What a great venue! Saw the Gorilla Biscuits / American Nightmare / Kill Your Idols / Desperate Measures show last night in the Black Box part of the Williams Center, and it was an excellent time. I wish this venue was closer to me, I'd be there for every hardcore show they put on. For this show there was no barricade; I don't know if that varies from one show to another, but I was happy to see the lack of a barrier when we walked in. The security was just how you want them to be at this kind of show: present and there if needed, but not getting in anyone's way or preventing people from dancing or stagediving. There are two bars in the main area of the Black Box, one at the back, one on the side. And then merch was sold upstairs, and there's another bar there. Snack machines, and candy is also sold at at least one of the bars. I paid $7 for a 12 oz. can of Miller Lite or $9 for Corona, I'm not sure what size that was, 11 or 12 oz. I guess, one of those weird tall, skinny cans. The sound quality here is excellent. They had some lights going on during the bands' sets, but nothing too showy or intrusive. Really, just all around top-quality in terms of sound, stage setup, production. All the employees I encountered were very friendly. This was a pretty big crowd; I don't know if it was sold out or not, but the place was packed by the time AN went on. Sometimes staff can be unpleasant or just generally serious, handling this many people in a theater size venue, but these folks all seemed happy to have us there. I had never heard of the Williams Center until recently, when one of my favorite bands happened to be playing in their Black Box area. The space apparently hosted everything from movies to musical acts to comedy and more. The "Black Box" room was an intimate, open rectangle next to a more formal theater space with tiered row seating. There were merch tables and two bars set up around the perimeter with general admission standing room in the center leading up to the stage. The sound quality was spectacular, and it was nice to be right in the middle of the action. I would definitely see another show there. read more

First the bad news. Our tickets were for a show in the theater portion and they said the show started at 8:00. When we got there we were informed that the doors opened at 8:00. When the doors opened at 8:00 we then had to stand around in an area that had in old times been where the balcony areas had been; this area was flat and we had to stand while waiting another 30 minutes before being able to go to the seats. Then the show actually started at 9:00. That said, the staff was friendly and maybe the show was late because of an unplanned delay on the part of the performers who had rented out the theater? Also, there was a bar in the "waiting" area that was open when we entered at 8:00. Now, the theater itself. On the one hand I had the immediate impression it needed to be knocked down; In other words, it is a very old theater that clearly had been through it and is early days into a renovation process. Once they complete the renovation (if it is, in fact, a work in progress)it could be very beautiful, possibly. In its current state, however, it seems a bit apocalyptic. The sound system. Let me say this, just because you have lots of new speakers doesn't mean you have to use them all at a high volume. I would like to suggest to the managers that they buy a couple of sound level meters and have a staff member or two check the decibel levels at various spots throughout the theater. Don't allow this to be a matter of opinion by whomever the the shot-caller is in the theater on any given night. In other words, way too loud. And this is coming from someone who doesn't have particularly good hearing; it is even worse now. To add another positive; it appears the management allowed the show to run longer than the normal 10:00 in order for the performers to "catch-up." All that said, other than wishing I'd brought ear plugs, it was a good experience with good staff and a good show. read more

Shout out to the Williams Center for giving me a private screening. I showed up for a viewing of Alice, Sweet Alice , a feature film at the Cinema Underground . And somehow I was the only guest to show up! A little creepy watching a horror movie by myself in the basement but an great experience none the less. Thanks again WC! read more

My friend and I found out about this place through meet up. They started doing art house movies on Tuesday nights this week, and we went tonight to go see the Greek film, Dogtooth. First of all, the film was hilarious, and definitely off the cuff. I highly suggest watching it if you like, psychological, crazy films. Although if it had a rating, it would be R. Upon my arrival to the center, I was greeted by its new owners. Both were very nice gentleman, and one gave me a tour of the theater. Although the theater is under construction right now, it looks to be a beautiful and elegant building. Once it is Finished with construction, I'm sure it will look great. I thought the art house movies was a great idea to hold in this old theater. Definitely a different and fun night out! read more

PROS: This place was a beautiful theatre. It had a stage with standing room, a stage with seated room, and another stage at the back of the building. The place was clean and spacious as well CONS: The ceiling is in desperate need of renovation (as shown in my pics) and theres limited parking on the street. Finally the heart of town has been reborn. Packed with things to do & shows to see, one can't get bored here. The staff are super friendly and polite. We love the ice cream shop & record store. Playing foosball is a blast. I hope this place thrives forever. Big fan. read more

The Williams Theater is hosting events that's creating problems and making the town look extremely bad. There have been non stop physical fights, and attendees are causing problems at local stores. Families with their kids can no longer sit or even walk through the Theater plaza, especially at night. Petitions are being started to put a stop to this nonsense. We don't want this in our town!!!!!! read more

What a cute little movie theater in a great location in Rutherford. It's small but not over crowded whatsoever. The ticket prices are $10.00 for an adult on a Saturday night which is a great deal. The staff is friendly and helpful. The theater is well kept and clean. I can't say how the popcorn was but the snack selection is decent. Overall, I had a great experience and would recommend. read more

What an enjoyable day I had at the Williams Center! For those of you who may not know of its existence this building has provided multiple entertainment features throughout its decades long history with live music , theatre performances , school fundraising events and even a still active movie theatre in the basement. Sadly though this location will most likely be closing its doors due to the greed and "demand" of housing that seems to plague almost every New Jersey town... Fortunately though i'm lucky enough to know a friend in the music scene who not only set up this fundraiser for the Williams Center that included live music , drinks and snacks and local Art from around the New Jersey area but also included a time slot towards the end for the local children in the area to sing on stage their favorite songs over the DJ play mix. I'm sure all the families enjoyed this experience as well as the kids involved in what is now looking like a near post COVID outdoor experience. I'm sure there are more events to come in this form but it may be a last for this performing arts center unless a wave of luck will hit its stride read more

What a terrific little theater. We saw Pacific Rim Uprising here its opening weekend--the screen was bigger than I expected, with digital projection. The audio was loud. The space was super clean and the seats comfy. And while it's not stadium seating, the angle of the floor is steep enough to make it close. $10 tickets, less for kids and seniors, and you can buy online through their website with no fee. Aside from the actual theaters, the concession stand was solid, and there are a bunch of tables to hang around at before or after a movie. And I think they rent out theaters for things like kid's birthday parties. If I lived around here, I'd skip the bigger theaters nearby and just come here all the time. read more

This is essentially an architectural "wrapper" for the old Rivoli theater, which apparently was a 1920's vaudeville stop for Abbott & Costello and the Glen Miller Orchestra. The Wife and I took in a showing of "Coraline" at the cinema attached to this center, and after the show we explored the old Rivoli. It must have been something in the twenties. We could see the beautiful chandelier, the woodwork, the outlines of the old dimensions. Sadly, we could also see where the other fixtures are now missing, and how time and consequent ownership have changed its character. Still, the potential for greatness here exists. We could see how easily the venue might be transformed into an elegant cocktail lounge for local gatherings, and certainly the theater itself is not far from being restored if that were financially viable. As for the movie theaters, a decidedly add-on and impromptu look about it, definitely low-rent, but clean screening rooms and excellent sound make it a sleeper pick for seeing a movie away from the multiplex crowd. Definitely a location we'll be returning to see. read more

Been coming here I was a little girl. I even worked here while I was in high school. The theaters are small but the price is cheap. I find this place to always be empty so crowds are usually not a problem. I am sure to keep coming back for years to come. Staff is young and should always be that way. The theater has a small budget but I love it anyway. read more

This is a small cozy well priced movie theater. The popcorn was fresh, the service was super friendly and the new digital screen made the experience wonderful. It's like a home movie theater because the amount of people that fit. It was really perfect watching Beauty and the Beast with the kids. Any seat is perfect because it's very cozy. I'm planning and going there from now on and not dealing with the hustle and bustle of other places. This theater sometimes comes up as Center Cinema when your looking for showtimes on google, so be aware that it's this place. We all have to support town movie theaters because the experience is quite lovely and we wouldn't want to loose this theater to the big chain theaters. read more

I go here mainly for the movies. It's a good bet when you want to go local and save a few bucks. The concession stand is pretty good too. Been to a few kids' birthday parties and for the 8 and under set, it's worth it. I do think the place could use a facelift, though. read more

I had gone to the cinemas to see glass for my friends birthday I'm gotta say we were loud at first but when we were asked to quiet down we had done so.After the movie I had to go to the restroom so my friends come with.I found this very inappropriate that she(a worker of sort)had followed us into the bathroom say"When are you guys going to grow up"and "we won't be giving you popcorn next time you come","I remember your faces from last time"which was April of 2018.I don't understand why she was speaking to us because we may of dropped a couple pieces of popcorn and it's a movie theater get used to it they is going to be some mess no need to yell at us like we are 5 years old. read more

I take my niece here to watch movies when I don't feel like driving her all the way to Clifton. The theater is small and often not very well cleaned but it's not really dirty and does the job of showing a movie. I did have one time where the movie was half off the screen for awhile before I had to personally go out there and ask someone to fix it. I was a bit disappointed that they wouldn't start the movie anew... They apparently have a church here too though I can't imagine where they would have service unless it was in the grand stage, but I think the place burned or something when I was younger. Overall, it's not bad. You pay a small price and get the movie you want in a theater and then afterward, you can hit up any of the local restaurants by simply walking there and it won't be too crowded or packed. This place is great to take young kids to. read more

This is a great theater! Small, yes, but not crowded and overloaded with people. Good sound and picture quality especially considering its size. A great place to take the kids. It's quaint, and the prices are reasonable...even refreshments! Yes, they do have high school kids working the stands but they are clearly working to save for college. I've had birthday parties there and all the workers were great! Definitely try it for quality and price! read more
