listed as a "starbucks reserve," even though i'm pretty sure it quietly lost that designation a couple of years ago and it hasn't been updated to reflect this. the location at 700 west pender still has that oversized flagship feel though, soaring black ceilings, warm walnut toned wood, polished concrete floors, and an entire wall of floor to ceiling windows flooding the space with natural light. the place was busy, packed with laptop campers, people catching up over coffee, and a crowd lingering near the pickup counter waiting for drinks to appear. hanging above the seating area is this big piece of driftwood that looks like it was pulled straight off the bc coastline. twisted grain, cracked texture, sun bleached edges, very 'west coast wilderness'. towards the back there's also a giant mural mixing floral illustrations with an old sepia toned starbucks storefront scene. the whole space feels oddly nostalgic, like starbucks trying to remind everyone it used to be a small neighbourhood coffee shop. i stopped by around 2:30 pm on a tuesday hoping to check out the starbucks x miffy collab merch that's been all over social media, only to find out everything had sold out by 7:00 am. all four items gone. apparently hardcore miffy fans had been lining up around 4:00 am at different locations, so realistically i never stood a chance. ended up trying the new grande iced mango cream matcha with oat milk instead, which took about 15 minutes to come out, and unfortunately the drink itself didn't really win me over either. the matcha had a slightly bitter finish, while the mango leaned oddly sweet in a way that reminded me a bit of medicine. definitely not something i'd order again -- i'd still choose one of their strawberry cold foam drinks over this any day. read more

Stopped by this Starbucks on a trip to Vancouver and it was a nice spot. Definitely nicer than your typical Starbucks and quite larger than normal. Of course everyone wants to visit so there was a large queue and you have to wait a bit for your drink. But we didn't mind as we were just chilling and chatting away. They do have some fancy drink options and a lot more options than normal which was cool but I'm basic and stick to basic drinks so I didn't try them. There's quite a few places to sit and chill though they get filled pretty quickly. Second Starbucks reserve I visit and similar vibe. read more

I came this place twice. I know that Starbucks Reserve and good drinks. So I wanted to try it in Vancouver. I tried original hot coffee in the morning and different cold drink in the afternoon. But it was not good, very bitter taste, and threw it in the trash. I wondered if the taste was so different between Seattle and Vancouver. Not to be confused with the usual Starbucks Reserve's, but this is another great option! Love the decor and exclusive drink options that can't be found at a usual Starbucks. Be sure to check out that special menu because we tried the Shakerato Bianco and I'm totally hooked, but can't find it other places! This was a fun stop after a busy day and it was really relaxing just hanging in the coffee shop and escaping the cold, rainy weather. Lots of seating and their hours are convenient for getting coffee later in the day. read more

Sullen and unhelpful staff, slow service, Maximum security toilets requiring code to enter. Despite my having bought drinks about five minutes earlier the server made me ask three times for the sh@thouse code. Very unpleasant experience. Coffee ("Pike's Peak) was stewed and very bitter and burnt tasting (over-roasted poor quality beans). Several tables had debris from previous occupants and there was little or no effort to clear and clear the tables. read more

This place is big and set up for social distancing and covid-19 safety protocols. I was trying to complete my bonus challenge and ordered a caramel macchiato. The staff recommended the reserve blend (micro blend 21) for the espresso shot. The selling point was the deeper taste and more crema. I tried that (extra cost) and it was really good. I recommend getting the reserve blend or the special espresso which is only available at the reserve store. It makes a difference to the coffee. Very similar to the other coffee places which roast and specialize in the beans. read more

I've been here a few times, once around the time that it opened and once recently. The coffee? More or less, it is the same as your standard Starbucks. It does come in a special Reserve cup rather than your typical Starbucks cup. Of course, the Reserve is definitely a place more for the experience than the coffee itself. It was a treat to see them brew coffee on the spot with the Siphon Experience. Definitely noticed more than a few people watch the barista brew the coffee! Also, it's a great place to just relax. Starbucks Reserve is located on the Granville Mall at West Pender. The old Starbucks located 20 metres away at the Pacific Centre Mall entrance has been shuttered & is no more. It is now reborn as SR Vancouver downtown. While spacious its shape is long from one end to the other running parallel to Granville St. I would have preferred if it was on two floors or at least have a mezzanine. With ample seating, SR will bring new life to this particular corner that lay vacated for awhile. The seating arrangement however, is shall I say - needing to be changed up a bit. It's not very private. Most seating runs along the window side facing Granville St - meaning people in line to get coffee - will pass right by your table. They will be able to look right over your shoulder & get a glimpse of what's on your laptop! So use discretion when working here. However I'm kinda biased towards SR at Capitol Hill - Seattle! It's big as in Texas Big & I would have hoped this downtown Vancouver location could have replicated it in some way! Oh well. My confusion is over why this particular spot was chosen but as the saying goes - 'it's beyond my pay grade.' I assume the Big Bosses know what they're doing!? I seem bewildered only because l wonder if this spot will become a 'draw' location to get people to hang out & spend their money here? Is this a great spot to people watch? Isn't that what Starbucks is all about? Oh & the coffee thing to! Time will tell. However, this being a Starbucks of course, the faithful will flock here & I'm sure it will do well regardless. I'm still blown away by the original SR down in Seattle at Capitol Hill - second to none! It's like stepping into a scene in - Charlie & the Chocolate Factory - minus Johnny Depp & with less chocolate but still as mesmerizing! If you ever get the chance to - check it out!!! As well - see my review on it. SR Vancouver downtown on day one is extremely busy which is good for business. The lineup is moving well & customer service is cheery with lots of smiles, under stressful conditions I'm sure. So kudos to them for being polite & friendly. I still feel like for some unknown reason Starbucks in the USA has way more options than we do up North! And I really wonder why that is!?! I got what I wanted & left as it's just too nuts right now. Brand new Starbucks Reserve location replacing the previous standard Starbucks at Pacific Centre. Apparently it's the largest Starbucks Reserve in Canada at 4000 square feet. Starbucks Reserve offers drinks and other menu items (e.g., mac & cheese) that aren't available at standard Starbucks. The menu here is similar to their other Reserve location on Main Street. My Nitro Cascara Cloud was made well and comparable to those I've had at Main. The barista was very nice! Will be back to try other Reserve drinks. read more

This is definitely a step up from the regular Starbucks. They have all the regular or usual drinks that are available at a regular Starbucks. But.... This Starbucks offers more. Yup... Much more higher-end coffee. For me, I don't drink coffee. So this would not matter. My favorite drink is the Green Tea Frap. So standard.. It tasted the same here compared to the regular Starbucks. Price/quality (3/4): Unlike your usual Starbucks location, this one has a whole bunch of coffees that you won't find elsewhere. Most notably though, they have a few tasting flights so that you can compare their different coffees. Their reserve coffees do actually have some interesting notes, so I would definitely recommend drinking them without cream or sugar. Still, I wouldn't say that they're better than what you would get at a good artisanal coffee shop. They certainly don't have anything that's particularly adventurous. Service (0/1): They forgot my tasting flight when I went, so it took a long time for me to get it... after I went up to talk to them about it. It wasn't even a particularly busy night. I am a HUGE fan of Starbucks so it's a no brainer for me to check out this new Starbucks Reserve Bar. This place is huge with plenty of seating. I ordered a clover brewed coffee and mac and cheese. Coffee was good and mac and cheese was tasty. Well, you know you can't go wrong with Starbucks convection oven. Their food is crispy and moist all at the same time. I swear I can't get my food tasting that good at home. Service was excellent as well. As for the downside, mac and cheese was kinda pricey (over $8 for a small portion). This Starbucks Reserve is very busy. Lineup is very long. Because of the strong branding, many people come here for a coffee and take a look at this new Starbucks in downtown. Here they have many Reserve beverages. A staff stands right at the entrance to greet people. One at the lineup introduces drinks to customers. There are two counters. One makes regular Starbucks drinks for customers and the other makes Reserve drinks. Lineup is very long, so each customer has been waiting for a long time. It seems some of the staff here are new and not sure what they are doing. I have got a nitro cold blew float and a new Reserve hazelnut blanco latte. The nitro cold blew float is good. I ordered two items at the same time. One came out so late after the other. Many customers are still waiting for their orders. Many people sit and chat and some are doing homework or work here. Those who do homework and work here occupy the seats and tables that some people who really want to drink and eat here cannot find a table. Not good... Do I really want to come here for a coffee again? Probably not. I can find better coffee and customer service somewhere else or at other coffee shops. read more

Just left this beautiful happy Place that I almost always pop into when I work in the city ( twice a week) I love their specialty drinks and love the cups ! This is the place I don't mind paying a bit more for when you get to enjoy the drink ! Staff isn't always very wonderful oddly enough being a reserve store but In this case I'll let it pass because I'm really only there for the flavour of the season . This place was a bit of a God-send during my stay in Vancouver. For most of my time there, I had a huge writing project to work on that was due in a couple days. While i enjoyed Vancouver's coffee culture, many places were a bit too hoighty-toighty and I didn't feel like I could just get down to work for a few hours. As nice as this is, it's still a Starbucks, so I felt like i could do that. BUT this place is super nice. The furniture's awesome. There's plenty of natural light. When ordering food and drink for here, they serve it on a nice wooden tray, and it's very presentable. I'd say it's maybe the nicest coffee-shop presentation I received in Vancouver, and I went to a lot of coffee shops. And the coffee is, all in all, better than normal Starbucks if you order one of their reserve roasts like I did. You also get a cute card telling you about the coffee and where it comes from that's really nicely embossed with metal foil, and come in handy as bookmarks! 4 standard - 2 (few chargers, rarely cleaned very well, very busy a lot of the time) + 2 (great atmosphere, excellent coffee, beautiful presentation, love the coffee cards) = 4 stars. read more

Being located so close to a Starbucks Reserve is a blessing because this shop is so beautiful! The Reserve though is pretty crowded and the space is relatively limited if you're looking to stay and have a seat. Fortunately, since I'm close by I usually just take my drink to-go. My favourite drink is the nitro-cold brew with a scoop of vanilla ice cream - so delicious! The barista's here are always very nice and very informative, especially if I want to customize one of my reserve drinks. They also keep the line moving quickly since there are a lot of customers. Although there are a ton of other Starbucks nearby, the Reserve menu is an extra bonus for all those who work in the area. Overall, this is a well needed addition to the downtown core. Although we never needed to go to Seattle because we have a Reserve on Main, this just makes coffee shop meetings in the downtown area so much more fun. The shop is busy but at least the baristas keep the line moving quickly. For tables however, that's a different matter. read more

Arrived to a employee opening the door to welcome us in. This place definitely stands out from the typical Starbucks. There is an employee at the lineup whose job is to educate customers about drinks and options available and answer questions. This is great customer service, but not very efficient; the staff could only engage with 3-4 customers at once and had to repeat the concept to the next group. There are so many different brewing methods that it can be a little overwhelming especially since some require 10-15 min to make. There was a bit of a wait at the pick up table with around 4 staff crowding around the little area. I tried the Hazelnut Bianca Latte, which was very bitter at first sip. After a while, the latte tasted more velvety and had a subtle hazelnut aftertaste- quite delicious! Overall, this is a wonderful addition to Downtown Vancouver. However, I don't think I will come to this location if I am in a rush. read more

Ok, so it is spacious. Most people we saw weren't there for the coffee, but there to nap. Compared to the Reserves we have been around the world (check out the one in Phnom Penh, Cambodia) this one is a typical sh*tty Reserve. Nothing special or characteristic (check out the concept stores in Hong Kong, or unique stores in Ubud, Bali or Tukwila, Washington) about this one. We ordered a black sesame latte and it took much longer than other drinks that were ordered at the same time. No seats are available as they were used as napping pods. Overall, not too impressed. I want to start this by saying that I am a shift supervisor at a regular corporate location. With this in mind, I get the stress and being tired and all the work that comes with the job. However, while I get it, that does not excuse the way I was treated here. I ordered two beverages...one was made wrong and the other I did not even want. Making a mistake on my custom drink...I get it we are all humans, but the way the barista on till spoke to me I could not go back and ask for a remake. Im lucky my partner could because I told him I would rather have his drink (the one they messed up) than go have to order again. She conveniently did not have a name tag on so I cannot even mention who it was. However, I wanted a pour over of a reserve coffee. I had no idea what I wanted so below is a break down of the conversation: me- Hi! what are you guys brewing today? her- Pike and North me- oh ok! what reserve blends do you have for pour over? her- all of them. me- oh ok...which one do you recommend...sorry this is only my second time at a reserve. her- i don't know i don't even like coffee. me- oh ok ummm her- so are you getting a second drink or not? me- okay i'll just have the dark chocolate mocha her- well you already ordered that so what else? me- oh no sorry, the first drink is an iced peppermint mocha with chocolate cream cold foam and no whipped cream. The second is a hot dark chocolate mocha. Thank you. It is a really nice modern space but it does get very busy. I was here on a Sunday early afternoon and the place was packed with little seats remaining. Good location. Absolutely huge. The decor is modern and of course the wood accents gives it an uptown look. They just recently opened and the are crazy busy. Long waits for both mobile orders and in person. The app will always say 1-6 minutes but it's more like 20. The staff are friendly, doing their best to get the orders out. Suppose it will take some time to get the flow now that they are offering reserve item. For now, they are not serving alcoholic beverages but they will soon. This review comes down to one word: dogs. I could go on a Trumpist like speech about how dogs are great, I love dogs, some dogs are bad people, but this is really not the point. The fact of the matter is that dogs do not belong where you in a place that provides food or drink services, but more and more establishments are turning a blind eye to pet owners who bring their animals around. To a point I'm okay with this too. I get that people have stress dogs, and I've allowed people with stress animals into the establishment I work at, because they've had their papers. But they must compromise. They can't sit anywhere they want -- there are two tables that I allow people who bring their stress dogs to sit at, and generally this isn't a problem, despite that I have very severe dog allergies. I guess readers can figure out where I'm going with this. I am willing to compromise as a guest of another establishment -- even though I shouldn't have to, as I frequently see dog owners walking their dog into a business, sitting down and not showing any proof that their dog is a stress dog. If the owner has a medical reason for bringing the dog in, then I believe they should primarily sit at handicapped seating. Not holed up at the bar where there are tons of people. Yesterday, I walked into this Starbucks, and someone's large, long haired dog was taking up space in front of three empty bar spots. This was a situation where I just had to automatically turn around -- not only because I was afraid of having an asthma attack, but also because I was recovering from an allergy attack I had that same morning. I had been hoping to settle in somewhere where I could catch my breath and enjoy a nice warm coffee for awhile, but it couldn't be at this Starbucks, because here was a dog, however cute, the source of my problems. So, as someone who has an extremely stressful, chronic condition, I'm not afforded the luxury to cure or protect myself by having a cute dog nearby to cuddle. And, that's what it is. This is a luxury, allowed by a society in this city whose businesses encourage entitlement, because they're too afraid to say no. To someone with a health problem like mine, sitting down next to a dog is the equivalent to having a smoker blow smoke right into your nose, and again, I am still one hundred percent open to compromise, but as the matter stands, a dog should not be allowed to settle into a heavily trafficked area of the business. Even well after the dog is gone, its presence will still linger in the form of pet dander. So, I would simply ask -- even beg -- that Starbucks take a stance on this and ask pet owners not to seat their dogs in certain spots in the business. It's been my experience that people are usually willing to compromise when you at least give them options, but, if you simply allow them to sit everywhere without even raising the situation, then they will do just that. read more

Best Starbucks Reserve ever! Came in to get my fix and upon entering, asian brother master barista in the reserve area said wassup?!! I said yo! He proceeded to brew me a pot of Kenya Dark Roast for FREE, and I sat there at the counter and got crazy lit! He checked up on me frequently and even offered more brew. My man had my back. This has to be the saddest Starbucks Reserve out of all of their global locations. It's like Reserve "light"... The size is probably around the same size as a regular shop. It just appears more spacious because there's a lot less seating and tables. They don't have a dedicated bread and other baked goods section like other Reserves. The display case is all regular shop stuff. There's a few "Reserve" items on the drinks and food menu that's not on the regular menu. I ordered a Reserve dark mocha with soy milk. It tasted exactly like a regular mocha, just in a fancier plastic cup. I saw that the barista just "made" it via a pre-pack. Luckily I had a reward to use. I would've been pissed if I had to pay almost $7 for it. Don't bother making this a "must-see destination" if you're visiting. Treat it as another regular Starbucks. read more

The decoration is a little different from other Starbucks locations and fancy taps by their gender neutral washrooms. Aside from that, it's pretty much just another Starbucks with a few extra things on the menu with the same kind of staff that's generally friendly but unable to provide much useful information on product (2/4 I spoke to over 4 visits couldn't answer questions about either their reserve or nitro coffee), and inconsistent quality when in delivery of beverages. This isn't somewhere you go out of your way for. It's just another Starbucks to stop into for a quick-ish, mass-produced, average cup of coffee. read more

While this Starbucks is pretty to look at, we (my colleagues and I) opt for the Dunsmuir location where the drinks, pricing, and baristas are consistent. The drinks are inconsistent day to day. I once ordered an iced macchiato and they basically gave me a cup of milk with ice. I paid $5 for that. I bought three cold brews in two weeks and they charged me all over the place. Once $3.41, the others $4+. When I asked why that was they said it was because they only have "nitro cold brew". What? It tastes the same as the Starbucks anywhere else. If that's the case why the inconsistent pricing? I don't think the baristas are ill willed or trying to rip me off at all. I just think it comes down to inconsistent training. They are super nice but the lack of consistency gets me. Two weeks ago when I was there with a friend there were a swarm of fruit flies within the baked goods glass. Ick. I could see old ones flying about and new little ones. Good thing he didn't want a cookie or anything. There are more than enough Starbucks in Downtown Vancouver. I avoid this one. read more

I was obviously missing out on some secret inside knowledge because it was very unclear what the concept was supposed to be or whether the second bar with the real espresso machine and the chemexes was just for show. The menu board didn't really make it any clearer. But in the end I realized I could ask for a 'reserve' grande latte instead of a regular one. To cut a long review short, same coffee, different cup. If you want a decent coffee, go somewhere else. read more

So glad there's a SR closer to me now. The main street location is a bit out of the way but their Nitro float is so good. As with the other SR location, it's so hard to find a seat. I got my drinks and left. The line to order was fine but the wait for the drinks are a bit longer than other SR. I usually get my drink right after I order.
