An excellent place I recently discovered. Wonderful service, great espresso drinks, and lots of cool wholebean coffee to buy for at home!

TL;DR/The Short Version: Delicious bubble tea at this shop…read moretucked into the corner of a plaza. No real seating so I'd say takeout only. The Long Version: Bliss Tea opened up where Sip Tea used to be on Merivale Ave. I think they just rebranded because their drinks taste similar and when I entered my phone number to collect points, it already knew my name despite it being my first time there (I had an account with Sip Tea. Mind you I lost all those points and had to start over with Bliss Tea). I got the Coco Mango ($6.49) and added Tea Jelly (an additional $0.80). I got 30% sweet because 0% was not an option. I also got less ice. My drink was delicious! It contained lots of real mango pieces, rich and creamy coconut milk, and the tea jelly had a nice tea flavour and good texture. The tea jelly is big blobs of jelly like the pudding jelly or herbal/grass/Mesona jelly that's also a bubble tea topping option. It's not neat little cubes or rectangles like coconut jelly. They have a self-ordering kiosk where you select what you want on the screen and pay by card. If you want to pay cash you have to order from the cashier, but you can only pay cash at the cashier. You can't order from the cashier and pay by card. So many rules, lol. There are instructions next to the self-ordering kiosk and on the kiosk itself so it's pretty easy to use. I was thankful for the instructions because the screen was all in Chinese when I started but there were arrows that pointed where to press to change the language. Once it was in English it was really straightforward. Service was quick. I had very little interaction with staff. They basically called out my order number and gave me my drink, lol. There's no real seating. There's this bench along the wall towards the front and 2 really short stools (one of which was on top of the bench). I think it's just a place to sit while you wait for your drinks. It doesn't look like a comfortable place to hang out for long. The shop is in a plaza, so there's free parking in the shared parking lot. I'll definitely be back to try out other drinks. (194)

It is a go to place for cyclists. The indoor seating though, is rather uncomfortable for some reason. The service is good, and bonus points for latte art! It is busy for a reason. And many spots to sit outside in nice weather. Baked goods are hard to resist. Small but mighty selection. Everything is good! Coffee is reliably well made, and the cozy seating area is great on a cold day. What I love about inside is the low key quirkiness, from old hair salon chairs to snow shoe art, I usually spot something I've never noticed before. They do also have a small light lunch type of menu, and anything I've ordered from that has been tasty. Staff are top notch - well versed on the product, always genuine, and efficient. It's a little gem hidden away in the neighborhood. In summer, parking can be a challenge, and the ice cream line looks daunting. But good things come to those who wait, and the line moves at an efficient pace.

When I saw The Bulldog Cafe on Google Maps, I knew I had to go there! They are a food truck and their specialty is waffles shaped like bulldog faces. How cute is that?!? My first visit was just with my mom to check it out. Waffles are $5.99 each, but if you buy 4 it's $22.99. We got 4. I wanted the pepperoni pizza waffle, but they were out of pepperoni, so I got a cheese pizza waffle and an apple cinnamon waffle. My mom decided to get the same, lol. The lady working there, I suspect is the owner, and she was lovely. She brought out a box filled with activities to entertain us while we waited, lol. There was a dog-themed card game, some crayons, colouring books and more, lol. We just walked around, but these activities would be great for kids! They have a colourful picnic table and a smaller kids' picnic table next to the food truck. They also have some bulldog shaped planters around the food truck. The decor is adorable! The waffles themselves were good. We really enjoyed the apple cinnamon ones. They had plenty of apple chunks as the filling and was topped with cinnamon sugar. The cheese pizza one was good, but too light on the cheese. The waffles had a nice texture, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. She gave us a loyalty card where you buy 8 you get the 9th one free. We were halfway to getting a free one :) I knew my little nieces would love this place, so on my second visit, I brought them with my mom and I. They both love Nutella, so they wanted the Nutella waffle and got one each. My younger niece only wanted one waffle, but my older niece wanted 2, so she also got an apple cinnamon one. We were going to get the cheesecake waffle for my mom and I but they ran out, so we got a Tiramisu waffle instead. And with the purchase of those 4, we filled up our loyalty card, so for my free one, I got the pepperoni pizza waffle that I wasn't able to get on my first visit. The girls loved their Nutella waffles. They were filled with so much Nutella. The Tiramisu waffle had a strong Tiramisu flavour and we enjoyed it. I was hoping the pepperoni pizza waffle would have more cheese this time, but again it had very little cheese :( It was mostly just pepperoni and tomato sauce. I should have tried another flavour, lol. My nieces loved the activity box and they enjoyed our little outing. I would definitely recommend this place for kids. The food truck is in the parking lot where Apple Saddlery is. There are 2 other food trucks in the same parking lot. Lots of free parking.

I imagine people like Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell in their early years hanging out in places like the Art House, to give you an idea of the ambiance ;) I grabbed a breakfast sandwich and a lunch wrap to go. The Southwest Chicken Wrap ($9.85) was really tasty. It had pieces of chicken, rice, black beans, cheese, and corn (which I picked out, lol). It had a bit of a spicy kick, but I'd still consider it mild (or at most on the milder side of medium). The breakfast sandwich was an English muffin, cheese, egg and bacon. I like that it was real cheese and not like a processed Kraft Singles kind of cheese. Very tasty. Staff are super chill and friendly. I'll need to come back sometime to hang out. I really wish I'd gotten a photo of the little waiting area. They have all these colourful couches and lamps. It's like a little parlour. The spot is just so cozy. I even had to take a picture of the walls where the downstairs washrooms are located. They had gorgeous sunflowers painted all over them. The service is every bit as good as the food. The mimosas are worth it, lots of bubbles (some places really skimp, not Chesterfield's). They have many gluten-free options, which always makes me feel like I can eat like everyone else. I ordered the Bird's Nest Benny. The eggs were the most perfectly poached I've ever had at a restaurant. A side came with the benny, and I got the baked beans. The food was absolutely delicious. Potatoes, eggs, bacon, and maple-lime hollandaise that was to die for. There was so much food. Impossible to walk away hungry. Service was perfect as well.
