Such a cool place! We reserved a table in the back room and the vibe was awesome. There's no menu so you just tell the bartender what you enjoy. I had a delicious cherry focused cocktail and then one that had an almond flavor. Prices were also very reasonable for the experience! Definitely recommend reserving ahead of time in order to sit back there - there were only ~3 tables.

Hey man, y'all need to "stomp clap" your way down to this bar in this beautiful historic homes. It's got everything from bartenders with whimsical facial hair and tattoos to specially named handcrafted artisanal drinks. The bar itself is beautiful, busy and it's dark in there so if you're an old man like me, you gotta turn on your camera light on your phone to read the menu. But once you do, you're greeted with some interesting choices. I had the shrimp dish that was basically shrimp and what tasted like a peppercorn sauce in a puff pastry bowl. The one thing I will absolutely say is that the service was amazing from the second you step foot on the property. Everyone was super attentive in service came fast. Will come back.

Love Bowen House!! I've been several times throughout my time living in Dallas and I just love the selection of food and drink they have here. One of my fave cocktails I've tried is the Spaghetti Cowboy, which is a whiskey based drink, but it's only available in the fall. In general however, they do have other great drinks that can range from fruity, strong, light and/or sour depending on your preference. The last time I went, it was during happy hour (4-6 pm, weekdays), when HH drinks are $9 each. I ordered the mushroom toast and my fave food option which is the Cacio e Pepe. They use flat long pasta in their Cacio e Pepe that is so delicious, flavorful, and hearty and top the dish off with a generous amount of Parmesan cheese. I also appreciate how late their kitchen is open in the evenings (10-11 pm) so you can stop by for a late night bite.

Bowen House is so vibey! Dare I go out on a limb here and call it Dallas' version of NY's Polo Bar? Def trending in that direction. I dropped in Friday evening, unfortunately missing HH but a full price burger and drink isn't gonna to put me out. I was able to snag a table near the bar within a few minutes. I started with their Spacecaster, whiskey based cocktail with a kick. Superb! I wasn't feeling great when I arrived and this fixed me up in no time. I knew I had to try the burger, then spotted the chips topped with crème fraîche and caviar (had my name written alllll over them). I couldn't finish all of the chips and prior to ordering I needed clarification on if chips meant fries, but we are in Dallas folks - chips literally mean chips! Potato chips! I ended up just eating the caviar off of the last few. This wound gave been the perfect order to go halfsies on, I couldn't finish the burger either but I was on a solo date and needed to bounce to get to a show nearby. I absolutely loved Bowen House. Can't wait to return, great crowd! When you're solo you inadvertently hear others convos which helped me determine this is def my type of crowd ;) Gentlemen hosts seating guests were also very nice. Great service all around from everyone. A Dallas must.

Classic Dallas bar in a historical house. We called to make reservations (currently there is no way to do it online) which is a very good thing since there's a lot of people waiting and there is limited seating indoors and outdoors. We arrived for happy hour to take good advantage of the $9 cocktails which were pretty solid for the price. We got Golden Ghost and Rolls Royce for first round (I liked the smoky profile of Golden Ghost more), and we got Jungle Bird (tropical) and Coffee & Coke (more chocolate / cafe forward) for the second round. The cocktails are quite strong too, so 2 of them was enough for me. They're mostly martini style, so they're mostly spirit forward. Regular menu drinks sound interesting but a lot pricier ($18-20+) so that can be another time. I only took a star off because service was very slow after happy hour ended. I understand a wait during happy hour as the bartenders and servers are slammed with orders, but it did not make sense to struggle to flag any server for 20 min when we were well taken care of during happy hour

Bowen House in Uptown (Dallas) is a staple for us. It's just one of the best cocktail bars around. The beautiful space, exceptional service and high quality everything sets them apart. We visited during the holidays for some cocktails, snacks and holiday cheer. Their decorations were beautiful and made for a warm and festive night. I'm always taken by their service levels. The managers set the tone decked out in suits. It's a small nuance, but I appreciate it since it's so rare these days. The elevated experience doesn't take away from how friendly and welcoming everyone is. It's why we always keep it in our rotation. My cocktails were fantastic. I had an off menu old fashioned variation which was delicious. It had bourbon, banana liqueur and allspice to give it some holiday flair (photo 2). Red Room is a sour recipe (with egg white) using vodka as the base spirit (photo 6). It's complemented with Ramazzotti Rosato (Italian aperitif), vanilla liqueur, lime and honey. The egg white gave it a nice airy texture. It had a good balance of fruit and richness. The BH burger is the best in town. It hit the spot and you should run to go try it. They've stepped up their food game exponentially over the last few years. Bowen House is the best we have in Dallas so go check them out soon. Out of all the bars we visited in Dallas, this is my favorite. The bar has a beautiful, historic vibe that feels both elegant and inviting. Great place to come whether you are on a date or hanging out with friends. The green tea shot is an absolute must order. I am not usually a whiskey fan, but this was incredibly smooth and easy to drink, with the right balance of sweetness. As for bar bites, their chicken tenders were surprisingly good - not something you would expect to stand out at a cocktail bar - but they were crispy, flavorful, and perfect with a drink. They can get busy, so be sure to call ahead and make a reservation especially if you are going in a group.

First things first, let's address the parking. If you see an empty spot near the restaurant, grab it, as parking is limited in this area. If you have a large party, call and make a reservation. The space is small and cozy and it fills up quickly due to the restaurants popularity. One of my favorite perks is that Bowen House offers happy hour seven days a week from 4-6. The happy hour consists of red, white, and sparkling wine, several cocktails, as well as food items. I highly recommend the cheeseburger with a side of fries. Great service, delicious food and solid drinks. I'll definitely be back!

Excellent one of a kind experience in the private back room. Loved the customized drinks off the menu.

After dinner we stopped by for a night cap. The atmosphere was lively and crowded. I couldn't figure out what I wanted so our server curated something for me from my flavor profile, and it was delicious. Next time I'll try the food.

Had dinner and cocktails in the back room and had a wonderful time. There is no drink menu and the bartender makes drinks for you based on your favorite flavors and liquor of choice. Food was amazing - can't go wrong with the Cacio E Pepe, have never had a better one! The blueberry cheesecake was to die for and the real star of the show, need to go back just for that!

Service was great and food was amazing. One of the best steaks I've had in Dallas great crust to it. Branzino tasted solid but could have more veggies with it. Caesar salad tasted very fresh and bright. The escargot with bread was a delicious bite. The place was very dark and intimate inside.

    Tina H.

I'm so sad it took me so long to go to this Dallas staple! The vibes were amazing, the service was great and the cocktails were delicious! Highly recommend book the speakeasy at the back. I would tell the bartender there what I was craving or what I like, and they would make some of the best creative drinks ever! Warning, it is a small space so I highly recommend making reservations! Great date night spot!

We came in near closing time, but Emilia provided us great service and stayed attentive even though they were clearly packed. We were seated at a table near the door, and unfortunately it had a vomit smell. Whatever it was, my friend could not stand it and had to get up and step away from the table. We first thought the culprit was the paper drink coasters, but then the staff removed the door mat near us later on, so maybe someone puked on it and the smell lingered, even after it was cleaned up. Clear Mizu ($16): This has Sakura vermouth and bitters, so we ordered it. It tasted like straight up gin and was not good. It was actually one of the rare times my husband could not finish his drink. Kyoto Sunset ($15): This one wasn't bad and tasted like honeydew. The ingredients include honeydew Calpico, so that makes sense. Johnny Walker Black ($16): This was our friend's drink, which I think was just coke and Johnny Walker. Nothing special about the taste either. Given the smell and so-so/terrible cocktails, we will not be coming back or taking our friends here.

At least one leg has been kicked out, one is suffering. The Mansion Bar used to have a great recipe for success - proven by how busy and regular the customers were and loyal (or was), and the top tier talent that was routine for 10+ years. Me and my friends have a relationship with the long time staff as customers as well as the excellent music talent. The cause? Not precisely sure but I think it's new ownership, at the very least a new Food & Bev manager. I also know the staff is very upset about these changes and the relationships with the repeat music talent is now a mess. I wouldn't be surprise if the staff start leaving. I'm hoping whomever is making these decisions can revert back to what was working. Dallas has a lot of great venues that will fill this void.

(I rarely post Yelp reviews so that's how bad it was) I ordered the steak frites medium-well (thinking it would probably come out well-done, as most non-steakhouses tend to do). After a long wait for our food (the restaurant didn't look that busy, but maybe a lot of to-go orders?) I received the pictured steak: I'm pretty sure I can still hear it mooing. How anyone could look at this and think this is medium-well is beyond me. I tried taking a bite, but it was so raw it was inedible to eat - I would've been chewing for ages. I brought this up to my waiter, who said he would take it back and speak to the kitchen. My group needed to leave for another event (didn't anticipate waiting nearly an hour for our food) so we simultaneously asked for our checks. The kicker? My waiter did not follow up with me on how raw the steak was and did not comp my meal/provide any kind of remedy. I wasn't looking for a free meal, but the lack of follow-through to remedy the situation was the icing on the cake (or insert some kind of raw steak pun). My cocktail (which all arrived AFTER our meals were delivered) was pretty good, thus the 2 stars. But I question why/how my steak was so raw despite me waiting 45-55 minutes for it. Overall, only come here for drinks - so long as you're okay with waiting forever & a day for them.
