got my red cup today, shoutout to yelp elite shonah for the reminder, because apparently i cannot keep track of starbucks holidays on my own. the cups are cute, festive, and free today with a holiday classic drink. meanwhile, the 498 robson street location is 'hello kitty less', turns out not every store got the memo (or the merch), i hear they will be restocking soon though. heard some die hard fans lined up before opening only to discover everything they wanted was already gone. the dedication! me? i just showed up on the wrong day. classic. bravo to the baristas, though, juggling "to go or stay," hot vs iced, dairy vs oat/almond/soy whatever, and still smiling through the chaos. true seasonal heroes. i grabbed a caramel brulée latte with oat milk and an iced gingerbread oat chai. both syrupy, sweet, and over 400 calories, and feeling the glucose spike coursing through my veins. let the festive holiday season begin. read more

I feel obliged to update this review as it no longer is worthy of a 5 star. Here's why. This used to be my favourite Starbucks downtown Vancouver. Why did it earn my number 1? Well....the location, the space inside, the service and the great baristas, and all that is still there except one......great baristas. Last few times, consecutively my coffee was cold. You can tell when you hold a cup of coffee in your hand that its gone cold, right? I mean....there's no heat coming from the cup. So, shouldn't the baristas be aware when they serve coffee that's gone cold or stale? I think nowadays with this location they're more worried about smiles and hellos...which is good in its own right, but people come to a coffee shop for coffee. Unless you ask for it to be iced coffee ...it really should be steaming hot. I'm not being unreasonable, am I? This is to Starbucks: I get it...your focus is Coffee and not pastries or breakfast sandwiches....as your selection clearly demonstrates, but you're dropping the ball on what you do specialize in at this location. Long story short. Make sure to take a sip of whatever you ordered before leaving the store. It might be luke warm... at best. read more

More staff than most locations. But my only complaint is that the wheelchair accessible door button doesn't work. The door doesn't open. Please fix it. Been not operational at least 6 weeks. As that's how long I've had my injury and finding it hard to get that heavy glass door open as it doesn't push in but pull to open. read more

Went in on 5/28 for a vanilla sweet cream nitro cold brew for me and my fiancé. The drink came out half foam and when I pointed this out to the staff the argued with me saying that the drink doesn't have foam (despite the clear evidence in front of their faces). I love spending $15 dollars on two drinks made incorrectly, topped off with incompetent sass from the workers. Newsflash to the dipshits who work here: I'm your customer and I'm spending my hard earned money at your establishment. Not the other way around. Never going back to this shit hole and recommend others try one of the Starbucks in the vicinity. At least you'll get what you paid for and not have to deal with apathetic losers. read more

I needed some caffeine for our drive back to Seattle. While walking back to the car on Monday, January 18th, I stopped in to grab a coffee. They take US gift cards, so I just used my gold card to grab a Triple tall cappuccino, dry ($3.58 USD). I have no idea what the price was in CAD, but that's how much I was charged to my gift card. Much cheaper than what they charge in America as I remember normally paying around $4.50 for this drink. This location has a weird layout by the coffee bar. There's no place to really stand while you wait for your drink. I was constantly in the way of people walking through the coffee shop and had to move a bunch of times to get out of people's way. Average starbucks. A plus is they have free WiFi. No password needed. read more

Too bad there was a line for the bathroom, and the lady that was 3 persons ahead decided to drop something nasty in the bathroom. THANKS, lady. Roomy, accessible. Great for people watching. Friendly staff, in spite of the lines. Professional. And they exchange your coffee if you've purchased a defective package of Via. And they do it with AN apology rather than to accuse you of daring to return it to the wrong store. (Wth? See my previous review of the one in Sogra.) Worth taking the bus from Sogra for, which is absolutely ridiculous, but true nonetheless. Of course, it's also located on a somewhat-well-known shopping mecca called, "Robson". As other reviewers suggested...best not to use the facilities here. :) read more

A bit of a mess of a store. Mostly group seating, hard to find plugs, always busy when I've tried to go in. Like, so busy there's no room to sit, busy. Staff were hit and miss. One couldn't speak English (this actually surprised me, a first for Starbucks), another couldn't understand my asking if there's a recycling bin (there isn't). Fast though, and those that did understand were kind and helpful. There are several other Starbucks within a few blocks (one a block away, huh?), so I'll try them all, as well as the coffee/tea places to find my favorites. Oh Starbucks, I don't know about this location. Usually, if I am spending $4 for coffee, I like to deal with a little bit more cheering crowd behind the counter. This location seemed to be half asleep at the customer service wheel. Because of the sleepiness, I'm relatively certain I could have reached into the till, grabbed some cash, drank my skinny vanilla latte (which was pretty good, alas the three star rating) and taken a bath in their skin before anyone would have noticed. Not that I would recommend that behavior, but $4 should go farther than just a decent drink. read more

I'm giving this Starbucks a 5/5, mainly for the amazing customer service. The baristas are super friendly, tell you when they're working on your drink, and speak your name loud and clear. The beverages are of standard quality. Layout is good with lots of seating at individual tables, communal, or outside. Location is great too - in the middle of Robson and close to the beautiful library. Honestly I don't know why this Starbucks isn't rated higher (maybe people are just nitpicky). read more

I ordered two drinks, got one after five minutes, and continued waiting for the second one. Another five minutes later after them noticing me waiting, the two girls started to stand around and talk so i asked about my second drink and they said " Oh.. yeah..." and it had been sitting in the blender in the back the whole time. Once they finally poured it for me, most of it had melted. I barely go to Starbucks for two reasons; it costs 10$ to buy two drinks, and the service is usually a disappointment. So my wife and I have stopped at this location to grab breakfast every day this week and at first I was not going to write a negative review, I was going to let it go but it has happened 3 days in a row now. We order 2 drinks and 2 pastries usually. The last 3 days in a row they kept on forgetting to make my coffee. Usually if you order a coffee such as a pike place or blonde roast it is already made all they have to do is pour it in a cup. So they would help the next 5 people in line and we are just standing there until we could get a hold of someone and ask them about the coffee?? The correct way to do it is for those who order drip coffee is take the order and pour the cup of coffee right away for them before helping the next customer. I am sure it isn't done on purpose and they get caught up helping the customers since they are busy in the mornings but the fact that this happened 3 days in a row was enough for me to write a review. read more

I've never really liked Starbucks so I went into this particular branch unwillingly due to the insistence of my friend. Natural biases aside, I still don't understand the appeal of Starbucks. If you like generically bad coffee, then yes, by all means, come here. But the ambience is non-existent and the service was horrible! The clerk rolled her eyes when forced to take an order from my friend. Despite all this, this place regularly has queues that extend beyond the door, with an equally large crowd by the counter waiting for their coffee. read more

My best friend and I aren't a huge fan of this location, however, we deal with it if we want a snack or a pick me up before a concert that we're attending. The barista's act as though serving us, even though we are chill, is such a chore. They roll their eyes when we ask for hot water even though we ordered/bought $12 worth of snacks. I know. It seams like I've missed the mark a little bit by reviewing Starbucks in Vancouver (?). However, Canadians are crazy about SBUX. Back in 1991, when Starbucks opened on Robson Street, it was swamped with business and even the highly skilled baristas couldn't keep up with the demand. In a brazen move Howard opened another one just across the street - only 15 meters away - something any sensible businessman would have called outright crazy. However, the gamble paid off and these two close by locations are some of the busiest Starbucks - not just Canada, but North America! Now there's even more locations on Robson Street. So as you shop, Vancouver's answer to Rodeo Drive you won't have to look far for your fix. read more

Convenient location for grab & go. Horrible location for stay & read. There isn't that much seating inside, and the few tables inside are arranged in a very strange layout (most tables are right next to the bar so it's really loud). Walking through is difficult when it's busy as the aisle spaces are very narrow. Plus the bathrooms were mad dirty and out of paper towels. I told the staff and they didn't do anything about it. The barristas here were also kind of rude. I wanted to redeem a rewards star for a free drink using my Starbucks card, and I thought it would do so automatically so I didn't say anything to the girl at the cash. It didn't look like it rang through as free so I asked the cashier about it. With attitude, she replied "well yeah, but you have to tell me about it first" with quite a bit of attitude. As if reloading a balance back onto my card is any trouble (it takes 2 seconds). Isn't it her job to inform customers politely of policies like that..? How would I know that if I've never redeemed a reward before? Oh, and there was absolutely nobody else in line, so it's not like I was inconveniencing anyone else. Considering how many other other Starbucks (and other coffee shops) that are in the area I don't think I will come back here. read more

I walk past two other Starbucks to get to this location but this is what we do for friends :) The lay out is odd and I wasn't comfortable sitting in the semi-circle of seats, kinda hard to have a proper convo when you aren't facing each other or maybe that's just me. My latte was made well to my specifications however my girlfriends was made a white mocha instead of a reg mocha - can't complain for her though right (this ain't her review). It will do in a pinch but I'm going to stick with my old local faithful for now, no reason to meander up this far really - unless I'm meeting a friend of course ;) read more
