When my mother-in-law passed away last September, our family made the decision to bring my…read more90-year-old father-in-law, Tom, from the East Coast to live with us in California. We knew it was the right decision, but we also knew it would be a huge life transition--for Tom and for our entire family. One of the very first calls I made after returning home was to Home Instead. From the moment I met with our Care Manager, Luvuonna, I felt something I had been desperately hoping for: peace. Luvuonna welcomed us with such compassion, patience, and grace. She took the time to understand Tom, our family, and the challenges we were facing, and she walked alongside us as we navigated this completely new chapter. I remember leaving that first meeting thinking, "We're going to be okay." Then she introduced us to Kathy. There are people who simply do a job, and then there are people who answer a calling. Kathy is one of those rare people. From day one, she has cared for Tom with genuine love, kindness, dignity, and respect. She doesn't just help with his daily needs or drive him to doctor's appointments--she brings joy to his days. She treats him like family, and over the past year, she has truly become part of ours. Knowing Kathy is with Tom while we're at work gives us something that is priceless: complete peace of mind. We know he is safe. We know he is cared for. We know he is loved. It's hard to put into words what that means to a family caring for an aging parent. Caregiving can be emotionally overwhelming, and inviting someone into your home requires tremendous trust. Kathy has exceeded every expectation we could have imagined. She is dependable, compassionate, honest, and has one of the kindest hearts I've ever known. Although this review is long overdue, my gratitude certainly isn't. As we approach nearly a year of working together, I wanted to take the time to recognize the incredible impact Kathy and the entire Home Instead team have had on our family. To anyone searching for care for a loved one: I know how difficult and emotional that decision is. If you're fortunate enough to work with Home Instead, and especially with Luvuonna the case manager , know that your loved one will be in extraordinary hands. Thank you, Home Instead, for helping our family through one of life's most difficult transitions. Thank you, Luvuonna, for guiding us with such compassion and wisdom from the very beginning. And thank you, Kathy, for loving Tom so well. You have been a blessing to him, to all of us, and we truly believe God brought you into our lives at exactly the right time. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making this season of life not only manageable, but filled with dignity, compassion, and hope. We are forever grateful. With heartfelt gratitude, The Amlicke Family

A majority of the time the feedback that is given is praise but occasionally there will be an area that could be improved. This is where Matt excels and provides amazing hospitality. He is open to feedback and prompt about finding a solution. Ken is also awesome, he is extremely involved in the Morgan Hill community. Especially when it comes to supporting our elders and finding ways to keep them engaged. It is impressive how much Matt and Ken give back to our seniors in the community. This is a company that I support and would trust in caring for my loved one.

We had an outstanding experience with Family Matters, and I wanted to share this review because…read morethis is what exemplary care should look like. My 75-year-old mother underwent necessary brain surgery three weeks ago. Three days before surgery, she had a ground-level fall, tore her rotator cuff, and sustained a small fracture. Because the surgery could not be deferred, she proceeded as planned but required significant care at home afterward. She had been fully independent, and although she lives with my father, the caregiving needs were beyond his comfort level. I was able to help for a few days after her discharge, but it was clear they would need additional support for her to remain safely at home. The hospital nurses were wonderful, but my mom needed assistance even with basic tasks like repositioning in bed and using the restroom, as her left arm was immobilized. Our hospital care coordinator connected us with Amy, the client care manager for Family Matters, who met us at home right away. She performed a thorough evaluation and took the time to understand my parents' needs and preferences. Almost immediately, we were connected with KJ, the Director of Operations, who coordinated the caregiving schedule. She ensured an excellent match with caregivers and that coverage was consistent and reliable. Communication was seamless--KJ was always responsive and proactive with updates, and we never felt out of touch. My mom especially wanted to recognize her primary daytime caregiver, Maria. Maria was attentive, warm, and incredibly experienced, with over 20 years in caregiving. She is also an excellent cook and was especially skilled in helping my mom with more vulnerable tasks like showering. The other caregivers who supported nights and weekends were also wonderful. The team clearly put thought and care into matching personalities and backgrounds, which made a meaningful difference. Over the following weeks, my mom gradually regained her independence, and we were able to scale back care smoothly. The team made adjustments easy and seamless. We would absolutely use Family Matters again. This was our first experience with a caregiving service, and we were initially apprehensive, but they made the entire process easy, supportive, and reassuring. We would use them again in a heartbeat.

Even more challenging is finding caregivers you can truly trust during such a vulnerable stage of life. A very special thank you to Family Matters, and my father's caregiver, Sade. He is under hospice care with advanced dementia, and can barely speak. Sade is consistently patient, and kind, and gives me complete peace of mind whenever she's caring for him. Most importantly, she engages with him and makes him feel seen. This is in sharp contrast to other caregivers we've experienced who are often on their phones and treat him as if he's invisible. I'm also especially grateful for KJ who manages the caregivers and scheduling. While other agencies haven't taken the time to meet my father or me in person, KJ made it a priority to get hands-on training to fully understand my father's caregiving needs. Because of this, she's been able to step in to provide training and support which is a huge godsend given my limited bandwidth. She even proactively revised the caregiving shift note template to make it clearer and more helpful for our caregiving team. Family Matters has truly exceeded our expectations because they understand the real meaning of caregiving. On top of that, their participation in the Veterans Assistance Program, which requires stricter qualifications provides an added layer of confidence and experience.

Dorie worked closely with me to find the right home care aide who "clicked" with my dad. My parents recently move up to this area so in addition to dealing with losing some of his independence, he has constant shoulder and hip pain, a history of falls, and some degree of dementia. He knows when he is having difficulty finding the words to express himself, but he is no fool. Scott is my dad's home care aide and has been working with him since July 2015. Scott and my dad are really a good team. He treats my dad with respect, interacts well with my dad, does all the balance and leg strengthening exercises that I have set up and has even incorporated additional exercises to help my dad's arm pain and weakness. Both my parents feel that Scott consistently provides good care and challenges my dad to be more active than he may feel that he wants to be. I feel that with Scott my dad is always safe and that Scott has my dad's best interests at heart. Our family is very happy with the care that my dad is receiving. I would highly recommend working with Dorie and her team at Visiting Angels in Gilroy if you are needing some home care assistance. Thank you Dorie, Scott and the rest of the Visiting Angels staff!

The overall experience was very smooth--from meeting the care coordinator Natalie and signing the forms to making final arrangements by text. Everyone here was warm and helpful. A special shoutout to my caregiver, Candy, who was lively and fun. After I got home, I slept for a couple of hours, and when I woke up we chatted--the conversation helped me stay alert and shake off the grogginess from the anesthesia. Being Chinese, Candy understood my needs at home, and that cultural awareness was especially comforting while recovering on my own. Hopefully I won't need surgery again--but if I do, I'll be calling California Seniors Care!

She made me feel that my dad was in good hands even before the ride began. Natalie Nelson was the wonderful person who picked up my dad from the hospital. She arrived earlier than our scheduled time and even texted me, saying, "Take your time." That meant so much to me because I knew she understood how stressful a hospital discharge can be. The hospital process was extremely slow, and Natalie ended up waiting for more than 45 minutes. But she never complained or showed any frustration. She continued to be so warm, patient, cheerful, and compassionate. What touched my heart the most was what my dad said afterward. He told me, "This lady is so nice! How do you know her? Is she your friend?" That says everything. Natalie treated my dad not like a new client, but like an old friend she had known for years. Her kindness was genuine, and I could feel that she truly cared about my dad--not just as a passenger, but as a person. During a difficult and stressful day, her compassion brought us so much comfort. I will never forget how she treated my dad with such dignity, patience, and kindness. It truly touched my heart. Thank you so much, Danielle and Natalie, for making a difficult day a little easier for our family. I wholeheartedly recommend this service to anyone who needs medical transportation. You will be in caring and compassionate hands.
