This cafe is great. It is a good place for a nice breakfast (brunch, and lunch as well!) with some roommates, friends, and family. The dining area is a bit tight, so large parties (6+) will have a hard time finding room on a busy morning. The busiest i've seen the place was on early Saturday and Sunday morning, which is typical for families wanting to eat out at a local joint. Location: Quiet and easy to get to. Well, quiet as long as a plane isn't about to take off right outside of the restaurant. It is located right on Airport road, just pull onto the road, and drive down. You'll see the Starduster Cafe sign in about half a mile on your left. Restaurant: Like I've mentioned, it is a bit tight. But that just adds some charm to the cafe. There is no waiting area, so if it is a busy morning you can expect to wait outside so you are not in the way of customers who need to pay. Once you're sitting down, though, there is enough elbow room between you and your neighboring tables for the waitress to be comfortable standing in between the tables. The restrooms are clean, so you can be comfortable using the restrooms if you need to. The waitresses and pick up table are located in the same room overlooking the dining area so you can expect water and coffee to be topped off when you want it to be. Dining experience: Goodness where do I begin? The food at this cafe is spectacular. But first, let's start off with beverages. Their coffee is delicious and keeps coming throughout your visit. The water tastes clean and is cold. Their soft drinks are your standard soft drink fare and quality. The menu is extensive and is hard to choose from if you are hungry. They are very accommodating of diets and are open to substitutions. I have gotten the mountain man omelette, the corned beef hash, and the mushroom burger. Let's start off with the mountain man omelette. Very delicious and large omelette. If you are hungry the mountain man will be sure to please. However, I was not a fan of the large pieces of garlic in the omelette, so I asked them to mince it for me. The mean comes with country gravy, but I always ask for the gravy on the side. Just my preference. The corned beef hash was one of the best i've had. It did not feel like the canned stuff. It tasted fresh and you can actually get a good taste of the corned beef. It is cooked wonderfully, and goes well with some over easy eggs. The mushroom burger was your standard mushroom burger, so that means it was good. I'm a big mushroom fan, so I was happy to find that they did not skimp out on mushrooms. The toast that came with my breakfast plates was tasted well. I have gotten their hazelnut bread every time, and I have not been disappointed. Overall, a very good experience here every time that I visit. Every Staurday morning a group of 6 or 7 of us meet at the "Starduster" for breakfast. We have been doing it for over a year and have never had a bad meal. The food is outstanding and cooked perfect.. The staff are like family and sincerly care about the customer. On Sunday My wife and I go there for lunch. I've flown in and eaten here NUMEROUS TIMES. The food is always delicious. It redefines the term "The $100 hamburger". This place is usually packed, but has outdoor seating, which is a great touch. It's usually pretty clean, but sometimes it's so busy the waitresses don't have time to keep up. I've never seen a waitress standing around. They are super friendly and very helpful... My husband and I go here a lot or used to. The food is pretty good and they have a good selection. Every time we go we get the same rude waitress. She seems to work every weekend. She has no knowledge of what good customer service is. Always short, impatient and with an attitude. We went today hoping not to get her but did. I am 7 months pregnant and need my food more well done then this place likes to serve so when I was brought the almost completely uncooked hash browns I asked her politely if I could get them cooked a little more. She sighed, gave me a look and and snatched the food off the table. She then went over to the cook and very loudly said "don't worry next time she's in here we will just burn all her food". I can't believe she still works at this restaurant treating customers the way she does. To some up we will not be back to this restaurant and will refer all others not to go just because of her. read more

A couple of days ago we went to the Starduster Cafe for breakfast. It was a family get together and we were all looking forward to spending time together eating breakfast. We arrived at the restaurant and were seated. The waitress brought us coffee and waters. The menu looked good; but sadly we didn't get to try it. We were in close proximity to the kitchen and lucky for us, got to witness the cook throwing a tantrum in the kitchen. He told one of the waitresses to quit taking f---ing orders. He continued his tirade, throwing things and complaining excessively about his apparent work load. I get that he was maybe overwhelmed; but his childish display was ridiculous. He was cussing loudly and made everyone uncomfortable. Needless to say, when it was obvious the cook wasn't going to stop making a scene, we decided to go elsewhere. We paid for our coffee and left. Hopefully someone sits this guy down and explains that this kind of behavior is not acceptable. read more

I've only been here once (new to the area), but that one time was enough to add it to our regular rotation. I love a good diner, and this place doesn't disappoint. We were seated promptly (despite the place being packed), and service was quick as well. My wife saw and recommended (she knows me well) the biscuits and gravy, and I was thrilled. It's a simple dish, sure, but you may be surprised how lackluster biscuits and gravy can be at other establishments. Not here! The food was delicious. Big portions, and easy on the wallet. OK, so I really like this place on the surface -- good service, good food and of course you can't beat the view! Being almost right on the taxiway and being able to see planes coming in and out is such a great thing on a nice day! But I have one very large concern. So we came here for the first time today and as I said, really liked everything...until we needed to use the restroom and went back there. It is the messiest public back area in a restaurant I've ever seen, and I've worked in restaurants! A large bag of potatoes was sitting ON THE FLOOR probably 4 - 5 feet from the men's room. Food that's going to be served should NOT be stored on the floor -- EVER. That was enough to creep me out and make me think twice about coming back, and definitely about ordering the hash browns or potatoes of any kind, knowing where they were kept. Ick. Sorry to not give this place a better mark, but I really think they need to be more cautious about food storage because that's got to be some kind of health code violation, right? read more

Very dirty. One of the most filthy restaurants I've seen. Food poisoning is NO FUN! I have observed on several occasions improper food handling and risky storage of food handling equipment. I can no longer stomach eating here. Just walk to the restrooms and observe. If the areas patrons can view are filthy, what do they do in areas not viewable? Even if they start cleaning up the place, it will still be owned by the same people that felt the current status was acceptable for your safety. If they clean up patron viewable areas, its unlikely they would make safer decisions in areas patrons cannot see. Too bad, it could be a fun place being on the airport. If you plan on eating there and your own kitchen is clean, take a look around before you decide to dine. read more

Great place for breakfast. We try and go 2 or 3 times a month.

It's so small in the Cafe. Every morning that I try to head over for a breakfast date with my girlfriend, we never have a place to sit. And most of the time, it's too cold to sit outside. And it's awful with our allergies in the summer when it actually is warm enough to eat outside at their wooden tables. The other downside that really bothers me so much is the tables outside are gross. There's always gravy or left over food that sits on the table from the previous people that sat there, and I've found bird poop ALL over our table where we had to eat. I've had fruit flies in my food and there was one in my girlfriend's orange juice. If you like a lot of peppers and onions in your biscuits and gravy, then you're in luck. Everything has onions and even when I ask for no onions and peppers, it tastes like they're still in it. It's expensive, and being a small family business I understand that, but the quality isn't well. I want to like going here, but it's just not my favorite place. read more

I would honestly rate this place zero stars if I could. We were a group of 5 adults and 1 toddler eating (an infant as well) First off the waitress was incredibly scatterbrained, always forgetting things and just overall running around like a chicken with her head cut off. The worst part was it took over an hour for our food (basic wraps, 1 burger, 1 sandwich and 1 hot dog) and another waitress was completely rude about it. My dad asked for mustard and inquired if they had grey poupon. She snaps back "no just this" and slams the mustard on the table. It really seemed like she did not want us there. Not a good way to be with paying customers. Once we finally got our food, it came in stages. First, a burger and wrap. 5 mins later, another wrap. 10 mins after that the hot dog. Finally my mom just told them to put hers in a box because she had to get my sister back to her car to go to work. So 5 mins after that, hers comes in a box and my husband's sandwich came. By this time most everyone had ate. I didn't eat much though because it simply wasn't good. I had the ALD wrap. The A stands for avocado yet there was none. I'd rename it to the soggy lettuce drenched in honey mustard wrap, because that's all it was with a few pieces of dried, burnt bacon and a couple slices of deli turkey. My mom had the "shrimp" wrap but that was mainly a spinach wrap with 5 shrimp (the baby raw shrimp). My sister was in a hurry so she inhaled her tuna wrap although it had little flavor which she remedied with the Tabasco at the table. My toddler son's hot dog was a giant piece of meat with a completely split hoagie. I wouldn't call it a kids meal in any way. Then my husband's BBQ chicken sandwich was perhaps the worst. Flavorless, messy, giant chunks of uncooked garlic on a soggy, old ciabatta bun. None of this food even looked appealing. I really was just absolutely appalled by every aspect of my experience here and rest assured, it will not be repeated. The kicker was when we got the bill. $55. Absolutely ridiculous especially considering the poor quality. There was nothing redeeming sorry to say and I hope to caution other people from wasting their time and money here. As we were walking back to our car still surprised at how bad everything was, I noticed their stove grates laying out in the sun (almost tripping on them) I couldn't help but laugh because this place really is a complete joke. Visited today on a beautiful sunny day - so they were busy. When we arrived, we were told we were #2 in line for a table. While waiting, they seated quite a few tables in front of us. One waitress told us our table was being bussed, then another waitress seated yet another party at that table. We eventually just left for another restaurant - not worth the frustration. This restaurant has great potential but falls short in a couple key areas. My wife and 2 of our kids visited for breakfast on a Saturday morning and were quickly seated at a table. We ordered a #99: Loaded Hashbrowns (Bacon, Ham, Sausage, Mushrooms, Roasted Garlic & Special Blend) topped with Sour Cream. Served with 3 Special Blend Eggs & ONE choice of either a Full Biscuit & Gravy 3 French Toast OR 2 Pancakes) and our kids selected a waffle meal and a french toast meal from the Kids menu. As for the food: excellent. Our shared #99 meal was plenty of food for two, so a good value. The biscuits were fluffy and perfect. Our kids also enjoyed their meals. Where things went sideways a bit were due to the space itself and how the staff worked with it. The building is small - maybe 10 tables, all close together. As the morning progressed, more people arrived. Wait staff loudly stated to a group that "we almost have room for you but we're waiting on one more table to open up." We heard this several times. So we started feeling guilty, occupying a table and close to being done, feeling like we needed to rush. So advice to the staff: don't announce for the whole restaurant to hear that you're waiting for people to leave. It's not a "welcoming" approach to customer service. The other space-related issue: the restrooms are located in a cramped hallway between the eating-area and kitchen. It's impossible to wait there and not be in someone's way as the staff access to the kitchen and refrigerators is that same hallway. The restroom was dingy - they need some work before I could ever say they were clean. So while we liked the food, the service and space need some improvement before I'll give a higher rating. Given the great food and interesting airport environment, I really root for them to make those improvements to take this restaurant to the next level. read more

Decided to go out for breakfast/lunch today at a place I visit maybe 6-7 times a year. Usually noisy, often busy but the waitresses are caring, get the orders right and food is good, massive quantities and inexpensive. So, what was different today? Waitress 1 comes over, large apple juice, medium OJ. We get 2 medium drinks, charged $4.70 for the two. Didn't figure that out til the end though. The orders... links and hash-brown special with side of french toast, eggs over easy and wheat toast. 2nd order, Oregon scramble, a yummy mess of hash-browns O'Brien, a few cheeses, large roasted garlic bits and mushrooms with sausage bits, mixed together... eggs over easy with a half order biscuits and gravy. Like I said, a huge breakfast, less than $10.00 for the second order. First, I do not recall. OK, what arrived... the scramble arrived perfectly, but... the first order was just hash-browns, eggs, toast and sausage patty. Big patty but, when did we say patty? Said and repeated, with her repeating back LINKS... she didn't take notes ya see... maybe she should have. So she comes back with an empty plate and says it is for "that" pointing vaguely at the table and takes off again to help the table on the other side of the place. Seems she had screwed up his order, given him totally the wrong dish. Ooops! he wanted veges with/in his eggs/omelette, not forgotten/left on the grill. She "misunderstood" him. The place is not busy, 3 tables occupied in the whole place. 2 radios on conflicting stations though and talk... She returns with the links, and has to be reminded of the french toast. Again, apologies and off she rushes, returning a short while later with a plate of french toast. At that point, she noticed that I had taken the sausage patty and was going to eat it myself. Why waste it right? She asks me what I planned to do with it. Eat it I tell her, why waste it? Her eyebrows shot up, so high that she looked like she was in the throes of cheap plastic surgery. Any higher and she would have eyes on the top of her head. Apparently that was what the empty plate was for. She stalked off in a huff and I heard her report loudly to the cook, "he's going to eat it". What had they planned to do with it? Toss it? Wash it off and serve it to someone else? The bill arrives and we discover that they have charged us for a whole order of french toast, not a side (diff. around $4.00) and the extraordinary prices for the juices. I am in two minds on the tip... her attitude being that it was OK to screw up, OK to apologize but it was my fault and I should pay for it? I go up to pay the bill. I did not leave a tip on the table, was going to put it on the ticket. She snatches the card from me, slams it into the machine, rips it back out, I mean very hostile with a smile sort of thing. She slams the receipts on the counter top for me to sign, with a pointy glare, and I have to get my glasses out so that I can read them. The delay is met with a huffy glare. So much for the tip. I figured that the over-charging took care of that, as did her attitude. I did not argue on the over-charge, just figured that it was roughly what a tip would have been if all she had done was screw up the order. In a nutshell, food is usually good, plenty of it, service usually good, not today. I recommend bringing a notebook, writing down the order, just in case. And Cindy, ease off on the perfume... it does not go well with the food, and it is the food i want to smell, not you as you waft by. read more

However, most recent visit the waitress did not write down the order, left out a side completely, got the main order wrong and took long enough to correct it that one of us was finished before the missing parts arrived. Part of one meal was cold. We were charged full meal price for the side, and waitress got huffy because we ate the incorrect item ( which would have been thrown out - I hope!) while waiting for the corrected breakfast. She did not offer to remove the wrong item at all, and did not immediately put in the corrections in with the cook, She did not write down the order for the table next to us, and they also didn't get what they ordered. There were only three tables occupied so it wasn't that she was too busy. She also was irritable and verbally rude when the bill was paid. First and last visit for breakfast. Nice little cafe atmosphere, but the quality of the food is lacking. Everything is off the weekly delivery truck- no taste, no flavor to speak of (despite ordering the special garlic and onions added to the browns). We ordered a simple scrambled eggs w/browns toast and eggs over easy with prime rib hash, that came with Obrian mix potatoes w/toast. The hash was simply bits of beef cut into 1inch shavings mixed into potato cubes. The beef looked like it was prepackaged at some point (tasted as such too), definitely it had been around for awhile. Eggs cooked over-easy were tasteless. In a desperate attempt to salvage the meal- I got a side of gravy only to feel like I just added warm paste. I am unsure why such a nice little place can't make their own food and not just serve the same tasteless, manufactured food being delivered to every chain in the country.
