After many (many - MANY) years of passing by on the highway, we finally got to experience it for the first time. Bought tickets for a Friday night show on a holiday weekend. Went early and there was a line waiting to get it. Not crazy. The show actors came out to greet us. After the wait we got let in and assigned a color. Took a picture and then we waited in the lobby for the show to start. Bought some trinkets and other items. Got called to go to a door. The arena was cold, so bring a light sweater. Walked to our seats and the server introduced herself. She told us what to expect and when. The show and food started. The food was good, no memorable. Show was also entertaining. Server was efficient. Overall, a well managed location, good, clean and friendly service, fun show you end up cheering for your color. Make sure to tip your server well if you think they did a good job. Had fun and won't wait again for many years to go back. read more

The beginning felt a little slow with the falconry and horse demonstrations, and I started wondering if the advertising was overselling it. Thankfully, once the knight tournament started, the entire atmosphere changed. The jousting matches, exploding lances, sword fights, and audience interaction made the second half incredibly entertaining. I thought the last hour alone was worth the ticket price. The food was definitely the weakest part of the experience. Since dinner is included, I wasn't expecting anything amazing, but it was still below average. Even the fountain soda had almost no carbonation, which was a little disappointing. One tip: arrive at least 30 minutes before the show starts. The earlier you're seated, the closer you'll be to the arena, and it's absolutely worth it. I'd happily come back for the performance, but not for the meal. read more

Astronomical Blessings! What a wondrous spectacle we didst witness! The hall was truly majestic, and the revelry was of the highest order. The atmosphere and the feats of skill were most phenomenal to behold. As for the victuals, they were prepared with great mastery, seasoned to perfection and most savory. We were served a feast of roasted dragon, tubers of the earth, and sweet maize, followed by a refreshing flagon of nectar. The tournament featured six valiant Knights who didst clash upon the field of honor. Mine own party was seated within the Black and White Knight's pavilion; alas, our champion didst fall, yet our spirits remained high. 'Tis a gathering place most fitting for the celebration of betrothals, natal days, or the marking of scholarly achievements. Though we attended for the sheer joy of the sport, I declare this venue a marvel for young squires and even those merry fellows seeking a bachelor's feast. I came here with a group of friends on a Saturday afternoon. I had never been to Medieval Times before, and admittedly, my expectations were high. The show lasted a little under two hours. During that time, you are served a multi-course meal including tomato soup, garlic bread, half of a chicken, a baked potato, a knob of corn, and a little dessert. The food (except for the dessert) was all seasoned with a bright red seasoning reminiscent of Hot Cheetos dust. It wasn't spicy, just very red. It's hard to interact with anyone beyond your immediate neighbors during the show, since you are all seated in a long row and it's not very convenient to get up or down. Our waitress was wonderful and the performers seems good, too, but I had difficultly holding my attention. I think this would be a great place if (1) you are a child, (2) you're the parent to a child, or (3) you're drunk. read more

Went for the first time in a very long time. The venue looks clean and is orderly for a dinner theater. We arrived nearly an hour early which ended up being a good idea based on the number of people that had already arrived. We ordered drinks and looked around at the souvenir areas while we waited to be let in to our seats. The process was very orderly and the staff were professional. I was very surprised by how good the food was. The chicken was tender and well seasoned as was the potato. Our server was very attentive to checking for any allergies or dietary restrictions in the group and was very informative for the folks seated next to us which had a peanut allergy in the group. The show was good. This is something I would do again for a party or group outing. One thing regarding seating. Most of the arena was theater style seats but they did have sections that were pull out dining chairs. If you have any folks in your groups of size or with mobility issues. I would recommend letting them know when you first check in so you can arrange for seating in the appropriate section. This was my first time at this iconic dinner show in Lyndhurst, and I was truly blown away! Not only was the show incredible, the food and drinks were excellent! The menu is fixed and included in the admission price. The meal starts with a very tasty tomato soup with Texas toast to dip. The main course is a surprisingly fantastic roast half chicken with corn and a seasoned potato. The chicken was moist, cooked perfectly with a delicious seasoning. It was pull-apart and had no chewy parts. It was honestly one of the best chickens I've ever had! The dessert was a small eclair. Nothing crazy, we would have liked more. Unfortunately, our waitress forgot coffee and, even after being asked twice, never brought it over. Otherwise, staff was incredible from the waitress to the bar staff. My drinks were also great and fairly priced for this type of experience. I got a mixed double cocktail with a ceramic souvenir mug for $30. I then got a second drink for $18. Overall, we loved everything. The theming, the show, the food, and the drinks! I would highly recommend this wonderful experience to anyone that loves live entertainment or medieval vibes! read more

We visited Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament recently and while the kids had a great time, the overall experience felt extremely overwhelming from start to finish. The line to get inside, the line for pictures, and even trying to find our seating created a very chaotic atmosphere. We made a reservation for 9 people but were seated for 8, which resulted in two children having to share a chair. That was disappointing and felt unfair, especially considering the cost of the experience. The show itself was entertaining and the host was very kind, but the food was just mediocre. The potato was dry, and the chicken was unevenly seasoned -- one section had an overwhelming amount of seasoning while other parts had very little. For the amount of money spent, everything felt just "okay" rather than worth the price. Leaving the venue was also stressful. Guests for the next show were entering while our crowd was trying to exit, causing everyone to crash into each other and making the experience feel even more chaotic. Overall, the kids enjoyed themselves, but as an adult, the entire experience was overstimulating and not something I would personally rush to do again. read more

The experience at Medieval Times was a total blast, largely thanks to the show being so incredibly interactive. We were seated in the Green Knight's section, and he was a powerhouse of energy--he spent the whole night engaging with his audience and making sure we were the loudest section in the arena. It's hard not to get swept up in the excitement when your knight is playing to the crowd with that much charisma; he truly made the spectacle feel personal. Watching him gallop past on those majestic horses was truly a highlight; the animals were absolutely stunning, moving with a grace and power that made the jousting feel surprisingly real and regal. The service was superb, (thanks Francis) with our server handling the "no utensils" chaos like a seasoned pro, and the food portions were frankly gigantic. I'm pretty sure they served us half a forest's worth of chicken, and by the time the potatoes hit the plate, I felt like I needed my own squire just to help me carry the leftovers out. You definitely won't leave hungry, though you might leave with a newfound respect for anyone who had to eat like a king every day. The only part of the evening that felt like a true highway robbery was the gift shop, where the souvenirs are priced at "royal treasury" levels. The plastic swords and light-up trinkets are ridiculously expensive--you'll need a small chest of gold bars if you plan on taking a piece of the Middle Ages home with you. I want here for a birthday celebration and it was pretty wild! I recommend getting there WAY early. You can't get into your seats until a certain time but parking and checking in can take a while! Parking is free! There is a lot to see beforehand and a gift shop too. The bar was very crowded and many of the QR codes were not working. It's wild to see all of this work. The actors were incredible. It takes so much skill to do all of the things they were doing while handling a horse. The food was pretty good and came out in a timely manner. Two for two! Came here for our kiddo's birthday and it did not disappoint. The food was as good (even better) as last time. Our server Olga was so amazing. She ensured that everyone in her line felt seen and taken care of; and she went above and beyond for my kiddo (my kiddo has needs, something she didn't know, but she was very observant of my kiddo and even gave him utensils when needed). An interesting experience overall seemed mainly to aim at families with kids and couples (lots of birthdays were celebrated). The performers and the energy of the crowd were great, but it wasn't quite my cup of tea. I was hoping for more emphasis on story and plot, but it leaned more toward watching the knights compete in games and challenges. The food was simple but filling. Shout out to the hawk show which was the highlight for me. Tip: Bring hand sanitizer. Medieval times has always been a family favorite, my parents use to take us when young and now we passing the torch to the next generation of my household. I went to this location for the first time in years since becoming an adult and some things are just as good as I remember while others could use some improvement. We decided to get the VIP package and celebrate big for my sister's bday. Pros: the food tastes really good (specially their tomato soup) and the portions are still decent, I couldn't finish my whole chicken lol, but they got us a to go box which was nice and convenient. You eat very well, the dessert was also pretty good, so overall you end up pretty full. You get a choice of water, lemonade or Pepsi as your drink, and free refills. The seating; obviously you want a middle section where you have the best view of the tournament but honestly, no matter where you sit, you have a pretty good view of the whole show. You get a paper crown and a little flag to wave and cheer your knight with which I think it's cute. The length of the show and the actual show is excellent, very entertaining! Pre and post show is also pretty cool, the ambiance is nice and many opportunities to take photos there, explore the little shop and get some drinks. The bathrooms are accessible and CLEAN! Our service was nice, and she was working very hard, it's always nice when the employees are attentive and kind. Now unfortunately there were some cons that were a bit annoying, and they go as followed ; The timing of the dinner vs the actual show, While I love a good dinner and a show, I found it really hard to cheer for my night and be part of the crowd as a whole while shoving corn down my throat. At times I felt like I was gonna choke while chewing on some chicken and yelling NOOO as my knight was being stabbed. So I had to choose between eating or being present. When I stopped eating and focused on the show, the rest of my food got cold ... I think the most annoying part was ordering drinks from the bar. I ordered a virgin piña colada and paid right away. Not only did my drink take soooo long to come, but it was no longer frozen, it wasn't the creamy sweet tasty drink I remember loving, instead it was syrup watered down with barely any ice, absolutely gross AND NOT CHEAP. I was so disappointed. When I got the attention of the server to possibly change my drink for anything else, she told me that the bar was backed up so they were not gonna come back in .... BUT THEY SURE took my money immediately after I first ordered so why not let me know before hand and let me decide if I still wanna order? The lady then proceeded to tell me that since they were not coming back with drinks because of their backup, I had a chance to exchange my drink if I went to the bar myself. So during this whole interaction, I had no idea my Knight was eliminated, like what? I missed it?... followed by missing even more of the show to leave the room to head to the bar to exchange the very mediocre drink I received. I love medieval times and I probably always will since it's attached to so many good memories, but little details like these, does leave me with a slight dissatisfaction. My friends and I went really hard for this. I went for a birthday and we got dressed up and everything. It was WAY more fun than I expected! You get a four-course meal, and you eat it with your hands which I didn't expect, but it gave a more " medieval times era" effect. The alcohol glasses you buy you actually get to keep! And the show is pretty interactive, as some of the audience gets to participate. This is really one of those things that it is what you make of it. It's family friendly, but it's also filled with lots of adults too. I would come back and do this experience, but not very often. It truly is an experience. My family and I was so surprised coming to Medieval Times. We had no idea! We were told to be ready and we had to head out to NJ. We are all excited but still had no idea where until I saw the castle and I froze. Like, wow! I have been wanting to come here since I was young and that wish came true. The ambiance inside the castle and the staff were so welcoming and very into their characters. It was so cool to see and experience. The concession stands had really nice items to buy and great photo ops. As we were waiting to go inside, my boys were knighted and that was so cool to see as they were having the time of their lives! As we were walking towards our section to sit down, we saw a royal falcon, which was pretty cool. As time is getting closer, we are now waiting to be seated. My family and I and everyone around us was so excited to finally go inside, sit down, and enjoy the show. We are finally in our seats excited for this moment. Our server Isaac was awesome!!!! Our party of 4, friends celebrating multiple birthdays, attended Medieval Times in Lyndhurst, NJ, last Friday. We arrived a little bit after 6pm, parked the car, and got on a line that moved very quickly to check in and be assigned our knight colors. We took a group photo (which we later purchased in a nice quality commemorative folio), and browsed all of the fun shops. Swords, daggars, crowns, goblets, statuettes, plushies... options for all. All of the staff were very nice and accommodating. We cheered for the blue knight from table 9, which provided a nice view directly across the area to the King and Queen. Our server, Hannah, was brilliant. SHe remembered all of our names and had our section cheer for our birthdays. The tomato bisque, garlic bread, and roasted chicken were delicious. I liked the potato, corn, and eclair, as well. I loved the meade we enjoyed with souvenir glasses (for an added fee). The show was fantastic! The horses appeared well cared for and were impressively trained. I loved the falconer experience. And the knights were so fun, too. My friend caught a flower from the blue knight. I enjoyed the diversity of the cast, too. After the performances, we were able to take photos with the knights and browse the shops again. We never felt rushed. I celebrated a family birthday here and I can say everyone enjoyed it! I wish I went as kid, even though I acted like one!! The staff were superb and very attentive in each section. When the food was served, everybody came out in a line like the scene from beauty and the beast. Our server, Jennifer, was THE best! Always met with a smile and cheer Now the FOOD! Eater beware, there is no utensils and everybody ate like a savage, but I'd say they aren't needed because the chicken was finger licking good, falls off the bone. The roasted chicken was by far the best I think I've ever had. Dinner started off with some nice tomato soup and a slice of garlic bread, followed by half a roasted chicken, corn on the cob, half a roasted potato, and finished with a chocolate eclair. We also got a specialty piece of cake with our celebration package upgrade. We bought a souvenir drink and a bottle of wine to enjoy the show. There is a gift shop with a bunch of cool little figurines. We ended up buying a sword in the stone. All of the merchandise was reasonable, but price expectation for an event as such reflects. Especially the swords and knives. Now for the SHOW! Everyone played their part to a T, the knights were very interactive, and obviously the queen stole the show. Definitely a unique experience that I'd recommend others to experience at least once if they have the chance. I surprised my partner with a trip here for their birthday and they absolutely loved the show from start to finish. I loved watching the show with the beautiful outfits, horses and medieval time decoration all around. It seemed well-organized and we were able to find our seats with no issues. Also, fortunately, the jousting wasn't too loud or overwhelming with sharp "cling clanging"or dragging metal sounds. The actors were great as well and it was nice seeing them have fun along the way too. Overall, we had a great time cheering for our knight and horse and the lively atmosphere made it even more fun! The ticket price is around $60-$70 per person and the experience itself is great but I do wish either the tickets cost less or the food tasted better. The food was nothing special, just a part of the overall experience. We gifted my dad tickets to Medieval Times and our family had such a fun time! We really weren't sure what to expect coming in, but were pleasantly surprised how great the experience was for all ages. We happened to be the first ones in line , which was great because the seats are first come, first serve on group sizes, so we had the best seats in the house. While the food wasn't necessarily gourmet, it was better than most amusement park food, so we couldn't complain. Our wench, Denise, was great and happy to accommodate us with utensils when we asked. Had a really good time! We were assigned to root for the green knight who ended up being evil. Show was very well done with excellent play fighting and tricks from the animals, the horses and the falcon. Food was very average. As they advertise the meal is served without utensils like in actual medieval times. The tomato soup was nice and warm. The chicken and potato were seasoned well. The dessert was a bit disappointing, a chocolate eclair. I appreciated the coffee offered at the end of the meal. In general the food was very adequate, nothing exceptional. The experience is mostly about the knights and the show. Overall had a great night! Very entertaining. This place was one of my favorite places as a little girl, and it definitely still is fun as an adult educator. The staff here are outstanding and I am floored that they take unbelievable caution with food allergies here, it was a relief to be able to enjoy a modified version of the same meal everyone else was enjoying. Excellent job by the kitchen and servers (was it the best meal i ever had? No but again the effort to make all guests comfortable was amazing). The knights are definitely the stars of the show and I was lucky enough to see my knight win! There's not a lot of other businesses that you can really compare to Medieval Times and for that reason it really stands on its own as an experience worth having at least once. It's one of the few things that can be fun for all ages. Yes it's scripted and can be a bit hokey but that's part of the entertainment. You have a mixture of people from families, school trips, to entire groups of grownups going to the extent of dressing up in their ren faire attire. Food is what you'd expect it to be when you're serving in bulk, so surprisingly good for what it is. Am I a 35 year old who has never been to Medieval Times in her life until two weeks ago? Yes. Did I make plans to spend New Year's Eve at Medieval Times because I am a tired Millennial who lives for nostalgia? Also yes. All jokes aside, I can finally say I have experienced the greatness that is Medieval Times. You know what they say: better late than never! However, my first experience here was not the best, albeit we did go during a peak holiday and I think that's why my time here was affected so much. First, the good: The show itself was fantastic, as was the food. Actually, I am quite shocked by how decent the food was. The tomato soup was alright (we didn't get much of it), but the main meal of chicken, corn, and potatoes was actually quite tasty, and there was so much of it that I could have taken an extra meal home if I wanted to. (Although the coffee at dessert time was the literal worst cup of coffee I've ever drank in my life, lol.) When I was a kid, I would have been repulsed by the notion of eating with my hands - as an adult, I was more than happy to play along. In addition, the show really was a grand time - I give the stunt actors so much credit for doing all these things on horseback, with weapons, in a sandpit. Let's all raise a pint of mead for the actors at Medieval Times, as they are often the butt of 'newly minted actor' jokes but it actually takes quite a bit of skill and finesse to pull of some of these feats! However, for all the fun and deliciousness that was the actual show, the elements surrounding it are what give me pause, and ultimately lead to a lower review. As I stated, we did attend on New Year's Eve at the last show, and my goodness, it was a full house. (Who would have thought Medieval Times would be on the list of so many people, adults and kids alike?) I completely acknowledge that the place was likely overfilled and understaffed, but that honestly played a small part of our issue. Our main problem was that we purchased VIP tickets and were not given the seats that we paid for. We paid for the Queen upgrade which specifically states 'best seats in the house,' which is described at "VIP first row in any section or 2nd row center section." When we went to sit down, our seats were in the nosebleeds - all the way up top. This is clearly not what we paid for, so my cousin (who is an assertive gay) put his foot down until someone helped us. We had to speak to three or four people before someone begrudgingly relented to sit us in a front row seat (of which there were several open set ups, mind you.) It was a little embarrassing to make a statement, but quite frankly, he was right and we did not get paid we paid for initially. The rest of the night was kind of tense after that and it did put an overall damper on our experience because we felt bad for making a scene - but again, nosebleed seats are not what you pay extra for. The other big issue was there was one one bartender for an entire section of people, and he lacked ANY sense of urgency despite the fact that it was a full house. He took his sweet time taking drink orders and did not get to us until the last 15 minutes of the show, literally. Again, we had to go up to the bar ourselves and order drinks. After speaking with the bartenders twice and insisting that the waiter was NOT getting to our table, the bar also relented and we were able to purchase a glass of wine for ourselves. I think this was a perfect storm of things that ultimately lead to our experience. I would return here again on a quieter night for the food and fun, and I would love to take my nieces and nephew here. However, the staff at Medieval Times Lyndhurst should know better when it comes to seating people for VIP. My partner recently surprised me with a trip to Medieval Times, and to say I didn't know what I was in for would be an understatement. I had only vaguely heard about it before this past weekend, so I was going in almost completely blind. To say I had the time of my life would also be an understatement. The whole experience was hilarious. A giant castle-shaped building appearing out of nowhere on the horizon. Walking in and getting a crown placed on my head. Knights! Royalty! Horses! JOUSTING?? It just kept getting better and better. I would say the food was decent, the only part of the whole night that didn't totally wow me. The servers, however, were outstanding. I was amazed watching this army of waiters feed an entire arena of people a five course meal simultaneously. A night here is perfect for anyone. I can't think of a better place to bring your kids, and it's perfect for a date night if you're the kind of people that don't take yourselves too seriously. read more
