Went and got my 2011 jeep smog checked. The next time I started my car up (the next day) the check engine light came on. Had it checked and the code is for emissions. When I had it checked the guy acted like he was having a hard time using the computer which looking back I should have said something then. I go back to him so I could ask what was done and what did he hook his system up to and was treated rudely. I asked if he hooked it up to a computer, he said "NO" did he check any sensors "NO" everything was no. All I wanted to do is know what was done and checked so I could tell the mechanic I have to take my car too what was done. He DOES hook up a computer and DOES check sensors incase you didnt know, so I was being lied too. If I could I would give Negative stars. I regret going here and hope this will help you look elsewhere to get you car checked. read more

Great place, great guy! No wait. Jason greeted me with a great big smile that was infectious, that I was in twice the good mood that I was already in. Told him I need my first smog test and got right to it. He was very polite, asked how my day was, and we had a good small conversation for length of the process. Quick and easy. Let me know that I pass, and the results were send electronically to the DMV (which funny enough one of the branches is right across the street). I will be coming back for any and all of my cars. Got here at 10AM on Sunday as their website states that's when they open. It was all locked up, so we waited around 15 minutes or so. We called, no answer. We then confirmed with the car wash that the smog place is in fact supposed to be open at 10-- yup. Finally we decided to grab a quick breakfast and come back a few minutes later. We get back, yay they've opened! But now there's a 45 minute wait. Additionally, they refused to honor their online coupon on weekends (even though the coupon does NOT state ANY restrictions) and instead charged us an extra $10 for the Sunday test. They then proceeded to charge another $10 extra claiming our Wrangler is a truck-- never been charged for it being a truck in the 10+ years it's been in California. All in all it came to about $70. We usually pay around $35. Lastly, there was a young kid running around, 10ish, presumably the owners kid? He was riding his bike around the lot, etc. He wasn't disruptive, but it's just not really a safe place for kids to hang out? Also not safe and unappealing was the smoking of cigarettes in the garage by employees while they were operating the equipment. On the bright side the long wait gave me plenty of time to draft this review! In conclusion, if you need a Sunday smog check the options are limited. My advice is to get it done elsewhere. No frills, but still nicer (and cheaper) than some smog places that I've been to. Used the coupon from the Pennysaver... I believe the same coupon is available online, but be aware it's not valid on wkends! The owner is friendly enough and there is plenty of comfortable seating in the waiting area. read more

BEWARE! This place has a new owner! Patrick Shanazari and his son. . I had a smog check done yesterday evening....I forgot to give the son the printed coupon that was in my car. I went back this morning at 8am, wasn't open..finally opened after 9am. He refused to honor it, after I showed evidence on my phone that I received and printed the $30 off coupon on 2/29/20. He didn't dispute that! Please! Don't get ripped off like me! When I checked my receipt, they raised prices 26% from last time I used them ( that was without a coupon). I was charged $80 this time. I had been going here for years and was always treated fair. Not having to haggle or print some coupon to be charged a fair price. If you go to their own website, they advertise a $30 off special coupon that you have to present before a price quote. The website does not have a starting price list. Wouldn't surprise me if you presented their coupon or a competitors then their price would raise accordingly. You're dealing with place with a deceptive name to start! It's called "State Smog Test Center" right across the street from the Santa Clarita DMV! If you are an honest businessman, would you not try to give your customers the best price? read more

This was the second time that Fred smog checked my 1987 Honda Prelude. He is very organized and does a thorough job. He really cares about his customers while ensuring that the engine operates in full compliance with the state requirements. His shop is clean and his workflow is effective and efficient. He is a people's person and likes to talk. He is upfront and gives you a discount if you are nice! The shop is "Star Certified," which is great for an old car like mine that every other year is always "randomly" selected for a "test only" smog check! :-D BTW, he likes pets, too. The shop has a beautiful, resident black kitten that he rescued a few months ago from her unloving mother and siblings, which were abusive! read more

Called at 3:30 on a Sunday. Hours are specifically stated until 5pm. He gave me the loooooooongest sob story of the time and effort it would take to smog my '84 Mercedes. And I'm better off coming Monday-Friday or early on a Saturday. Maybe change your hours like the rest of the places to either be closed on Sundays or close early. Don't lead people on by having a 5pm close time. Rude rude man. read more

Jan. 3, 2020. Drove over to their Lyons Avenue Smog Test Station. Andy approached me and asked for my DMV Smog Request form. He drove my car into the test station and invited my wife and myself into their waiting room. It took about 15-20 minutes; our Hyundai had passed the test. Hooray!! Andy is a true gentleman. Very helpful and he answered all my questions. We have been coming to this testing station for the past ten years and will continue. The cost was reasonable and Andy did an excellent job in caring for our car and both of us. After the test, Andy backed my car up and turned it around making it easier to drive out of the station. I took my car to this place for a smog check on Sunday. It's one of the only places open n a Sunday. Their website lists the price for a smog check online as $21.50. I told them this when I got there and they said that's not right but they lost the code to change it online. The smog check ended up being about $35 after the DMV registration which is usually $9 extra anyways so it wasn't much more than listed. The guy was pretty quick about everything and personable. There were a few workers hanging out and everyone seems pretty professional. Overall, I'd go back again for my next smog. read more
