Got in at 11am on a Thursday. Service was excellent - our party of three felt very well-taken care of! Water and coffee was constantly topped off. Smiles and laughter were abundant. We got in before the crowd (which quickly filled in after we sat down) and our food came out really quickly. I had the French toast meal (Aunt Kathy's) and the French toast was perfect. I asked for eggs over medium, which some places don't get right, and these were great. My cousin got the hotcakes and they were bigger than his head! He also got a blackberry vanilla Italian soda which he said was delicious. My brother killed the biscuit and gravy with chicken fried steak. Hands down...The WORST biscuits and gravy I've ever tried. Gravy tasted like straight water and flour with a hint of sweetness. Why is the gravy sweet. And then they weren't stingy with it either. pouring it over everything making it inedible. I had breakfast at Mommy and Maddie's this morning alongside nine guys I've met with at a local church Bible study for 20 years. Sadly, one of our members is moving to Texas, and we needed a really great place to gather, share a meal, reminisce, and talk about the relocation plans of our dear friend. We needed a place that 'felt like home' and Mommy and Maddie's delivered beyond my expectations. The meal was wonderful, despite the varied requests of a group of 'finicky old guys' of that size, but it all made our time together so memorable...we will treasure our special breakfast for a long time. I was in a rush and Saturday morning was not the time to get something quick. I waited 15-20 minutes before making it to second in line when I got a call and had to leave. I would echo some comments on here. It is obviously busy and the place looks like it needs an update or freshening up. With the effects of the pandemic, I realize not every restaurant is in a position to spend thousands of dollars on a remodel. Amazing for the times! COVID hasn't affected this cute restaurant hardly at all. Plenty of distance from tables and comfortable seats. Service was impeccable. Half the omelet was huge, my guess is about 3 eggs. The breakfast burritos were huge too. It was also very good and came with avocado and sour cream. We visited here because we wanted breakfast and i thought this place was so cute. Don't let the parking lot discourage you, they are open. We walked in and was welcome right away and told us to seat ourselves. I ordered espresso over ice and a breakfast burrito with egg whites with mashed avocado, sour cream and their "hot" sauce which was not spicy at all and my boyfriend had the hot chocolate and Aunt Kathy's French toasts with over easy eggs and bacon. It's tugged away in a small town called Salem. On a quiet street, serene, cozy. There are plenty of parking spaces in the back, yet hungry patrons manage to fill it up rather quickly. Dining in is always a great option. If you don't feel comfortable eating inside, there is a small patch of grass land in the backyard. Brunch can go picnic style. Normally, I'm not one for writing reviews. I do frequent this restaurant and the portions are large. I can put down some food. So, I ordered the full size omelet. After I was done, I was pretty STUFFED. Staff is always upbeat and it includes the kitchen; even on their busy days. Every now and then, the cook will bring me my order. The ambiance is excellent and I always look forward towards my next visit. What a cute place. Obviously an old large home remodeled to be a restaurant and they did a great job. I actually grew up in a house similar to that one. That being said, the food was good and it came out exactly as I ordered it. I ate it so fast, I brain farted and forgot to take a picture. She had a vibe as if she hated her job and did not want to be there. Our waitress was the same. Except the waitress was straight up rude to us when we asked her a question and she answered it with sarcasm. It was uncalled for and no, it wasn't the sarcasm that comes with banter and joking. It was an excellent choice and perfect for a first meeting with a friend post-COVID. Service was great and the staff was very accommodating when the bistro seats proved problematic for me due to a disability. As is my go to at a mew breakfast location I went with the corned beef hash. It was very good with a nice balance of flavors. This place was exactly what we hoped it would be. Friendly service and delicious food. I had the waffle with a half order of biscuits and gravy. The waffle was golden on the outside and soft on the inside. Perfect. The gravy had all the homestyle flavor I had hoped for with the a tasty biscuit. My husband had the ham and cheese omelet with hashbrowns and an English muffin. The eggs were done and were fluffy with big pieces of ham and plenty of cheese. The best part of the meal was the service. Our server was kind, funny and made sure we had everything we needed through out the meal. Belgian waffles were heavy (not fluffy as they should be) served with a tiny amount of cold syrup. The waffles were also undercooked. Hash browns were not even warm, and not browned at all. Ordered the biscuit thinking it would be light and fluffy - when it was served it was dense and heavy ( and quite small) Food served on cold plates (hot would be great - at least warm would be better) Service was medium to slow (had to ask for things like more syrup and waited forever to fill coffee.) We were traveling south back to California and found this gem on yelp. I phoned ahead of time and asked if we could eat outside with our pup Jackson. No hesitation , "yes, we will set that up for you."
