I had made an appointment for an oil change using a VALID coupon that was advertised on their website and Facebook. When I arrived, I was told they would not honor the valid advertised price because their website hadn't been updated, and they wanted to charge me an additional $20. I was trying to explain in a calm manner why this VIOLATES federal laws like the Federal Trade Commission Act. I was truly shocked that a small business like this was so unaware of basic business practices. When I questioned why I should have to pay more because of an error on their website, the conversation turned into a heated argument. I explained that customers shouldn't be penalized for a business's failure to update its advertised pricing. I asked to speak to the owner and instead a male employee came out to yell at me when I attempted to explain how this could be misconstrued as a Bait & Switch tactic. They eventually agreed to honor the coupon, but then told me to "never come back." After years of being a loyal customer and referring friends and family, I found the entire experience horrific and unprofessional. Businesses make mistakes, but how they handle those mistakes--and how they treat loyal customers--matters. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I can no longer recommend A & R Auto, BUYER BEWARE

Brought my car in for some standard maintenance and a noise I was hearing in the front end, and they took care of it without trying to upsell me on a million things I didn't need. They gave me a straightforward breakdown of what was actually wrong and the pricing was very fair for the area. The guys at the desk are down-to-earth and don't give you the runaround. The only reason I'm knocking off one star is that communication can be a little slow on busy days--it took them a bit longer than expected to call me back with the initial estimate. But the quality of the work is solid, the price was right, and they get the job done right the first time. Glad to have a reliable local shop right here in North Babylon. They said that wasn't a problem but when my daughter got there to pick up the car, she said he was so nasty because she asked for the estimate stating what was wrong with it and how much it was going to cost she said he literally went off on her and said that they don't have a computer They don't do that,he told me ok the phone that I need a front and rear axle and brakes. So I brought-it for a second opinion to another mechanic 2004 Toyota Solara does not have a rear axle. He wanted to charge me for a front and a rear axle and there is no rear axle. What's up with that now I'm grateful he was rude. I would've never bought it to another mechanic and I would've been paying for something that didn't exist.
