Good coffee, a great space and wonderful staff makes Happy Goat worth going a bit out of the way for. A patio, coffee bar and a beer bar make the space flexible. Would I return? Yes Would I recommend? Yes

A hip coffee shop in a middle of a semi industrial district in Ottawa certainly blew my mind. But the best coffee in town label was a definite seller. When you arrive to the front door you think that this is a warehouse and a coffee roasting "factory" rather than a coffee shop but in actuality it is both. The door to the coffee shop is somewhat nondescript entry to what may seem to be an office in the warehouse but when you walk in you see a quiet place with tables and a sort of a "coffee bar" stand where you can order a cup to stay or go. We were there on a Sunday so I can only imagine how busy it may get on a weekday because coffee is really good but a selection of pastries may need to have a little work. Coffee was amazing. Great tasting and not too bitter and just with the right amount of both foam and caffeine. I think this is a must visit in Ottawa if not for the scenery but just for the hell of it..

Wow! I dropped my car off around the corner to get new tires, and to kill some time saw this place. On the outside and the surrounding area everything looks super industrial, so my expectations were really low. But step inside and this place teleports you to like a cool San Francisco like cafe with crafted coffees, nice selection of breakfast sandwiches and lunch sandwich options, pastries, and roasted coffee beans. Really cool atmosphere, chill vibe with ambient techno playing in the background. Really impressed!

Super cozy! I came on a weekend to catch up with friends, and the place was almost fully packed. I tried a caramel latte, and it wasn't too sweet, nor too bitter. I didn't need to add more sugar due to my sweet tooth, which I usually need to do elsewhere! They had some donuts and desserts, but I was hoping they would have a cake (their instagram page has lots of beautiful treats)! They didn't this time, but next time I drop by, I'll try a baked good. Lots of seating and couches, and decor is modern; super cozy as a spot to hangout for a couple of hours!

Dropped by while we passed Ottawa to Quebec. We ordered black drip coffee, cappuccino and golden latte. Their coffee is better with espresso drinks, so the cappuccino is pretty good. the black drip coffee is way too bitter without much flavour except charcoal taste. The golden latte is reasonably, could be a bit more spice and less sugary.

Highly recommend the Happy Goat booch!

Good place to hide away from the main drag, enjoy a cup of coffee, get some work done or read a book. Friendly staff, nice treats and craft beer. I happened to stumble upon a beer tasting session today, good buzz in this artsy garage looking coffee shop.

Another one of my favourite coffee spots in Ottawa! Happy Goat are local roasters, and they also have a cozy store front. I've been there many times to drink coffee and read, and I've picked up some awesome beans that I use at home from them. The owner and staff and extremely knowledgeable about their beans and they have some unique methods for serving coffee that others don't have in town. Highly recommended place, check it out, you won't regret it!

Roasting coffee in the shop means this place smells amazing.

Favourite spot to grab a coffee and grab some great beans in Ottawa. I love the shop itself, which is in a cool almost-industrial location just outside both Little Italy and Hintonburg. In the summer, they open up the front so they have a patio with comfy chairs and a nice, open feel. In the winter they move it all in and keep it cozy. Lattes, Americanos, and drip coffee are all solid. Haven't tried any of their teas or treats, but the offer some pastries and tea in addition to the coffee-based beverages. This is also the best selection of Happy Goat beans in the city - at least that I've found. They have a wide array of beans and roasts, from more exotic and challenging African coffees like the Tanzania to divinely accessible, chocolatey Guatemala Antigua. The Sumatran beans are super earthy, but so smooth. The folks behind the counter will be happy to tell you about the different types of beans, and if you buy a large bag you get a free drip coffee with purchase. Could I ask for anything more? Well, a closer location and wifi. But it's still a great place with my favourite coffee in the city.

Coffee is always consistent and the specials are often pretty good. Bonus you can bring your dog in!

Relaxed atmosphere but the seating wasn't very comfortable and it had an industrial kind of vibe.

1 star for treatment…read more I used to go this place, celebrated birthdays & friends' reunions when their location was on Clarence and then on York St. Those time, they had friendly & welcoming staff. But, when I got hit on the hand by the metal pole of their flying patio umbrella (not bolted down or affixed to their patio table), I was dismissed ('there's nothing wrong with your hand') & told to just google their information because they don't have a business card, there's no manager or person in charge on the premises yet there were 3 women from the café who avoided my request for contact information. They did offer ice in a bag BUT only after much insisting that I'd like to speak to someone in charge of the café. Again, I was dismissed and told that there's no responsibility to be had because it was an accident and that I should leave the premises because I was causing a scene since I ended up crying because my hand was hurting. The security camera of the Byward Market building across the street caught the whole hit incident (June 16).

Not as good as I hoped…read more We had been here before and I didn't remember being impressed. But I wanted to check it out again just to make sure. My carrot monster cake was dry. It was also a little too cold such that the icing was too firm. I should have snapped a picture of the cracked side of the cake, which is a clear sign that something's not right.
