The portions are super generous, which we really appreciated, and our server was fantastic and took great care of us. I ordered the Veggie Hashbrown Platter and it was so good, full of flavor and the eggs cooked exactly how I like them. It came with a side, and I chose the small pancake, which ended up being way bigger than I expected, basically the size of the plate. It honestly made my morning. My husband got the Two Eggs, Hash Browns & Meat and was really happy with his meal too. He went with bacon as his choice of meat. I had the strawberry rhubarb and the blueberry and both had a perfect crust and amazing filling. The food was great besides the hashbrowns being a little undercooked, others wise it was good. The service however was not so great. Not sure how it works there but our server did not check on us once after we got our food. I watched her look at our table, didn't ask if we needed anything, like a box, and she just walked away. It's a diner, for better or worse. The food is fine, nothing is great or terrible and not over/under priced. The coffee is strong. Breakfast is best. It's at its best before 8am, when all the local regulars are in trading stories about the good ol days and the waitresses know everyone's name. I was just there a coupld of days ago. The waitress was incredibly rude. She acted like my mom and I should have known the menu by heart before getting there, and the waitress sighed and huffed when we didn't have a selection right away. She never told us about specials or recommended anything, just acted like we were a huge bother in the less than one third occupied restaurant more than two hours before they were set to close. I had a coupon for 1/2 off of an entree with another entree and two drinks purchased. When the waitress brought the drinks, one had a straw that was obviously crushed and bent several times, while the other drink didn't have a straw at all. She never brought usable straws. The club sandwich had chunks of processed turkey and ham, and my mom had to ask for mayo. My rueben had a tiny amount of corned beef, but a lot of grease. The fries we both got as sides were ok. The vegetable, which I thought I would have preferred, was peas on Tuesday--thankfully the waitress did mention that. There wasn't any coleslaw offered as a side, which I thought was odd especially since fish and chips is on their menu. We did opt for pie, which I thought might redeem the restaurant, but it didn't. My mom did like her lemon meringue choice well enough, but the custard pie was inedible. I was hoping the custard pie would be like chess pie, but it wasn't sweet. It was mealy and grainy at the same time. The crust was super soggy. I left it, and the unattentive waitress didn't care. When the waitress brought the check, I noticed that they didn't even actually take off 50% of the lower priced entree. So much for the coupon--maybe they're just bad at math. For the two entrees, two soda pops, and two slices of pie, with the underused coupon and tip, I paid about $50, which is a rip off. In any case, I'll never go back. read more

Have eaten here several times when I return to Lincoln. Always enjoyed the great good and excellent staff. Tried it again the other day and it was HORRIBLE!! Had a "chicken fried steak" that was horrible!!! It was frozen and small!!! Then I tasted the "green bean casserole" which was always great. YECH!! Took 2 bites and that was it. A friend ordered a pancake....it was burned on the outer edges. The remark was terrible!!! And this USED to be his favorite place to eat. We took a chance and had a piece of pie. It was ok but not great. I understand the place has a new owner. That might explain the change of quality. I know I won't be eating here ever again. read more

Consistently consistent. Servers are fantastic and have been there for years and years. Breakfast is my favorite meal at Stauffer's, followed closely by lunch. If you want straight up classic American food this is your place! House made hash browns and beautiful cinnamon rolls get things started in the morning. Egg combos, pancakes, bacon or sausage, all the usuals are there. Great coffee! Nice omelettes are also featured in the all-day breakfast service. The rest of the menu includes great house made soups, fresh salads, and all the basics. Hot beef or turkey sandwich, meatloaf, basic burgers and daily features. Something for everyone here. Pie is what they're known for and with good reason. The variety of offerings daily is incredible. My personal favorite is the hot apple dumpling. Consistency. Stauffer's is a down home friendly kinda place. Always greeted with a smile and a how are you today as we are being seated. We are regulars every Saturday for breakfast and truly enjoy the service and the food. They have a great selection for breakfast and will make other things if asked to. I hoped for the best but expected the worst. After waiting 45 minutes my girlfriends and My lunch were cold , burnt, and server brought out dessert, 2 pieces of pie that looked like had been baked 2 weeks ago. The pie filling ran out from the crust leaving a hollow Void. The wait staff reheated all food . One extreme to another, as All food looked as if had Heated with a blow torch. After all food ( DARE I CALL WHAT REMAINED FOOD) was brought to the table a second time and the Owner walked over to table , shook my hand and said " enjoy your meal" . I would give it another 1/2 star if I could. I've been a couple of times. I really like the first time I went and I had the roast beef melt. It was really good. We had fried mushrooms for an app and great as well. I also had a bite of a patty melt, which was also great. We We also took home a caramel apple pie that was amazing. The second time we went, I had chicken fried steak. It was just ok. I tried a bite of something else, but it was forgettable enough that I don't remember what it even was. I ordered some pecan pie and the inside was like a bread pudding consistency and not good. It's the first pecan pie I have ever had and didn't like. The server was nice enough to take it off the bill. Service both times I have been there has been great. I think if I stick with the sandwiches and not the dinners, it would be 5 stars for me. went to eat breakfast around 1045am granted they were busy but we usually eat fairly quick! but not today! only 5 of us went in and it took a long time once we ordered our drinks and coffee around 20 minutes. then we ordered our food and the waitress came back and said that they were out of biscuits but they were making some and will take 20 minutes and we said that is fine. after sitting for over one hour and other tables were getting the food they had ordered and keep in mind that we were there way before the other tables were. waitress kept saying that we were next on the list. turned out to be a lie! finally after 1 and a half hours we got up to go! never again will we go back! read more
