Mavis Bay Shore, which borders Oconee Estates, has proven to be a highly disruptive neighbor. Employees at this location frequently play excessively loud music with heavy bass that causes nearby homes and windows to vibrate. In addition, air horns are sounded throughout the day, creating further disturbance. Such noise levels are unnecessary for the normal operation of a tire shop. My neighbors and I have repeatedly contacted the business to request that the music, bass, and air horns be reduced or discontinued. Unfortunately, the manager has been consistently rude and unresponsive to these concerns. read more

You get what you pay for. I was a regular at the Mavis tire on main Street in Bayshore for years. But after extreme staff changes and service that has gone down hill significantly, I had to leave and write a review. The last two times I paid for service on my truck, the "mechanic" they used was a young man who was actually learning on the job. Big mistake when dealing with a $46K Toyota 4 Runner TRD off road. Simple tasks. Oil change? Well he left the seal off and it leaked oil for a week. Tire rotation? Simple right? Well the same guy stripped the lug right off. Add to learning on the fly, he needed a translator. Avoid this Mavis on main street in Bayshore. The Mavis tire on sunrise Hwy in Bayshore is way more professional. And better staffed. read more

Went their on a Saturday in October for tiers on my van all four. Got their early at 9 am . Ot busy at all. Took 3 hours to get them put on. Here is the kick, they play games with each other in the service shop like little girls, they put my lug nuts on backwards, to which when I am getting brakes down a month later can't get the lug nuts off , the mechanic broke some of the lug nuts off just to get the tire off. To which I have to have new roaders on , so instead of just brake shoes now I am into this fix for 1100.00. would never go back, people check you cars and trucks.nthey hire the most uneducated , street thugs who are brain dead read more

If I could I would give them 0 stars. My mother got 2 new tires about a month ago. A few days ago she got a nail in her tire that could not be plugged. My boyfriend took my moms car to this store since my mother had insurance on the tires. The guy Jeff ignored my boyfriend for 15 minutes before he offered help. He was told he had to wait awhile until the car can be looked at. After an hour he came up to my boyfriend and told him the tire wasn't new and he'd have to pay full price for a new one. My boyfriend took him out to the car and showed him the tire was not old. Jeff told him he has to get a tire from another store and to come back Wednesday at 1pm. Today I called to make sure the tire was in. That's when Jeff informed me they get tires in on thursdays and he had no idea what I was talking about ordering my mom a tire. That's when my boyfriend got on the phone to remind him of their conversation. He then causally said oh I forgot what day it was it's tomorrow. I never said I'd get the tire the next day. I called customer service to make a complaint and was told the manager would call me right away. Well I'm still waiting. My mother has been a customer for over 20 years and she gets treated like this. From now on we will be going else where for our car needs. No one contacted me yesterday nor today. I have a nail in my tire - a very slow leak. Call Mavis - sure we'll fix it... Come on over. I'm there in a flash but they have no idea who I am. "We're very busy and understaffed" says Dylan the manager blaming the "call center." Come back later, come back tomorrow just don't expect a quick fix... I start making preparations to leave the car when he comes up with a new one. "Your car goes too fast, we don't repair those tires. It's company policy." I give up. I know when I am fighting with a functionary and not a person with a mind of his own. I am a healthcare worker at the hospital down the road. I was leaving work and my tire pressure light came on. There was a nail in my tire and I needed it plugged up so I could make it home since I live 30 min away. I also had to pick up my baby at daycare and didn't feel safe driving on the parkway with a flat. This place was the first tire place I saw. I waited 10 min before the man at the front desk even acknowledged me. I told him I work at the hospital and I just left work and need my tire plugged so I can make it home and pick up my baby. He said "all his guys are very busy and didn't have their lunch breaks yet, he closes in two hours and can't do it today" . I again said please I need to pick up my baby and get home and would appreciate it if he could help me out quick. He again said no and told me to go to another tire place that's probably only 5 min away. I went to another place and the man working there was happy to help me, it took him 5 min to take out the nail and plug up my tire. I'm not one for yelp reviews but Eric at Mavis in East Islip is such a genuine guy. Came here about two weeks about and thought for sure I needed new brakes. He checked them out, and told me I didn't need them. From my own personally experience every opportunity mechanics have to make some money they take it. He was so genuine and honest. Today I came back for two new tires, and Eric offered me the best tires in my price range, discounted them and everything took under an hour! I have had pretty solid experiences at other Mavis locations, but I live closest to this one, and it is absolutely horrible. They are liars and thieves! My drivers side door was damaged and the wheel rim rubs against it and it makes a popping sound upon opening. It was fine when I got there and it never sat in the parking lot, heck I saw it almost. I waited there while they were changing oil and heard the lift coming down. They lied to me straight to my face and this was a small job that would've taken no more than 15 mins. I've spent thousands at Mavis in the past. They try to upset everything and give you parts you don't need. Really rude, shady people. Go elsewhere. read more

I really want to give zero stars but it's not an option. I brought my car in for a slow leak in the rear drivers side tire. When I received my car back every time I turn the wheel to the left it squeaks. Brought the car back to Mavis only to be told the car is fine there's nothing wrong. The car did not squeak when we originally brought it in, so clearly there's something wrong now. Not sure why all 4 tires were removed to begin with. We only wanted the slow leak to be fixed. The car is a 2017 with 15,000 miles on it. I'm so disappointed in my experience at the Mavis Tire on Montauk hwy in Bay Shore, NY. I will NEVER recommend them or go there again. I originally purchased four new tires from Mavis late 2018. I also purchased an extended warranty with the tires. The other day, my tire pressure light went off. Yesterday, I stopped at this location (where I originally purchased the tires), to see if they could take a quick look. I was turned away from the front desk clerk for them being too busy and was told to come back the following day, today. I was fine with that. I then also made an appointment online for the following day at this location to secure my spot. Today I walked in and the same desk clerk said he couldn't help me at all. He told me rudely to go to another location..even though he himself told me to come back today. I also told him I made an appointment for this specific location. It didn't matter to him. Horrible customer service. Do not recommend this location. read more

Go to HC Auto tire on 5th Ave (going northbound after the train tracks) or another Mavis if you need something more than free air. I really wanted to be patient with them since I came to the staff needing help replacing my tire (one of my tires was just on the verge of popping, according to one of the mechanics). I waited about 1.5 hours just to have to wait more to get help. Ultimately I had to go to HC auto to get the help I need. I want to support Mavis since they weren't blatantly rude. But if your job is solely to help customers and their tires, you should probably prioritize and not forget the customer over your lunch break. 1.5 out of 5 stars read more

I've had multiple services done here and i've always been satisfied. Good prices, quick service, and friendly employees.

TL;DR - Took advantage of someone who doesn't know cars, charge $350 for a $150 part(at most after searched the market) and then claim he already gave discount because "part department" said it would been $630. Also can't come up with paper work for the part invoice or reason for why the part needed to be swapped (lower control arm) after a standard inspection. Threw paper work at my mother and told her to get out of the store. I would absolutely not recommend this shop unless you like to be ripped off on standard maintenance and then have them throw you out the door. My mother had her car serviced there for a while, recently she showed me a receipt on one of her standard inspections. She got an inspection, changed out a signal bulb, replaced both front lower control arms, and an alignment done. I could not think of a reason why this would be needed under a standard maintenance and inspection, and my mother told me they didn't give her a reason why, she just paid for it(she doesn't know cars at all). They charged a total of $450 for the LCA job with $350 for parts alone. I understand shops make some money on parts, but after doing searching, i found out at most the parts are about $150 total, not to mention the cheapest pair of LCA are only $45 new, its obscured. I was outraged and decided to have my mother go back to the shop to get an explanation for this work done, and have me talk to the store manager greg over the phone (I live out of town). So Greg picked up and i explained my concerns to him, his attitude was good at first, then it turned for the worse after i inquired about the LCA. He started throwing numbers at me saying how he always took care of my mother's car and always gave her discounts. I asked him why the LCA need to be replaced and if there are records, he told me paperwork are submitted to corporate and he doesn't have it. I ask if there is an invoice for these parts, he told me there is no way for him to get it because everything goes to corporate(which i think is BS, because shipping will have paper work with an invoice attached). He told me he can call the parts department and have them find out how much they are, and later came back with $315 each and keep saying how he already gave my mother a discount. With the part number he gave me, i checked out a standard price(GM no longer make these since saturn is gone), the most expensive was $150 for BOTH sides. I get shops charge a little more on parts, but at over 100% increase? its highway robbery. Especially taking advantage of someone who clearly doesn't know what is going on. After getting nowhere with the guy, i got off the phone. He then threw the receipt paper work back at my mother and told her not to bring her car here any more and get out of the store. Its guys like these that give legitimate mechanics and shops a bad name and i'd absolutely advise people to take their business elsewhere. read more
