We were pleasantly surprised. The family and I couldn't agree on what we wanted for lunch, everyone wanted something different. So we were going to grocery shop before we had lunch. When we got to HyVee we forgot that they had a newer dining area. We went in and everyone got what they wanted and then some. It's the same good Hy Vee quality food, I had the chinese pineapple pork, my kids got a cheeseburger and pizza, and my wife got sushi. It was decently priced, tasted really good, and we even had so much leftover we had boxes for home. It's not the finest dining in town, but if you're looking for a place that had a good variety to make everyone happy, this is definitely a diamond in the rough. It's a good place to get a good meal and it has good service, so I'd consider it, good. read more

I'm here in Lincoln for work and after a late finish I stopped by this grocery store after my coworker recommended it. I was kind of in a rush so I didn't get to browse like I wanted to. Nonetheless, this place has a large selection of cooked food as well as groceries to buy in the raw. I mean from what I saw, they carry everything here! Huge wine and spirits selection, cheese bar, candy bar, but bar...... Everything! You can buy pizza already cooked or ready to be cooked. They have sushi, seafood, baked goods. Let's just say I was impressed. Great find for my stay this week and to top it off, they're open 24 hrs. I'm sure I'll stop by again before I leave. read more

I ordered the pulled pork nachos and the pork wasn't even the right cut to be pulled. It was two hunks of meat that couldn't even be chewed. The manager was very nice as well as the waitress in fixing the problem, they were genuinely embarrassed. The manager offered a free dessert in place of it which was fine because I had eaten a lot of my other app. The sweet waitress brought out the biggest joke of a Creme brûlée I have ever seen. See the pictures, it was literally raw sugar on top. She stated that she told the kitchen crew it was wrong before she even left the kitchen and they said just run it. The service was great and they did what they could to fix things, I wasn't even mad it was so outrageous I found it funny. Probably won't be back, I still Love hyvee though! read more

A very nice dining environment.The servers are prompt, attentive and friendly. I have only eaten there once and thought the food was good. The dish I had was the Mac-N-Cheese burger, which is an open face burger topped with macaroni and cheese, very tasty. There is a full service bar, which I did not have a chance to partake of. The Hy-Vee Market Cafe is as good as any competing casual dining restaurant, and in most cases probably better. read more

This small cafe tucked away in the corner of a grocery store known for quality. Originally I'd only even heard of Hy-Vee Market Cafe in Johnston, Iowa well I was away on military duty. After going there and then returning to Nebraska I thought all hope was lost from ever having one of the top three burgers I'd ever eaten in my life. Every time I'm in Johnston it is the first thing I ask my buddies if we can go so I can get a burger. The Market cafe in Johnston not only featured amazing burgers, but there entire menu from breakfast to dinner was solid. Everything I ordered was always amazing and was served as ordered. In December 2017 I moved down to Lincoln from Omaha and the apartments I currently reside at are a hop, skip, and a jump from Hy-Vee on 27th St. driving past one day I saw it, there it was the market cafe at Hy-Vee. Even though I had just recently had a snack, I pulled in and ordered myself a sunrise burger, medium. The burger came out and was absolutely everything I remembered and one done to perfection. Since then I've been in numerous times to enjoy breakfast as well. Originally in December up until about February of 2018 things were great. Service was amazing, wait time was never and issue, and my order was always right. Sadly the past 8 times I've been there for either breakfast or any other meal I cannot say the same. Every time I've ordered something it's been wrong, unless it's pancakes for my son. My meals are made incorrectly, or something didn't even order. Waiting for coffee is like watching paint dry on walls, and the chances that your order is correct is like shaking a magic 8 ball hoping it comes up yes. I'm not exactly sure what happened, whether it be a cook issue or management issue, but sadly this morning was my last time I will be attending the market cafe. I ordered a simple meal off the items available and was still served wrong. My coffee cup remained empty until I was halfway done with my meal and had been empty 10 minutes prior to getting my order. This is not to discredit Hy-Vee as a whole, I've never had a bad experience with groceries or people more than willing to help. This is to let others know that maybe village-inn or some other know family diner may be something considered long before you roll the dice on when, if, or how long it may take for you to get proper service. read more

I didn't have high expectations for hyvee market cafe because it's in a hyvee. It's now our go to place for breakfast food. I've only ever had breakfast. They have amazing skillets. The pancakes are very good and the bacon is always on point. The sausage gravy is always hot and delicious. The coffee is okay but if that's my only complaint, I'm okay with that! Please go and try the breakfast! Did I mention that it's very nicely designed as a sit down restaurant? It's very comfy. Decent amount of seating. Has a fully functioning bar as well. I plan on trying the dinner menu sometime soon. Will update then. read more

For being inside a grocery store, just how good the breakfast food is, is quite an unexpected surprise. I recommend the smothered hash browns. Eggs are cooked exactly they way you want, it's clean, lots of space, absolutely recommend. read more

My family and I have visited the Market Cafe on N27th. So far it's been awesome and a place that we look forward to attending on a regular basis. The food is good but the service is great. I had the Asian Peanut Chicken as a wrap and sweet potato french fries. The fries were well seasoned and went great with Ranch dressing. Zenaida is in line for my server of the year. She works hard, is friendly and goes out of her way to give personalized service. She was friendly with all customers that she came in touch with. I've had good luck with the Market Café. I have always enjoyed the salad bar so I do the one-time trip and go in there and eat it. I haven't tried the food, but it's clean and the service is fine. Again, I go for the salad bar which is stellar. read more

The Chinese food sucks. It wasn't fresh when me and fiancé at that time went to dine. Could barely eat it cause it wasn't good.

We ordered the Thursday breakfast double play: 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 meats, coffee, toast. These are the BEST pancakes in Lincoln. So fluffy, full of flavor! I was impressed. My hashbrowns were the perfect combo of crispy, buttery and everything was piping hot. They have an excellent chef who pays attention to the details. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, friendly.
