes will get its own review. I noticed that the prices are cheaper buying directly from Adam Bakes than at Bower Coffee, but I guess that's not surprising. The cookie was unremarkable in my opinion, but the hubby enjoyed it. It had whole peanuts in it as well as peanut butter and chocolate chips. It was soft and chewy, and the whole peanuts gave it the occasional crunch. Service at Bower Coffee was great. The barista asked me for the Blondie if I wanted a centre piece or an edge piece. I know some people like the crispiness of edge pieces, but I prefer the softness of centre pieces, so I was happy to be asked. The decor is clean lines minimalist. It's not a huge space, but has a decent amount of tables. It was bustling on a Sunday morning. Overall, a nice place for a coffee date, albeit a bit pricey in my opinion, but I get it, everything is expensive these days :/ We walked there, but it's street parking only for those coming by car.
