I can't speak for Friday, but Saturday was kind of a miss for music. DJ Asap was on the 1's and 2's--he usually comes correct but he lost me that night. None of the music was memorable... nothing had me smiling from ear to ear after hearing the beat drop while saying "oh my goddddd this is my song!" At the end of the day, It was still hip hop though (shrugs). Music - 3/5 No complaints here! It was grown and sexy vibes. I'd guess ages 25-35; no child's play. Everyone was dressed to the 9's in their winter wardrobe and I appreciated it. For a minute, I thought I was at a NYC club--which made the guys' $20 entry fee a little more accepted by some of the men in our group. Ambiance - 5/5 We had some table issues with the owner Tedd. Or maybe his name was Ped. Or Todd. Shoot, who knows. Anyways, he tried to fix the problem but wasn't very accommodating for the hassles we had to endure. It left a bad taste in my mouth. Service - 3/5 It's a beautiful spot. They spent some money on putting this place together. If you don't have a table, it would be pretty hard to have a good time in my opinion--not much dance floor space. The owner told me they only had about 6 tables--that's not true. They have about 12! Some are in more desirable sections than others, but this place is tables galore! Decor - 4/5 The perfect rating for Stars and Spirits is a 3.5. The issues we had with the owner and the music were enough to have me question my return to S&S. But if I do and they've improved, I'll be sure to update this bad boy! read more

This venue has been around for a while, but now its finally got the touches to make it a great nightclub. The indoor light globes on the dance floor add a new style Dallas hasn't seen before. The staff is friendly, the area in deep Ellum is really building so this is another great addition to the area. Don't forget to ask about the special custom cocktail menu which includes drinks named after dead rockstars songs (hint the Stars and Spirits name). read more

I don't understand why more people don't come here. This place is so underrated for a club in Deep Ellum. The music is great and the club is spacious enough to dance or just stand around. It has two bars, a patio, hookahs are available, and plenty of seating if you wanted a table. On Friday nights there's no cover so my friends and I prefer to go that night. Saturday nights I know there's a $20 cover and it does seem to get more packed. The lighting is very cool with these LED globes that change colors and float up and down. Would recommend to someone who has nothing to do on a Friday night. Just come out and give it a try! read more

They let a girl behind me wearing Jordan's in but not my group who had already paid for a section. The no heels thing is an excuse to discriminate, they enforce when they feel like it. They said the girl worked there, but I heard their whole conversation and they didn't even know their employee's name (what a joke). I wish I had seen the reviews prior to going here. I, too, was turned away for wearing flats. The bouncers were nice, the women at the front collecting money were pleasant. However, the manager made a point to pull me to the front after I had already entered the club to tell me I couldn't be there because I wasn't wearing heels! I was appalled. That is flat out sexist. Is it not 2019? What part of me not wearing heels makes me an unacceptable customer and it was 1:30am, literally 30 mins before closing. The rest of my outfit was nice a lace bodysuit and black skirt. I will never go to that spot again. There was nothing so amazing about that place that I couldn't get somewhere else. So.. I just recently moved to Dallas and was super excited to come because I had heard a lot about it. Went on a Saturday night with a few of my girl friends.. one of which who chooses a more masculine line of dress on a regular basis. (I've never seen her in heels or even sandals in the time that I've known her.) The bouncer literally refused to let her in because she didn't have on heels. We tried to explain her situation, but they weren't open to listening at all and we felt that their attitude towards the whole thing was extremely sexist. On 1/19/2019 my friends and I decided to get a section to celebrate 2 birthdays at this location. Upon arriving (10:15pm) the door men had stopped two of my friends and I because 2 of us were wearing light hoodies with pea coats over them. The door man insist that he can't let us in unless we take the hoodies off OR pay $30 each. (Mind you the weather is 33 degrees out) I was emphasizing that we have a SECTION and shouldn't have to pay any more than we already planned on with bottle service. (Which we all know isn't cheap) It's cold and windy outside. What was I supposed to wear here? I hear the doorman say "y'all can go to bottle blonde it's right up the street" to one of my friends while I'm talking to the other friend. Pretty professional right? 3 mins go by, and he door man let two Females with bigger jackets WITH HOODS on in front of us. At this point I'm frustrated. We are at a SNS for a birthday with a section and are stuck outside in the cold with a lot of people on the way. So I'm willing to pay the $30. BUT when the doorman walked us the front desk he says.. " Charge them 30 for...... charge them 30" He didn't even say the reason so I knew it was crap. Time goes by and we buy 5 bottles and are having a good time. Then I realize ALOT of the men were wearing hoodies. Even 1 person IN MY SECTION had on a hoodie and I asked him did he pay extra. He laughed and said No. The money wasn't the issue, the fact that he was taking advantage of us at the establishment WE chose to celebrate at was the issue. Upon leaving I see this doorman again and I ask him "why he didn't charge everybody else?" HE LOOKED AT ME, SMILED and walked away. We will never come back to SNS for this reason. Once again this not about the money. This is about being taken advantage of when we were here to support a business. We will never go back. DO NOT GO HERE! A place for US, that's not really for US! They require women to wear heels which I think is crazy. I was visiting with friends and literally just decided to go out last min and wanted to be comfortable. Stood in line to only get at the front where a man pointed down at my feet and said NO! And NO as he pointed to my husband who had on shorts. I'm not against the dress code, more so of how the man addressed it! So NASTY & so RUDE! This place steals credit cards and makes it extremely difficult to retrieve them. The manager is wildly condescending, rude, and insulting. Additionally, one of the managers told me that they like to keep forgotten credit cards on their person in case they need them, so you're unable to retrieve your card even if you show up there in person as they are not even kept at the club. Overall, this place is operated in an unsavory, concerning, and illegal manner and should be investigated by the authorities. read more

Love the location and decor inside of the venue! I love how it pays homage to many of the late Icons of our time (Prince, MJ, Selena, etc)! The DJs were playing great hip-hop music all night long and all the bartenders were slinging out drinks quickly. Always packed (a good thing) but the AA bar tender with the beard in the... I don't know. Long story short, left my card there one Saturday night came back the next weekend (because that's when they're open) to find my ID and CC wasn't with any of the other "50 credit cards left behind" but eventually found out both were on his person. For my 21st birthday, my friends and I came here to dance. I was wearing heels, but a couple of my girlfriends had on flats or cute sneakers because they wanted to dance comfortably. They were still wearing appropriate attire (jumpsuits, dresses, etc.) The people at the door were extremely rude and refused to let the girls without heels enter, as if this is the 15th century??? I asked for the manager and for someone to show me on any social media or their website where it says you have to wear heels. Of course there was nothing like that written anywhere. Tons of other girls waiting for their Ubers said they were leaving because of the same issue. Right across the street is the Lizard Lounge, which was much more enjoyable!! This is regarding one of your "security guards" at SNS on Saturday night/Sunday morning 11/23/2019-11/24/2019. Seeing how this was my first experience in your facility, i had the worst experience. As my boyfriend & I were standing by the bar, a guy who i believe has a name of John or Tron, approached us & wanted us to clear the way. I specifically asked the guy where he wanted us to stand. He responded in a not so friendly manner. At this point, the bottle girls were coming through so there was NO WAY that we could move. After they moved, i moved over to the other side of the bar where he originally wanted us to move. Even though i didn't make a scene, he came back with someone who asked us to leave. Not only was this embarrassing but this was a bad reflection of stars & spirts. I came out to have a good time & not only that, i spent money in your facility. As a person who wants to keep business running though SNS, this was not handled in the correct manner. Even before this was done, one of the other guys told us we were okay. If this was the case, why were we escorted out ?! I really hope this is not how you all run business. I would appreciate if this situation was addressed. read more

Do NOT waist your time going here. I paid $40 to go to an after party featuring G Eazy and they would not let us in because they didn't have a scanner for our barcodes. After arguing with them for a bit they finally let us in. The drinks are overpriced and taste horrible. They had trouble with the sound system and never figured it out. G Eazy performed half of a song because the microphone wouldn't work and then left. It is way too small for an after party and not worth the amount of money that was spent there. Then finally we were able to get in they wouldnt scan our phone because we didn't have an email? But mind you, had the ticket in our iPhone wallets. On Saturday there cover charge of 20, if you use your card they going charge you extra 3 dollar because they don't want pay the credit card fee. I bought a bottle in the club. They ask for a ID, I only had my passport. I gave that and my credit card, so I got the bottle and my credit card, but they lost my passport. Which I didn't get it until 30mins after club close because they couldn't find it. Shortly after while I was asking an security guard about have he send my female(cousin) come out side and he said no and we just have regular conversation. Then out no where another security guard push me out side telling me get out the way. Other security seen it, then tells me I have to pay again to get inside. Then tired tell the staff members what happen, they wouldn't believe and start cussing,telling me I'm lying and being disrespectful. Unfortunately a horrible experience that whole night. This place is amazing! Didn't quite understand the name until I noticed all of the pictures of "Stars" such as Jimmy Hendricks, Tupac, Johnny Cash, Prince, and more on the wall. All music artists that passed away, hence "Spirits". The lightning is something I've never seen before in Dallas. Reminds me more of a Vegas nightclub. I was also shocked they had an actual dance floor, something not typical in all these new lounges, bars, and nightclubs popping up in the area. It's definitely worth checking out! read more
