Everyone was loud and singing along to all the beats. We decided to go to the coat check which is located on the rooftop floor and I felt like I time warped back to the 80's. It was definitely a lounge type feel no music you can really dance too. The drinks were about 12 dollars either the drink was made pretty good or it was weak because all I tasted was juice. We decided to go downstairs to the basement and walked a million stairs down to a more intimate lounge like vibe where there were lots of couples. After we decided we were leaving, we had to walk up another million stairs to go get our coats. It is definitely not my type of place I don't think I will be going back here again.

I love the lead signer Martin, who is not only a talented singer but also photographer. He is also a strong believer in the necessity of these types of venues, that help exposed the youth and everyone else to unique and fun musical experience. The show cost me $10 and it was packed in the venue but not as packed as I expected. I will be keeping my ear to the ground for any more upcoming shows. Keep up the good work C-Squat! The atmosphere was post-punk, and there were some very hot bands playing. It reminded me a little of the late great Gusto House on 4th street (before you were born, kiddies) in that walls and ceilings had been knocked out in the performance space to make it a bi-level showplace. As soon as we sat down the waiter asked if we were ready we were. I got the wedge salad and my friend got the cob salad. They both came out very quick. I wish though that they could turn the lights on while we eat because it did not really sit right with me that I could not see what I was eating. From the lack of light it looked like the lettuce was turkey or like old lettuce. There was bacon on top too. I asked for no bleu cheese and dressing on the side. 19.00 for a wedge is wild but it was big so I guess it makes up for it, also I mean it is NYC! I've had this twice, the first time with a fried egg and the second time as is. Both were cooked to a perfect medium. This burger hits EVERY TIME! It's definitely made fresh and not from a frozen Patty. I'm going to have to ask what the meat and ratio is because it's just the right amount of fatty and has a good mouth feel. I came here for an event. The event was 7-10:30 pm and DOM usually opens at 10 pm. To find this place, it is at the address 287 Park Ave but once you walk through the glass doors you are directed towards some curtains. To be honest, if there wasn't a line of people outside I wouldn't have known to find DOM. But I guess that's what makes it a speakeasy right? The bouncer was making everyone wait outside until the coat check line died down.For whatever reason they made everyone do mandatory coat check. Once you finish that, you make your way down the stairs. The space itself isn't that big but it's cute. Red lighting and a disco ball! The DJ was pretty good. There is a small room with some art if you want to find a spot with brighter lighting and to escape the main area. There is one main bar in the back. I'm not sure if that DJ was hired exclusively for the event or if he's a regular there. My only complaint would be that the floor level is not exactly level/even. There are some parts where it's 1 inch higher or there's a carpet somewhere. So pay attention to where you are walking - especially by the couches.

I was in a corner not bothering anyone trying to take up as little space as possible, and the bouncer person, I think their name was dijoun, walked by and told me to get up. I politely said "oh Im disabled," to which they replied very snarkily "you werent disabled when you came in." Already I was really upset, because how dare you accuse me of lying about the thing that is ruining my life on the one lucky night my chronic pain was light enough to go out and try to enjoy myself. My friend said oh yea she has blood pressure issues (not exactly correct but he was trying) and they walked off. Later inside, they came up to me and told me to get up out of my chair bc someone had hung their bag on the back and I hadnt noticed. They brought me another chair which was nice but I was trying to order a drink and she put it pretty far away from the bar. Anyways, I calmly said "hey you cant say that to people" and they instantly got really defensive and said "well you didnt tell me when you walked in." Like I didnt know I needed permission to sit on the floor? I didnt know I need to tell every employee everywhere I go that Im disabled to keep them from accusing me of lying? Also, the first thing I said was im disabled and we already discussed how they responded to that. I dont remember exactly how I responded, only that I was trying to stifle my anger to not cause a scene, but they then told me "yeah im disabled too I was in 9/11" like sorry I guess but if you are disabled maybe dont be so ableist? If someone told ME they were disabled I would believe them not accuse them of lying, and being disabled isnt an excuse to gatekeep who gets to accomodate their disability and who doesnt. Then when I was leaving I said something like that wasnt cool man and they followed me down the block yelling. I yelled back at this point but still, for an employee of a bar I frequent pretty often to do something like this makes me really uncomfortable. So yeah, I wouldn't go here if you are disabled, at least not when this person is working there, because if simply sitting down so I dont pass out caused this reaction, who knows what reaction other disabled people will get.
