I hate leaving low reviews. However, this was a sad experience. I had attended this fair during my youth, and it was sketchy then, but had a certain charm to it. However, as an adult, this attraction appears to have gotten even sketchier. Outrageously priced, massive lines, poor crowd control, unruly patrons, rude and seedy vendors/ride operators, etc. For the prices, you truly aren't getting much food or entertainment-wise. Same goes for the entry ticket fee. Overall, the experience doesn't deliver for the price. Check out the Sussex County Fair for a true experience that you will enjoy, especially considering it is nothing like what I mention above. I'll pass on this one in the future. read more

I have been coming to this fair for years and years and for a long time. I love fairs in general so I'm a little biased already. It's a fun time. Tickets were online only and the process was easy. You have the option of entry fee and/or a wristband that gets you unlimited rides. The entrance and intial part of the fair is mostly food and the crowd attractions. Pig racing, dirt bike show, Magic etc. The rides were past that along with the standard fair games to win prizes. Most of the staff I encountered were all very nice. It's a heavy NO for me. I've been here a few times before and never experienced the ratchness I was subjected to! I get it, outside is open now so everyone is out ;wanting to have a good time. But thissss??? Way too many BBL's gone wrong, disrespectful men trying to touch me, bad ass kids showing out, it was awful. Not to mention, the park was over packed. Even the line for the fast pass was extremely long. After a certain time, it felt like it's an adult only zone...more couples than kids, kissing and touching-like get a room, there's hotels down on 78 get one! I will not be back. read more

I'm very upset that I wasted so much money on admission and couldn't even get on rides because the lines were so long. That was a complete rip off taking advantage of this post covid situation. YOU failed at making the fair run fairly between the general public &Fast pass holders. For large numbered families like us we are 6 we spent 227 & change & we couldn't get on any rides because the time was wasted on just waiting...the haunted house 1hr and 20 min wait. My family and I went to the Meadowlands State Fair for 4th of July 2024. We hadn't been in several years and since we enjoyed our last visit we decided to go there this year for fun and fireworks. It was a disaster. The tickets were overpriced for what you get, it was extremely crowded, the food prices were outrageous. The shows were lackluster (except the magic show and motorcycle show). The fireworks display was scheduled for after 10 p.m. but it rained. We waited until after 11 and left - I don't know if it was pushed to later - after 10 is already too late to start fireworks but after 11 is ridiculous. What a scam. I'm sure fair officials follow the weather forecast. Why couldn't they start the fireworks at 9:00 pm before it started raining? We learned an expensive lesson. Not wasting time and money there again! We would have done better watching local fireworks. read more

It's $42 to get in. A turkey leg is $20, a frozen banana is $6, a lemonade. Is $12. We didn't get to do the one thing that we went to do because the line for their service was over 2.5 hours. We waited on that line all that time, and then the fair closed, and 4 out of 6 of us left empty handed. It was a huge disappointment that we weren't able to accomplish the thing that was the "draw" for us. I called the number on the ticket to see if they would let us come back to accomplish our goal, but they were rigid in that we would just need to pay full entrance fee to try again. Sorry, but the $42 entrance fee is not worth it. We hope to find another way to support that one performer we follow. read more

WOW! I go to this fair every year, and THIS year was the absolute best! Not that I was disappointed in the past, but this year I was highly impressed! The $5 parking has never been a hassle for me. I normally arrive around 8pm and pull right into a spot. There are parking attendants everywhere to assist you and to help keep things flowing. Security has stepped its game up! You must pass through a metal detector before entering and your bag will be searched. Keep in mind that all bottled drinks are prohibited, so skip bringing anything with you. The food is decent! It's the fair, so you know what to expect here. Funnel cake, deep fried EVERYTHING, gyros, hot dogs, pizza...you name it! They even have a few new additions like rolled ice cream which was a pleasant surprise!! Be sure to check out Danny's Lemonade stand for some of the most refreshing Lemonade ever! You can find him just feet away from the main entrance! The games are of course overpriced but FUN nonetheless! They have your typical Fair rides here! Fun rides for teens/adults, and an entire section of rides just for kids! This is not Great Adventure, but the State Fair! If you keep that in mind, you will have a fantastic time! We waited under 5 minutes to get on each ride.... GET YOUR HAND STAMPED! Don't waste your time or money with getting tickets! The hand stamp is well worth it, and it saves you money in the end. The free shows are one of my favorites! Go check out the Pig Racing and thank me when you're done! They've also added more cool shows like the Sea Lion show and Acrobatic Divers! The fair grounds are CLEAN! Although I didn't use the bathrooms, every time I walked by, the ladies were constantly cleaning. They have several benches throughout the designated space, so you can sit down and take a rest if you like. The Meadowlands State Fair is AWESOME! The Meadowlands Fair over at Metlife Stadium has been around for as long as I can remember! I remember going for the first time in High School and going now as an adult is totally a different experience. The crowd that attends is very mixed and ranges from teenagers on dates to families just enjoying quality time with each other. What can you find at this fair? Well a little bit of everything. You have your typical carnival rides likes the Zipper and the Ferris Wheel, vendors that sell everything from Fried Oreo Cookies to Gator Bites and of course a free petting zoo! This is definitely a favorite for kids because it allows you to feed the animals for only a quarter so be prepared with change. And don't worry they have a station where you can wash your hands afterwards :) And this can definitely get a little pricey so be prepared to spend. We opted for the $36 band that included unlimited rides and if you wanted a fast pass to avoid the lines it was an additional $15. Best deal I found for food was a pizza slice for $4 that was actually really good and filling! This year it's was opened from Thursday June 20th to Sunday July 7th so if you have never been, check it out next year! read more

Extremely overpriced and not worth it unless you want to hang out with all your friends. i was charged 38$ for admission with rides included.. as they no longer offer just general entry admission, i understand last summer you lost money but am 37 years old i dont do most of the rides here and if any, but fine i paid it because i said what the hell we are here already and we come every year at least more then a few times.. this summer will be the first and last time i go.. i will probably will not attend next summer as it just feels like am being milked. The whole aspect of a fair is to make it family friendly.. not to squeeze as much out of me to the last drop! very unfortunate! for management! greed does not pay, if you would of made it 20$ general admission i would of understand but you crossed that threshold.. good luck read more

It's really hard to give this a good rating when I don't feel like ever going back again. It's certainly a novel experience, especially for children, and that's the only reason I would recommend anyone else to go. There are standard rides and games and some marginally amusing shows like a pig race. Poor pigs! Food stand to food stand, the fare was hit or miss and just okay at best. The fried Oreos and peanut butter balls were not my style and were pretty messy to eat. I always look forward to funnel cake and there were plenty of vendors. It was okay. Oh Meadowlands State Fair, I always think I'm going to have a grand old time visiting you, and every time I get burned and hate every minute of it. It's probably my own fault for usually going on the "cheap" nights but really, those nights have the best deals and I really don't want to be emptying my pockets at this place. Cheap nights are great for deals, but horrible for lines and lines of people, and some questionable smells throughout the fair. You obviously do a lot of waiting at cheap night. Every time I go it's super hot, over crowded, and just absolutely gross. I leave feeling like 10 showers won't even save me. They have a lot of rides, and obviously the lines are long on cheap night. My husband and i brought my daughter to the fair this year, and the kiddie rides weren't overcrowded at all, which was nice. She had a great time riding on some of the smaller rides. We walked around the fair and saw a lot of workers (mostly at the game stalls) heckling and calling out to customers. I guess that's to be expected though. The food and drinks are EXPENSIVE, so if you are hungry or get thirsty, make sure you have enough cash on you. Some stalls take cards as well I believe. They do have a dole whip stand, and I think that's the only reason my husband really wants to go to the fair. It was nice to see my daughter so excited about the lights and sounds, but I'm just a miserable person and did not enjoy any of it. Sorry Meadowlands State Fair! I haven't been to this fair in many years but I'm happy I went back because it was so much fun. I went of Friday 6/21 which was their Dollar Day discount day. Admission was $10pp but parking, rides, games, and select food items were only $2 each. They had a good selection of $2 foods like hot dogs, pizza, veggie pitas, French fries, funnel cake, fried Oreos, zeppole, water melon, popcorn, slushees, churros, corn on the cob... I had a gyro for $10 from the Greek stand but it wasn't that great. I also had a delicious $2 corn on the cob and the fried Oreos... all of my favorite carnival treats. We played a few games and won some prizes. They also had free shows to see... We saw the pig racing, the cycle circus, and the lumberjacks. Lots of rides but I'm not really a ride person but everyone else was having fun on them. I'm really happy we went, it was a great Friday night... definitely check it out if you have a chance... read more

Waited in line to see if there's a general admission and was told that there's only one ticket called the FUN PASS which includes general admission and UNLIMITED rides -- $35. I don't know how reliable is places, but it doesn't sound like you could get the most out of your experience. I went a couple days ago and then earlier I called to see if they were open but it said a generic bot just said we are not open right now and then they hung up on me. No one was even answering. So then when I found out that it took 30 minutes to get there. They weren't even open think I could have a better experience anywhere else but they choose their hours to be 6 PM to 12 AM and when you want to have a fun activity to do you have to go somewhere that's not gonna be as fun at night because it's gonna be way more crowded. You're not gonna be able to go on any rides. The food I heard in another review is also very expensive. Even Point Pleasant wasn't as busy as it was at night. I guarantee you that you won't even be able to go on the rides because of how long the wait is. Also $40 per person not very exciting and I don't think I'll be returning. read more

I have been coming to this fair since I started dating my wife. It is one of our "traditions" of things to do locally. They have rides for the kids, many different choices of food vendors and lots of live entertainment. My wife and I enjoy Rosaire's pig races. Rosaire's also has the Big Cat Show which we bypassed this year due to the on and off rain. They also had a Zoltar Fortune Teller machine, if you are a Tom Hanks fan, you will remember this was the machine in the movie Big. Parking is free Mon-Wednesday with the exception of July 3rd., Thurs - Saturday and 3rd it is $4. Admission today was $9.00 for adults but they have multiple bargain nights if you go to their website. I would come here for just the sausage & peppers sandwich and the zeppoles. This reminds me of Seaside Heights down the New Jersey Shore when I was a teenager. It is a relatively cheap night out, the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is they didn't have the Bat Mobile or Bat Copter this year. read more

Disturbing experience. First thing I noticed were the "freak" shows of human oddities - smallest woman of the world, wolf boy, snake woman, three eyed man. It was like going back in time, at least a century back! I thought this was something we stopped doing but apparently not, we still pay to see people with disabilities or deformities instead of helping them have a normal social life. Be empathetic and don't pay a dollar to see someone who was born different from you. Then there are animal shows. There is an elephant that rides 4 people at the time on a small block of concrete covered in hay. We read that there are sea lions and I'm glad we didn't catch a show because that will be so sad. I later tried to find pictures and, as I suspected from this place, they are three of them that are kept in a tiny pool. There are more smaller animals and none are kept in proper conditions. Moving on to food, there are no healthy options. I opted for a lemonade and watched a girl hand squeeze lemons and then handle cash, no gloves. The ingredients are 1.5 lemons, glass of water, glass of ice and at least 4-5 tea spoons of sugar. I was a fool and expected to enjoy some nature or a sunset view. The park looks just like a parking lot, all with metal fences and concrete. We got called out by most game hosts trying to lure us in. We didn't play anything or taken any rides. We ended up stumbling on the hypnosis session when the woman was made to bark as a dog. The only thing that was good about this place is caricature stand. These guys were good! Overall I hope this place closes down. Hopefully with some law suits. read more

Decent fair to come to. I like the location because you get an amazing view of Metlife Stadium aka Giants Stadium. Parking was free when I came to the fair. Admission was $4 and admission + unlimited rides was $21. It's not worth paying $21. There are not that many rides. Some of the cooler rides, you still had to pay for because the unlimited rides does not include the cooler rides. You're better off paying admission fee and then pay for the rides you want to go on. Some of the cool shows are the pig race, lions and tigers show, and the daredevils show. They even have a petting zoo. Rides that are worth going are the skyline ride and ferris wheel, which are included in your unlimited rides. The lines for most of the rides, if not all of them were insanely long. Some of the cool rides that are not included in the unlimited rides are- The elephant and camel ride. $6 to ride an elephant, which is neat. I rode an elephant!!! Nice, slow, smooth ride. Another cool ride was the batcopter ride. A helicopter ride around the state fair, you get a cool view of the city skyline and the Metlife Stadium. $50 to do 2 go arounds. It was such a fun experience. Although at some points, I thought I was going to fall off because there is no door and all I had was the seat belt to prevent me from falling. Would I say it's worth going...yeah maybe if you get the admissions only ticket and then pay for the rides you want to on inside the fair. read more

Hmmm being that we don't have kids I have to give this fair 3 stars. If we had kids I would rate it 4 stars. As a couple I felt we paid $22 to walk around and buy food. I must give them props for having a lot of rides, carnival style freak shows and tons of sweet tooth food! In all it was tons of fun, but I believe family goers with kids would rate this fair 4-5 stars. Today 4 adults including myself to get out and just simply hangout. We enjoyed live animals, horses, funnel cakes, corn on the cob, lemonade and other carnival foods. I really enjoyed stand that made the grilled corn on the cob. They also had a banging cheese fries and 2 dope drinks. The drinks were the downtown and the uptown. They were lovely mixed drinks that involved lemonade and ice tea or lemonade and fruit punch. At $5 a pop and $3 for refills if you kept your cup. Jean is the man of the show! Stop in and you be disappointed with anything here. Next year we may return. Maybe try to make a more family kid style event. I'm sure they will enjoy rides, roller coasters, live animals and amusement style games. If you have little ones please go as they will have a blast. It's the biggest fair in this area and I'm a fan. I always have a good time and the food is always delicious. The rides are silly but who cares, that's what a fair is! I love the corn dogs, turkey legs, funnel cakes, sweet roasted corn, popcorn, the list just goes on! Each year, it varies slightly with new food trucks, which I always appreciate! This year had a hibachi one (too hot to have any but looked good) as well as a seafood one with lobster rolls (maybe next time!). There a few fun rides that will make you want to throw up all that you ate. While there are also the horribly cheesy rides like the haunted house ones. I'm a big fan of their Big Cat Show done by the Big Cat Sanctuary from Florida. The guy was amazing and knew his stuff when it came to animals. He also pushed everyone in the audience to go to a no kill shelter - I hope they return ever year (the lion, Handsome, was the most gorgeous lion I've ever seen in person). My friends and I had a great laugh and had a lot of fun. I'd definitely go back, just as I have since I was in middle school! read more

Omgoodness!! I have lived in New Jersey for 21 years and never ever knew about this place! This place was suppppeerr fun and I recommend it to everyone! Although the prices were a tad high it was worth it! There are rides for all ages, shows that will make ANYONE laugh, and food galore! I had an amazzinngg time and will definitely will love to come again with friends and family! I definitely recommend coming early to ride the rides and then watching the shows later at night (while eating some gyros and funnel cake:). Some days the fair has discounts/coupons on admission, parking, rides and foods so make sure to check before you go! Perhaps there is a bit of hometown nostalgia in my love for this annual fair, but some of you people are HARSH as hell. This is a two week fair set up in the Giants stadium PARKING LOT. Cripes. I've been going here somewhat regularly since childhood, and my boyfriend and I have been going every summer for the past few years. We attempted to go this year on opening dollar night with some friends, and that was the worst idea I've ever had. If I could rate the fair on opening night, it would get zero stars. The line was so freaking disorganized and long (they should have cut off admission earlier than they did), that after waiting 1.5 hours on line, we basically realized as we got closer to the entrance gate, the line wrapped around another part of the lot and would have probably taken another hour. Terrible. We did a redo later in the middle of the following week and had zero issue. So unless you are really trying to save a buck, give it up on the cheap days. People and their kids are bananas. Adult admission plus unlimited rides this year was $29 on the day we went, but again, it varies. I think that price is fair if you commit to riding a crap ton of rides, which my ass gladly did. No log flume this year - wtf! Also, no person taking our photo at the gate - double wtf! You win some, you lose some. There are a bunch of free shows - we caught the pig race this year, and that was actually pretty awesome. All in all, I think the Meadowlands Fair is a pretty good time full of standard rides, junky food, and a bunch of gross bros and their girlfriends. Sign me up. read more

It's getting better. We live very close and now with a 3 year old want to come more often. I can say in past years the scene was not the safest which has turned us away a few time as bringing a little one there when there with stories of fighting and violence is not ideal. We went last night for discount night with hesitance but was pleasantly surprised. They cracked down on security making folks empty pockets, walk through metal detectors, and dump liquids etc. And had State police presence throughout the fair! his was the best decision made. The park was safer feeling and less riff raff. We will definitely be going back. Maybe even once again this year. read more

The NJ State Fair always has some interesting attractions and events. Food options are always good and there is plenty to choose from. Plenty of parking on both the stadium side and the boondoggle side. Admission is reasonable and the prices for the attractions and food is also good. The admission lets you see the dirt bike show, pig race, and the hypnosis show which is funny. The dunk tank has a hilarious smart mouth so def. swing by. The sky line is 5 tickets ($1 per ticket) per person. It's definitely worth it. Just make sure you hip on going towards the exit. Fried pickles and corn dogs were ok. 3.5 Stars I'm not so sure what the expectations are. It's an annual carnival. Prices are a bit too high, the food is a bit repetitive, and it gets a little crowded. On more popular days, prices are a little more. It's like being down the shore on the boardwalk without the drive. We decided to take the kids for the day, and all of our expectations were met. We got there early, and took advantage of the unlimited passes. Definitely the way to go, as the crowd was sparse during the day, and really started to swell after about 8. Keep in mind that tickets are $1 a piece, with most rides being between 3 and 6 tickets. After 4-5 rides, including the sky ride, the day pass has paid for itself. It's a little frustrating that some of the rides don't accept the full day pass, but require additional tickets. I understand it makes sense for some things, such as the helicopter ride. However, things like bumper boats, it just seems to make sense to include. A little nickle and diming is to be expected at a carnival, but don't overdo it. Most rides had very little wait early in the day--especially tamer rides for younger children. Even the mousetrap roller coaster--one of the more popular rides, only had a modest wait beginning around 5, and a far longer wait after 8:30. There are several free shows, such as a Tiger/Lion show and a motorcycle show. Be sure to get there at least 15-30 minutes early if you want a seat, as the shows fill up very quickly. The hypnotist did not start his shows until 7. Again, the food is repetitive, with pizza, deep fried everything, gyros, etc all over the place. This year, the quality and variety of food was not on par with last year. Gone were the nice little truck doing filet mignon, lobster rolls, chowders, and ahi tuna. Gone was a gelato and cheesecake stand as well as the rotisserie chicken stand to name a few. There was also an exceptional store selling flavored nuts, and giving out free samples of every flavor. Honey Cashews!!! Nice people too. The candy stand is ridiculously expensive! Lots of crying kids, sure, but it was a hot day out there, with so many distractions and stimulation overload. Lots of laughing, smiling kids of all ages as well, with couples, friends and families all having a great time. Sure things are a little pricy, but nothing prevents you from going on a discount day complete with free parking and discount admission. You'd save even more by buying just a few tickets as you go along. They allow you to stamp your hand for re-entry, so you could even bring a cooler and pack drinks and a snack or two, never having to patronize the vendors. Good times. Exhausting :-) read more

The fair was so much fun, the rides were awesome and the fast pass made everything amazing because we were able to get on everything right away. Only reason this doesn't get five stars is because the food isn't very vegetarian friendly. I wish they had more veggie stands without all the fried stuff! read more

If you're going to come to the Fair, try and make it on a day when they have specials. For example, the first night it opens everything is a dollar. The last night you can buy an unlimited everything stamp for $25. They have other promotions and I strongly suggest you go on one of those days because it will not be worth the money on any of the other days. There are definitely more vendors than rides, but the rides are really good. Very fun for kids, though I went with a group of 20-somethings and had a great time. It's kind of what you make it honestly, because the NJ state fair doesn't compare to other state fairs--it's small and expensive, with little variety (except for random things...a shark tank? A pig race? What?) Don't drive more than an hour out of your way to come; it won't be worth it. But if you're within an hour away and go with a fun group of people on a special price day, you'll be glad you came. read more

around the new york area we dont get to many really big and good carnivals and fairs.. this is deff one of my best..if not the best!! good food, a fee shows, and cool rides!!! i love this carnival wish we had more like this. read more

Went here for the first time yesterday and had an amazing time! If you come for the rides, the all-included admission pass is worth it! It pays for itself after you go to 3-4 rides. Me and my bf are particularly crazy about fair rides, and we were so glad there was almost no line. I kinda thought and wished the "souvenir" bottles come with free refills but apparently it's $2 refills for the most part. The best part of the day was on our way out, we stopped by the Medieval Times booth and got a pretty good deal. 2 tickets for the price of one, no expiration. read more
