After hanging around Waterfront Park, it was getting really cold and my face was frozen. I wasn't sure if my face was moving any more. I remember seeing a Starbucks right at the entrance at the SeaBus Lonsdale Terminal. Plus, my bosses at work gave me a Starbucks Gift Card. I guess I will be needing to use the card. After walking in the front entrance, I realized one thing....I forgot my gift card....Hmmmm....Wait a minute, there was a reason why I didn't bring it. I downloaded the Android App for Starbucks and I can load my card into the program. I can use mobile payment at this location. Woot Woot!! I haven't been to a Starbucks for a long while. Sorry, I don't have a price or don't remember what I got, but it was enough to get my hands warm. Plus, I utilized the free Wi-Fi. By the way, Wi-Fi is your friend in Vancouver. Starbucks taste is very consistent from one location to another or in my case, from one country to another. This store was very quiet since there were a few just using the Wi-Fi or just relaxing on the comfortable chairs. This is a brand new Starbucks that is part of an apartment building that just opened up last month…read more It seems a little invasive and cold to be opening up a Starbucks...another one that is honestly not needed in a downtown area that already has a few only to hurt the two small coffee shops that are in the area near by. Such a dick move but that is corporations for you. Unfortunately I had to come here for a business meeting in relation to a zine article that I am writing and the person was too afraid to get out of his comfort zone to go to the mom and pop shop and just wanted his regular standard. He bought me a tea which was served politely and nicely. Enough seating inside.

And so I ended up with a bunch of stars I needed to redeem, and decided to pop in this one for a light breakfast - got a blueberry muffin (the star redemption item) and an iced matcha latte (also used stars to customize). The muffin was as expected, commercially produced and packaged and as a result, not really fresh and kind of crumbly and kind of oily, which is true of basically any food item at Starbucks everywhere and the main reason I don't like the franchise anymore. But it's close enough to decent and I have this nostalgia for years ago when either the Starbucks bakes were better or I just had lower standards so I still get a craving every once in a while, and this satisfied it. I was actually very pleasantly surprised by the matcha latte, because my other gripe with Starbucks is that their matcha seems to often be pretty tasteless, but this was the most matcha-y matcha I've ever gotten from Starbucks as far as I can remember. The matcha was completely incorporated and the latte had a little bit of the marbling of milk and matcha that I like. And finally, what really made me question my distaste for Starbucks was the environment at this store. The baristas were all really nice and enthusiastic, chatting with the customers who wanted to chat and greeting everyone with the same attitude regardless of their walk of life, and there were all sorts of people coming through. The interior is nicely designed and there's plenty of comfortable seating. Thanks to this location for turning my star-redeeming chore into a pleasant start to my morning.

(The Starbucks i usually go to has the pick up counter on the right corner, not the left) She could have said to please go to the other side but said something rather rudely in a accent I didn't totally understand. It sounded like she said they didn't get any mobile orders at all. I just told im picking up a mobile order again and she said to go to the pick up counter on the other side. But the rude and dismissive tone I got in the first place was unexpected and kinda soured my visit. Overall, this Starbucks makes good hot drinks with a nice and spacious seating area. This place fills up pretty quickly because of the nearby offices though. What makes this place really great is the high ceilings, and the large number of covered outside tables. The entire place has a very nice spacious feel. Large windows give a great view of the outside plaza, though there aren't too many people to watch here. The staff were quite friendly and helpful. Very cheery, which is nice. I tried both the sweetened chai tea as well as another tea. Both were good, but special mention goes to the Chai.
