After living in Yucaipa/Calimesa for years and moving to Michigan, I absolutely MISS Stater Bros. The stores are immaculate clean even if people have complained of some.. the staff is helpful & friendly, the meat department is exceptional and I HOPE they DO NOT switch to self-checkout !!!! The stores here have and I HATE IT and compared to Stater Bros, they are filthy . MISS STATER BROS !!! Checkers are so slow. You know when you walk into a place and first thing you do is check who is working the register. The same ladies who stand around and do nothing but talk. Stop talking and ring people up. People have things to do and they don't want to hear your sorry life problems. That's right, register as in 1. They have at least 8 lanes and always just 1 open. I've walked out a couple times because it wasn't worth it. They rather stock shelves or sweep the floor or talk about the schedule and breaks then take my money. I always wonder that. Shouldn't you help people spend money instead of make it difficult for them to pay? Anyways, just go to Cherry Valley location. Hope the workers don't relocate after this one closes. Didn't appreciate the customer service experience when I was waiting in line for a return on an unused product bought same day just a few hours before just because it pertained to alcohol. She called me out in line and stated that they don't accept returns for anything relating to alcohol in a very stern and unsympathetic manner. The line all starred and looked at me, making it awkward. The bottle was simply way too far overpriced and the discount ticket initially misled me as a customer. Not buying that type of product here again and will avoid shopping at this local store. I should add that they didn't ask for ID either given it was expensive alcohol, yet I get asked at the majority of stores I shop at frequently including this very location for cheaper alcoholic products. read more

First and foremost, the staff at this Stater Brothers bakery are absolutely amazing. On Saturday June 28th 2025 I walked in, slightly in a panic realizing it may not be possible for anyone to create this cake for my daughter's birthday with such short notice. Kristy was BEYOND amazing, took time with me, even though there was a line, she was calm, courteous, and confident she could get this done by Sunday morning. I walked in at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, to Kristy and the rest of the bakery staff's big smiles, and the cake I was shown blew me away. It was better than the picture that I showed them. The smile on my daughter's face when she saw this beautiful cake was priceless. I don't write reviews, but this individual and team deserve the recognition. I went in Halloween night to return some caramel candy that was on clearance, however candy wouldn't come off the wrapper. Nikki, the cashier, decided to launch a full investigation. She asked me if I had a receipt? I said I didn't think to bring it. It has the big red sticker showing how much I paid. She starts to tell me all the information that is on a receipt. Mind you, I'm a grown adult familiar with receipts. She then asks me what day I bought this $2 candy. I said a couple of days ago. She asks which day? My blood is starting to boil. I say today is Friday, so that makes it Wednesday. She tells me she doesn't know if her manager will refund me. I do not respond. I continue to put my Mt.Dew on the counter. She calls the manager & says I've never had ANYONE return something from CLEARANCE. Is there a different procedure? Mind you, she never asked the manager if she could refund me. She tells me twice that she took the $2 off my tab. I guess she wanted to be thanked for disrespecting me. I said okay, so she would hopefully drop the issue. She had 2 co-workers watching her act superior to me. I finally have everything, getting ready to leave & she says In the future ..... I cut her off. Shook my finger at her and said I can't believe you're STILL TALKING about a $2 return. You are anal !!! She's on a POWER TRIP with her inquisition for a $2 store credit. Came to Stater Brothers today, they usually have the friendliest cashier that acknowledges you, came to this one cashier with first name starting with D did not even say hi, or thank you when I finished paying. Props to her lead for noticing the line was long and had me go to express lane since it was open. The person who helped bag my groceries was very friendly and helpful. I am pregnant and woke up craving sushi. Went to staters bright and early for an avocado roll. The sushi chef was there and starting his day. I asked if there would be avocado rolls soon and he made me one fresh while I did my shopping! It was incredibly delicious. Best sushi around and so affordable. It takes a lot for me to write a review, whether good or bad. This just needs to be done today. This stores meat department has gone from good to terrible. I will not come here again. The meat department manager is the most uncooperative and dismissive person I've met in your store. He clearly does not know how to provide customer service and even worse I feel like I'm bothering him during our interactions. When he tries to choose a piece of meat, you would think he would do his best to choose the best you have available in the cut that is being requested. But he does the opposite and acts like nothing is wrong and that he would take that piece of meat home to his family. I clearly know better than that. I guess I will just drive the extra five minutes to go to the Cherry Valley Boulevard location and get superior customer service and selection from a meat department that is interested in customer satisfaction. read more

Today I was at the store because I saw some digital deals, once I approached the cashier my number didn't come up, my friend who was in front of me also tried her number and it was the something her number didn't come up. the cashier looking annoyed didn't bother to assist even when we asked for help she just responded I don't know. what kind of customer service training this people are getting ? it is upsetting, if your machines are not working then don't have this type of digital deals. it is clearly your workers do not want to be bothered at all. I could have sworn I did a review for this store several years ago? Or did it get removed like the other nearby business because I simply stated my opinion and what I felt was truthful "At the time"? They really need to carefully examine each request(s) to delete reviews by other people, keep in mind, when they dislike a review -that it was written "several years ago" & require person/or owner to write the reviewer & request it be removed, just for the reviewer to go back, give it an fair chance to be completely honest and non biased. I would have done that & retract my past review. Sadly it's just not going to happen because there's no such thing as free speech anymore. My review being now is that I have had good recent shopping experiences here. I always loved Stater Brothers, quality, great prices & variety of selection more than Ralph's & Vons put together. And I don't think my past review (I definitely remember writing one for this location) wasn't really negative, shouldn't have been taken as reflection of market itself. Two stars is because I found what I came for. From there it's the same issues that has gone on for a long time as seen in other posts. That would be customer service. It's good to see the co workers getting along with each other but to carry on a conversation among themselves without even acknowledging the customer at the register is pretty insulting. As usual the scenario of this visit was the checker talking with the bagger talking about another employee and the fact that he didn't have to work his full shift the night before. You know what as a customer....I don't care. Carry on the conversation on YOUR time in the break room and focus on the customers who come in and actually would appreciate a simple "hello, how are you". I will say thank you like three times during the visit I don't get one single response back. The cash register worker was so rude to this elderly lady in front of me. I'm from out of town but this store allowed a man to enter the store without a mask. He was in front of me in line with no mask. No one told him anything. The cashier was wearing a mask but didn't ask the man to put one on. The cashier (without gloves) touched the items the mask-less man touched and then did not sanitize his hands before handling my items. I am disgusted. This store is a bust. There's never any staff after 8pm working the checkout lines and those stocking shelves don't seem to know where any products are. I am sure they don't, as they restock them, but they gave an attitude which isn't anywhere near customer service. Unfortunately the same can be said for other staff, bar the more senior managers who seem to be resigned to slovenly attitudes and sloth-like work pace. I shop here because I live near by. My problem is, the clerks visit and converse with each other instead of paying attention to the customers. 4 clerks having a conversation tonight about how there should be a pumpkin carving contest. Great. When is it? Id love to go so I can intrude on their personal time for once. I just want my groceries and i want to get in and get out. Staters used to have decent meat prices. Not anymore! Ever since the new CEO took over, no more meat sales . Nothing less than 5.99/lb. Today I got a flyer in the mail advertising Rib Eye for 5.99. Went down to Calimesa Staters and had them cut a 2 lb steak. It rang up at 8.99/lb. I asked the butcher about the sale, he said it only exists at the Oak Glen store! I looked at the ad when I got home, nowhere does it say it that. Ever since jack brown left managing staters these dirtbag greedy supermarket execs he hired have ripped off the loyal stater customers. I am a long time resident of Calimesa been going to this store for years but the customer service is horrible and has been going down for a while. This morning I got in line at a register. The cashier did not greet me, she immediately started ringing up my groceries, and all the while was talking to another coworker who got in line behind me, it wasn't until she realized I still hadn't paid for my groceries did finally told me the amount. I thought wow really....she had a smirk on her face and we had words she thanked me for " making her day" why do Staters Bros employees act like the customer owes them something? from now on I think I will go to Vons it may be out of the way but at least they are nice. This is the worst Stater's in the area. I only go here if in a pinch because it is so close to my house. They don't offer a lot of options as far as baked goods and deli items go. The Stater's on Beaumont Ave has way more available. The customer service is pretty bad also and you are the one that usually has to greet the cashier, who will totally ignore you. The night crew is worse. All they talk about is partying with each other while they ring you up. If you can, pick a different branch. read more

This Stater Bros market has chased me back to Subway! The service was horrible. Although there were two people there, they were too busy to take my order, even though I was the only customer at the counter, and then when one of them decided to help me, it was done so with attitude. I actually felt guilty for bothering them. Subway, I'm sorry for turning my back on you. Please take me back. I've now realized the er of my ways. I promise to never turn my back on you again. The Best Customer Service today!! I had just exited the store with a full cart of groceries. I am 70 years old and have COPD. By the time I reached my car, I was out of breath... I opened my car to unload the groceries and had to pause to breathe...just then one of the courtesy clerks from Stater Bros approached me and asked if I needed assistance...I gladly accepted, and he insisted that I get in my car, start it and turn on the air. I told him I just needed to use my inhaler, after I did he asked if it was helping me breath, and he kept talking to me as he finished loading my groceries into my car.. His conversing with me helped calm me down, and by the time he finished unloading the groceries, I was back to breathing fairly normally.... Thank you again Nolan for being one of the most courteous and concerned courtesy clerks I have encountered. read more

I am really pleased with the selection of vegan products. I can find more vegan choices here than I can at specialty stores in the area. I never have a long wait in the checkout and the clerks are super friendly. Last time I was in a lovely girl offered to get me a basket when she noticed my arms were full of items. There is never an issue with this place getting annoyingly busy, even with it being a smaller location. It has been remodeled a bit with nice refrigeration units surrounding the perimeter of the store. It's located in a sleepy area of town. The staff and store patrons are friendly. This makes for a nice safe place to make a pit-stop off of the 10 freeway in the Calimesa area. Freeway access = Close easy freeway access.
