Be careful with the 5 stars reviews, something is wrong with them, it is like they have paid or given a discount for people to write them. Read TrustPilot, and other reviews about the company in general. I did not do that, and gave away my money for almost 1 year to these scammers. Be careful, they will try to use aftermarket parts and will want to charge you an extra deductible if demanding OEM parts. A job that without insurance would have costed $1950, my deductible was $1000, and they agreed to use OEM parts only after forcing me to pay an extra $400. So essentially I paid $1400 deductible for a $1950 job. What low pieces of scum. You learn by experience. Moving to Progressive, saving $100 a month and getting $500 deductible instead of $1k. read more

I was a 32 year State Farm customer and had a claim with State Farm for a roof on my house. I had several types of significant damage to my roof, and it took having my roofing company taking pictures all over the roof to get State Farm to honor the claim. My roof was wood, and the repair was going to be over $60,000. I agreed to a lesser composition roof (About $46,000) as I liked the look better and there would be fewer insects. As it turned out the $44,000ish roof was not available, but they found a different composition roof for $32,000ish. I wasn't excited about it, but the adjuster committed to paying me the difference between the $44,000 and $32,000 roofs. ($12,000). Committed in verbally and in writing. When the job was completed they refused to pay. I was shocked that a large company would do this to a 32 year policy holder. "Like a good neighbor"......I don't think so. read more

I have multiple cars, multiple houses and other insurance with statement for over 50 years and have never filed a claim. Recently, my parked car was hit by a school bus. I contacted my agent for help and how should I proceed to fix my car and file a claim. The agent indicated that I have to talk to State farm call center and not they are not able to help me. They then quickly transfer me to state farm call center. I asked the call center for help and they said that to enlist their help, I have to pay the deductible regardless if I can at fault or not. I said if it turns out that it is not my fault, will I get my deductible back. Statefarm replied that I will not. I tried to ask more questions for help and they pretty much indicated that if I don't agree to pay the deductible, I am on my own. Fortunately, I was able to use AI for advice to get my car repaired. I am extremely disappointed that when I need their help, they are "not there". read more

The claims process with State Farm is completely unfair. I was rear-ended by one of their insured drivers while slowing down to safely turn into my home. Despite this, I was told by their agent that I am partially at fault. Their reasoning? A so-called "witness" who was driving behind the insured (and could not have possibly seen what actually happened) claimed otherwise. The reality is simple: I was slowing down for a legitimate reason, and their driver was following too closely and not paying attention. I cannot control that. Yet, instead of holding their driver accountable, State Farm is trying to minimize what they pay by blaming me. I will never use State Farm, and I will warn everyone I know to stay away. My family has had an extremely distressing experience with State Farm, and I feel obligated to warn others. On November 9, my 82-year-old uncle, a Vietnam War veteran, was the driver and legal owner of his vehicle when we were involved in a T-bone car accident. The airbags deployed, and the vehicle was totaled. State Farm accepted the total loss and took ownership of the vehicle. State Farm issued a payout to my uncle for his totaled car -- and then reversed the payment, withdrawing the money from his bank account. This action overdrew his account, leaving an 82-year-old man with no funds for a replacement vehicle and no money to cover his basic bills. I am now trying to help him cover expenses because of State Farm's reversal. We have been trying to resolve this since November 9, with no resolution. On top of this, my medical bills from the same accident have still not been paid, and there has been little to no assistance or communication. An insurance company should not be causing financial harm to an elderly customer, especially after a finalized total-loss settlement. Reversing a payment and overdrawing an 82-year-old veteran's bank account is unacceptable. 3 months ago a Lyft driver merged into me on the expressway. We pulled over and exchanged insurance information. I wasn't really concerned because he hit me, we were both covered by statefarm, and my car did not have any damage. He had a scratch on his rear passenger door. Within 5 minutes I received a text from statefarm that the other driver filed a claim against me. I immediately pulled over and called statefarm. I told them what had actually happened and that I would testify in court if needed that this was insurance fraud. On top of that the other driver claimed I had rear ended him. Two weeks later after not hearing anything , I called statefarm. They informed me that I was at fault. When I pointed out that he claims I rear ended him, and the damage was on his left side passenger door, the claims rep paused and said...'off the record you're screwed. The other driver is a Lyft driver and due to state farms relationship, they virtually always find in favor of the Lyft driver. I was shocked. I have been a statefarm customer my whole life And in over 40 years of driving have never had an accident or insurance claim. Called my agent and he agreed there was no evidence whatsoever that the accident was my fault And that he would do everything he could to straighten it out. One month later, I get a letter from statefarm. Not about the accident, bur cancelling my 16 year daughters car insurance the reason given was that she had rear ended someone six months ago, and with a second claim against my policy (the fraudulent claim from the Lyft driver being the second) she was being cancelled. Bottom line is there is nothing I can do...I'm screwed. So after 43 years of statefarm auto, renters, and home owners insurance, I need to go shopping for a new insurance provider. All because of a fraudulent claim against me, and an unwritten rule to protect their Lyft contract. Like a good neighbor, statefarm says screw you!! But least they did it with a smile on their face. Oh by the way, the reason I was on the expressway is because I had recently been diagnosed with cancer and was getting a second opinion that day. A lot of the major insurance companies commissioned a company called Mckinsey & Company to evaluate how they could make more money. They allegedly came back with "Deny, Delay, Confuse, Refuse," and "Deny till they Die!" A far cry from those wonderful commercials we all see!! I was recently in Palm Desert, CA, and had one of their insured back into my truck as I was leaving a Starbucks. He apologized, then gave me his "expired" State Farm Insurance Card, but said he didn't have his license on him. He gave me his business card for Backstage Wigs & Salon West, with his name stated as Greg Slough. I drove home and reported the accident to my insurance company. After some investigating, I was told by State Farm that he never reported the accident, and that they couldn't find him for comment. I sent them the picture below showing them that his Wig Store is right next to the State Farm Office! All the agent would have to do is walk next door!! So I had my truck fixed, and I am still trying to get someone from State Farm to reimburse me. I believe they got their monies worth from Mckinsey & Company!!! UPDATE: State Farm has accepted 100% of my claim for physical damages to my vehicle caused by their insured client. But they have refused to settle my claim for "Diminished Value" (DV) to my vehicle (without proper explanation) because it now has an accident listed against the VIN number. I always thought the purpose of having car insurance was to have damages covered in the event of an accident. My Honda Civic only sustained partial bumper damage, yet I was told it's "totaled and can't be fixed" due to the age of the vehicle." What was the point of me paying insurance every month? I would understand this logic if the vehicle was severely damaged however, that was not the case for my car. To make matters worse, the towing process was a nightmare. When I called State Farm after the accident, they sent a third-party vendor to tow my car. But when I tried to check on the towing status, I was told they couldn't locate my claim in the system. Then they canceled the tow altogether because the vendor they dispatched "does not handle accidents". Why would an auto insurance company list a towing option that can't handle accidents? He keeps threatening to retract the first offer if I don't take it and then I won't get anything. I have full coverage so I call GEICO they say because it's a total loss I have to work with State Farm. She was texting and driving and totaled my lifted Tahoe with a 2014 accord. They low ball offered and then he threatened for the offer to go away he felt it was too much. Maybe for your current salary but not mine bud. A qualified roofer with 20 year experience, who had replaced 5 roofs in my neighborhood, detailed 20 cases of hail damaged shingles. State Farm denied my claim, saying the leak was not related to the hail damage. The stupid thing is that my roof replacement wasn't that expensive and it would have only cost SF a few thousand dollars and I have already spent that much at my new company on premiums. We got hit in a auto accident they other driver had progressive insurance but was under insured. Eventually we had to use our insurance which is Statefarm our truck was already at the shop for repairs and was tore down and waiting on clearance from the insurance companies. Due to the vehicle already not being at one of state farm 's preferred "insurance providers " they refused to pay for the extra costs they felt were not necessary even though it was all documented. We had to come out of pocket for the extra 2000 dollars even though they only had to pay for a portion of the repair that progressive paid the majority of and had accepted at legitimate costs. On top of the vehicle damage my wife was injured in the accident and despite having to get a lawyer they are still dragging their feet on those claims. Refusing call backs and more red tape delays! We pay extra for UMI insurance. Statefarm does not honor their contracts or provide the service they claim on all their dumb commercials! I acquired a State Farm policy because I assumed that a company that had been around for long obviously had satisfied customers. That was a very bad assumption that I have learned from. It was only after I had an unexpected incident that, after State Farm decided not to pay, I found out they are notorious for weaseling their way out of paying claims for any little reason, even an honest mistake on the customer's part. I had a renter's insurance policy with them. I paid the entire year upfront. About four months into it, I was burglarized. I notified the police and State Farm. They decided to look into my history for any reason to get out of paying. About 2 or 3 years prior, I had filed a claim with another car insurance company when my car was broken into while parked on the street. That car insurance company simply informed me it wasn't covered by my car insurance policy, so I thought, okay, I will take the loss. They said I did not mention this claim and that's why they decided to not pay me, because had they known about it, they wouldn't have covered me. The reason I didn't mention it was because the claim was canceled by the company, or so I thought, because it didn't even qualify as a car insurance claim in the first place. My point is, at the end of the day, State Farm cannot be trusted. I will never, under any circumstance, have another policy again and I recommend anyone and everyone against getting one. read more

My name is Shane Elam and I live in Indiana. in April 2025 we had a tornado go through and tore part of my roof off and then the ceilings started leaking. State Farms adjuster came out and estimated the repairs at $7500.00 minus my deductible of $4400.00. So they cut me a check for that and closed the claim. I have had multiple quotes (5 exactly) and the cheapest was around $16,000.00 and the highest was just below $29,000.00.
