Starflower is a floral shop that is also curated with a collection of blown glass, handmade ceramics, house plants, florist tools, merch, and miscellaneous gifts. They have a fresh flower stem bar to make an arrangement on site. They also do private events, such as weddings. I came in looking for flowers for a neighbor whose pet passed. The staff person working at the time did a great job, asking our budget and vision, and then creating a little white bouquet for the angel kitty. We got a vase for it to go in also. It was a lovely shop to browse while we waited for the bouquet to be made. I hope there are not more sympathy bouquets in my future but I wouldn't hesitate to visit Starflower for an arrangement for any reason again! read more

Update: Shop actually called me and helped me replace the flowers and they are very sweet and fast with their reply. As I said before not the shops fault for the delivery and would 100% recommend them and will come back here to purchase flowers. so I ordered two different bouquets with star flower and decided to try a new shop because their selection looks amazing and unique. so I went ahead and ordered for delivery and I'm assuming it was during delivery but on both bouquets there were damaged flowers some completely fell off and some of the flowers looked in bad shape. also water had spilled out and wet the box they were in. I've reached out hopefully at the very least they are paying attention to who's delivering because they aren't being careful. also for $250 and $150 I was hoping for a little better service. read more

This was my go-to florist for Portland, OR. I recently bought the below bouquet for $125 and, as you can see, the flowers were not in good condition. I assume because of heat and/or lack of water. Reached out via email and got no response. Called a few days later and was told that we should have cut the ends of flowers (that were delivered in vase with water and were secured in tape and netting) and that they would have "perked up". For problems with your orders, expect "tough luck". read more

I ordered a cool looking little cactus online to be delivered to a friend who lives in Portland. I live in Vegas. It seemed simple, the delivery instructions were just to be put in the comments section, so it wasn't too official on confirmation of date and time of delivery, which made me a little nervous. However, I like supporting the smaller shops, so I went ahead and booked it. When the day after it was supposed to be delivered came and I received no word from my friend, I called the shop to inquire. The girl who answered was very nice, but did not know, and could not tell if it was delivered or not. She told me she would look into it and call me back. When I didn't receive any word by the end of the next day, I called again and left a message on the whereabouts of the delivery. The next day the owner returned my call with full apologies, and did then confirm that it was delivered the night before (a day later than it was supposed to be delivered). So I get it, things happen. There may have been miscommunication on delivery, but they do have really great selection of unique bouquets and plants. So, I would suggest a different way of delivery confirmation for the future for her business to avoid problems like this for other clients. read more

Oh what I would give to work here! This place is an utter dream. You walk in and just exhale and then ponder what flower or plant must be yours immediately... but then there's more. Body oils, bath salts, beautiful jewelry in a hidden case. I selectively picked out what seemed to be the "one others over looked" Rose - the "toffee rose" which had this amazing tan color and perfect shape that almost made it look too perfect! And of course a brilliant pink to add a punch of color. This will make our hotel room look amazing for the next couple days and then we plan to dry the petals and do something creative for memories of our awesome trip to this beautiful city! read more

Cutest florist shop in Hawthorne! They have tons of healthy indoor plants, ceramics, candles and more. Gorgeous little shop space with a HUGE monstera in the window, you won't regret stopping in. I picked up a lovely stromanthe tricolor for about $21. They have some great looking cactus, begonias, marantha, ferns, syngoniums and more. Usually places like this are a bit overpriced, but the prices for the plants were reasonable to a regular nursery. Can't wait to come back and pick up some more plants and plant pots! read more

This plant selection is top of the charts. It is super spendy (like large plant can set you back a couple hundred) but what do you expect? They grew the plant for you and it activates a house with zero effort. If you're stuck in covid hell, I highly recommend masking up and dragging your zombie self over there before you lose your mind. House plants are self care and rewarding, so long as you have at least one window. They are very nice. The main challenge I found is the prices are often on microscopic tags which forces you to speak to the human, and they are pretty busy. Definitely recommend dropping a few hundred and treating yourself to a smoothie after. read more

Stopped by this place to get new plants for my existing pots. I have no idea what to do when it comes to this stuff so I just walked in with my pots after dumping my old plants out, and said I need 3 plants that are low maintenance and they helped me pick out the 3 awesome plants (and got a 4th too) and they planted them and set them all up, placed them snug in a box so I could just go home and place them where I wanted. I called this place to deliver an arrangment to my mom due to the yelp reviews for this place. When I called, the person who helped me was friendly, energetic and helpful and had it sent out for delivery that same afternoon. My mom received them and loved the beautiful arrangement and was a wonderful birthday bouquet. Two days later, the flowers were very droopy and either was in the process of dying or already dead and my mom called sounding pretty sad about it. I called to let them know since we thought it was so odd and we then sent pictures. Well, the lady who was helping us was so extremely friendly, warm, and helpful, they promptly offered to resend another equally beautiful arrangement to my mom. 5 stars because the customer service was amazing and professional and 5 stars for beautiful arrangements! I found this florist based solely on their zip code as they are closest found near my daughter-in-law, who had a birthday. I simply gave a price range and said"you figure it out!". These flowers are amazing! I ordered for my friend and she literally said "You found the best florist in Portland! The delivery guy was a champion and got them through my building and right to my door!" The arrangements are so beautiful and original. I'm a plant fanatic, so I was delighted to check out a new plant store in Portland. I'd heard good things from one of my friends who also lives here, and I wanted to get a new ZZ plant. When I walked in, I was hit by refreshing air conditioning, and room full of happy, lush plants. They have a great selection of house plants, cacti, succulents, and specialty florals. Also, I brought my own pot for the ZZ that I purchased from them and they potted it for me free of charge. The plants are reasonably priced, especially compared to boutique plant stores such as Pistils. Overall, I'm giving Starflower two enthusiastic thumbs up. read more

I adore this company - they recently did floral for my engagement party. The refined arrangement style and attention to detail was spectacular. They arranged floral crowns which fit perfectly and brought the whole party together. The flower choices, balance and composition of the arrangements was beautiful!!! This place is really cute, and I'm glad they opened up a plant & flower shop like this on Hawthorne but in all honesty, the staff is rude and everything is extremely overpriced. Three stars for the the product they have and the set up being so ascetically pleasing, but there needs to be more to a business other than it just being "cute". I've been here twice. The lady who helped me the first time was intuitive, creative, and fast, and I came away with a beautiful bouquet. This time was the opposite. I'm not going to go into great detail about what went wrong because I came in on a Sunday afternoon and I'm guessing the guy must have been filling in. What the Starflower team created absolutely blew me away!
