GREAT GUY! I was Referred by a friend for an unexpected engine pipe failure. Brought it by and he stopped what he was doing and got me in to diagnose the problem. He explained what needed to be done, ordered the parts and installed them the following morning first thing. Very reasonable. I've used these guys 3 or 4 times already. Some folks have given them one star. I don't know what they're talking about. I've had brakes, tires, inspections etc., never an issue, fair prices and so on. I didn't give 5 stars because I've never had major mechanical work done there, otherwise I'm sure I'd give them 5 stars. read more

I have been using Start to Finish for years, and have never had a problem or felt disappointed when I leave. Eric is a good guy who always takes the time to diagnose and explain the problem in laymen's terms and is reasonably priced. I make sure to see him every 5,000 miles for oil changes. I finally was fed up with the tire problems I had after buying the tire from Islip Tire & Auto so I went to Tire Express in East Islip because the tire lost so much air it was really scary. Tire Express said that the valve that Islip Tire & Auto had installed was actually corroded and old. Mind you this was a brand new tire. I had taken the tire two times back to Islip Auto; they replaced the valve once and told me the second time the valve was fine and it must be my rim. Tire Express said no way. I guess Islip Tire wanted to sell me a new rim. read more

FYI. I wrote a completely honest review of my experience, and yelp has hidden it. NOT honest of them. I am reposting it. A completely, true, honest, experience. Let's see if Yelp will honor their commitment to truth in reviews: Do not go here for a car inspection. Do not. And believe me, I have gone here before and did not feel this way. New owners the past few years have brought in their old con artist mechanic ways. Be warned. I have no axe to grind. I just wanted decent, honest service. I got the opposite. Remember when you had a mechanic you could trust? When you would take your car for repairs and inspections and you could trust them to fix what you needed, to help you keep your car running without ripping you off. When you could rely on the shop to want to treat you right so you could return and feel secure in knowing they were not out to rip you off? Well, this place ain't that. They "up selled" me on items I did not need, looked at and told me I had to have a part to pass the inspection- and it had nothing to do with the inspection requirement. Simply lied. They pulled the car apart and closed all their shop doors so I could not see them, then opened all the doors up after they had done their "inspection" bringing me parts and their sales pitch. They threatened to hold my car hostage when it was in pieces and threatened to charge me for their "work". Classic, old style, rip off techniques. They came out double teaming me, doing the classic up sell, over priced repair job- using a small defect to add on unnecessary work: all at three times the average price, including labor. Plus, they made me wait hours for their disservice to be completed. The sign outside promising discount service- you can see it outside with a price listed- is just a fantasy. Inspection Due? See that sign also? Do not go there unless you want a bunch of crooks practicing the desperate, grab the custormer, suck them dry and who cares about seeing them again as long as you get the most you can out of them for that visit rip off by the crooked book mechanic technique. They are the sort of mechanic shop that gives honest mechanics a bad name. Just remember the worst mechanic experience you ever had, how you left feeling miserable, used, abused and your wallet assaulted. And I am lucky they didn't get more from me. Ech. Such a feeling of being literally violated by con artists. A real dirty, ill feeling after being taken for a ride by these creeps. Seriously. I warned you. Do not go here, especially for an inspection. Unless you feel like you need to be reminded how lousy some mechanics can be. Avoid. read more

To start off..... excellent service. Management was great. Even gave me a ride home and picked me up. Went in for inspection extremely nervous because I had just moved to area and didn't know who to trust. These guys went through my car, showed me everything I had going on. prioritized all the work I needed and SHOWED me all the problems and explained them. I walked in nervous and knowing nothing about my car and left feeling confident and knowledgeable enough about my repairs that I was able to explain them to my husband and not be yelled at for being taken for a ride!!! trust me that was a first. great service and fair pricing. will definitely recommend these guys and return for anything I need done on my cars! read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. I can not attest to the abilities of this company's mechanical ability but beware THEY ARE UNSCRUPULOUS CROOKS when it comes to selling the used cars on their lots. Apparently they have become accustomed to using the "as is" adage after selling you a piece of junk after praising high and low the condition, drive, safety and reliability of the car you just bought. They sold a vehicle to a father who was assured flat out that the car he was buying was safe for his two children, until the throttle to the gas pedal stopped working- in traffic. This car dealer knew the codes that were wrong and just wanted to make a sale, he could have been responsible and up front but instead tried steamrolling a father of two for almost HALF of what he paid for the car in repair charges. This company is being flagged to the BBB for being deceitful and crooked. But for all those out there, DONT buy a thing from these guys. read more

had to go here 3 times for the same gas leak.today have to bring it to a different mecanic for the same reason.third time he fixed it said i shouldnt have any problems for a while 2 weeks later going back to a different mecanic..not the smartest place to go read more
