Every time I walk into Revolver, my blood pressure lowers instantly. There's magic mix of languid music, coffee smells, and foliage (sit window-side and admire the trees). I'm a sucker for a good multi-roaster cafe, and Revolver is a fantastic one. They serve up beans from all over, and they do it right, thanks to staff with eyes (and noses) for detail. Barista Soho and I chatted about NYC[1], and he told me La Cabra has a bakery there[2]. Savored a lovely pourover from Toronto[3], served hot. That very same day, I returned and had a decaf espresso that slapped[4]. Ample seating. A fair bit of natural light somehow makes it into the shop. Good for a date, coworking (especially in their next door "Archive" space), catching up with friends AND discovering coffee from around the world. Lovely coffee roaster that may be a bit more focused on an unbelievable assortment of pour over options. For someone like myself who prefers Cortado/Macchiato small milk espresso drinks, it was "good" but it truly looked like heaven for the pourover crowd. My Cortado was tasty but a bit "thin" for my thicker, more viscous texture preferences. Very warm/comfy vibes and a nice place to hang out and wake up in the morning. This is my kind of coffee shop, especially when visiting a brand new city in search of the local coffee scene. Revolver is what I'd consider a multi-roaster shop with a focus on the coffee first. The bar is made up of high quality small batch grinders, perfect for grinding fresh for each cup, and a long line of pour over setups to give each cup the attention it deserves. Behind the bar you can see an Aiden by Fellows for quick batch brewing quality beans to the standards of the specialty coffee association or quick recipe testing. The menu is predominantly descriptions of the coffees they're currently brewing with a few classic and simple coffee preparations like a latte and a cortado, but nothing too involved because they focus on the coffee itself. I really liked how they separated the coffees by flavor profile so you could key in on the type of beans and roast you prefer. They offered several natural, honey, and anerobic options, which made me happy. My friend isn't a coffee geek like I am, so it was fun to see which he gravitated to and enjoy that alongside my choice, which was totally opposite. The barista side of the shop is long and narrow, with the bar predominating, but there's a great sitting area right next door that I didn't even notice until we were leaving. While visiting I wanted a coffee so we found this place. Very cute shop and pretty spacious. There is a 2nd room so head over there. I didn't find our cashier super friendly. He just said this is all we have. The menu is small so not a lot of variety and truly just basic coffee drinks. I was hoping for a frufru drink I guess but there was none. My cousin was going to order a snack but I saw little bugs flying around so I said to pass. It made it less appealing. We ended up with a cappuccino and vanilla latte. Both were smooth and good. I thought the size was a little small but this was my first latte in Canada so their sizes could be different from what I'm used to. . Overall solid coffee drink though. read more

I love that they have so many different flavours of coffee to choose from! I've tried 4 different espressos and they've all been unique and really good. Beautiful space in an old heritage building. Theres two rooms, so lots of seating to choose from. However, this place is crazy busy every time I've been here so you never know if you'll get a seat. Former 3rd wave barista here, so my espresso standards are unfortunately cooked. Revolver absolutely delivered. Everything was dialed in, the latte art was clean, service was fast, and the quality never dropped. The shop is small but the vibes are immaculate--modern, historic, and minimalist all at once. The long community table in the back is such a nice touch. Staff were super friendly and welcoming too. Would 100% be a regular if I didn't live in Florida. By far my favorite coffee shop in Vancouver! Their cappuccino was incredible and so were the flaky and buttery croissants. It's a great place to hang out and catch up with friends, but the music is pretty loud. Great for the atmosphere but not ideal if you're planning to take a work call or need a quiet place to focus. read more

Solid coffee in a convenient location! It was easy to order with the knowledgeable baristas. My iced americano was delicious and didn't take too long to be ready. One thing to note is that I came during a summer day and it was extremely hot in the shop as if they didn't have any AC on. I can't imagine being able to study or work in that hot coffee shop, but there were definitely a lot of people doing so. I recommend grabbing coffee here if you're in Gastown! The taste of their pour over coffee is extraordinary, & I could still taste flavor notes in my oat milk latte, which is hard to do. Vibe is very unpretentious and welcoming. If they weren't, then they've fooled me. I preferred the straight espresso to the macchiato in the flight, because the notes in the coffee are covered by milk - but it was worth a try to explore this cafe for the first time. Clearly a spot that has quality coffee and great options. The staff was friendly although not super helpful when the group in front of me who were clearly not well versed in various menu items were trying to decide what they'd like to have. The location was very small until we discovered the second room connected with more seating. It makes me wish they'd remove the seating my the register then because it was very tight and difficult to navigate while there were lots of people waiting for drinks and no space. Finally tried Revolver after all these time. Place was pretty busy even during odd hours, which I think speaks about their reputation. I think if you don't want the crowd, place can be good to just chill or do some study/work. Service was fast and prompt for my cappuccino but I think I am just not a fan of their espresso blend. All I had was an iced americano, so I can't speak too much about their specialty drinks. The coffee itself was good, and had nice flavor, but was a little more acidic than I normally enjoy. The only reason I took away a star was because of the layout of the cafe. It has a bar like setting, so when you're waiting for your coffee it's awkward standing next to booths that are occupied.
