Everyone who works there is professional with safety as the literal top priority. I taught my kids to shoot there. In past ~5 years or so, builders have built homes about a mile away. Northwest ISD has built a school. Country acreage and fields still surround on all sides. Two bullets were found at the new school, and the assumption is that it was bullets from the public range which has tall berms and does not directly have line of aim to the school. This range's presence is not a safety issue. For folks are concerned about this, consider having NISD foot the bill to build bigger berms or indoor shooting range for Quail Creek. Why not? NISD is already spending our tax money like water.

Northwest ISD says it tried to work with the owner on safety improvements and couldn't even get a commitment. The district isn't asking to shut the range down. They're asking for reasonable safety measures to keep bullets from leaving the property. How is that even controversial? Every gun owner knows you are responsible for where your rounds go. If there's a credible possibility rounds from my range could be reaching a middle school, I'm doing everything possible to make sure it can never happen again. I'm not making the school district sue me. I support gun ranges. I want this one to stay open. But responsible gun ownership means taking safety seriously, especially when kids are involved. Fix the damn problem.

The only compliant, granted a very significant one, was that their Air Conditioning in the private suites was NOT WORKING. There was NO mention of this when we signed in online. Further, NO ONE at the counter mentioned this to either of us when we checked in -- perhaps they thought we might -- somehow‍, not notice, that it was over 100° inside of the private suites/indoors?? When we checked out, I said to my brother "I'm guessing they'll likely 'comp us' for half or maybe all of the range fee (as we bought ammo, targets and supplies too) because of the hours long sweating in the un air-conditioned private suites?" ...But NO, no such accommodation was made. I have to say, THAT was an EXTREMELY POOR CHOICE for Shoot Smart to make. I have been going to that range for many years -- and yes, they knew it at the time. However, I may very well NOT be going back.

One example is when I was there yesterday, looking to purchase a gun which I have purchased many guns there, as I was looking at it and the young lady that was helping me ask me to make sure I keep the gun pointed down, OK I get it but it's empty and has the plastic piece in it and then the next guy as I'm sitting there is also looking to purchase a gun and he has it pointed at her and all over the place for several minutesand doesn't say a word to him! Also with our membership, we get 5% off gun purchases and on my last purchase, I asked them what they could do on a used gun I was looking at just to see if they could come down on price and they gave me a price acting like it was a great deal but shorted me $14 of even the 5% that I'm supposed to get on the gun. These are employee issues and not facility, as far as the facility is concerned I've had no issues.

I promise you walk in and do a price check and they have the best prices. Very easy parking in this area, it is also next to a pawnshop. They seem to have a very loyal client base, they seem to know a lot of people by first name. It was busy when we came in but it doesn't mean that we weren't helped. Chris is so nice and he really knows his stuff and we could definitely feel his passion. We will definitely be back! My brother and I decided to go shoot and we showed up and there was 5 people just sitting around (some I know are certified RSO's) and only half the range was open. We were told there was going to be an hour wait, I responded ok sounds good and the manager responds back with something along the lines of ok bye. I had to clarify that I still wanted to shoot and what pisses me off the most is that we had a lane less than 10 minutes later. It was like he was trying to get rid of us. We then go in to shoot and come out to rent some different guns and he keeps skipping us in line and helping other people check in knowing we're in line. Also there was someone shooting with a "Charlie Kirk Deserved It" shirt which is concerning. Don't get me wrong I love almost everyone else that works there but this guy should not have a job. I canceled my membership and my brother canceled his before we walked out the door.

I think what makes me most excited to go to Alpine is taking advantage of the clay shooting range. You do have to buy their in house clays but definitely nice to be able to do while already shooting. Compared to other ranges Alpine allows you to freely move and touch each part of the range for a very affordable price of $20 and some change. If you're not wanting to shoot high valued ammo they have ammo dispensers that you can buy per pound. With a wide selection of guns to rent and sale, & awesome products to purchase. Drive through the blue gate to the private parking lot. Once you enter, you're greeted by one of the seasoned and knowledgeable staff members. You can tell that they're used to seeing regulars, but they'll "gun talk" with you, until you're blue in the face if you want. Pricing is much fairer here than other places (see pic). I brought my own guns and ammunition to shoot, but they have a nice selection of firearms to rent if you aren't a connoisseur ;) There's ear covers and goggles (complimentary and required) if you did not bring your own. It is a pretty "tight" place, but the stalls (4/per room) are spacious enough to shoot and reload. I love the digital target screen that allows you to adjust the distance of your target (see pic). Minus the men folk using the ladies room (put the seat down plz -_- lol ). This place is very solid.

Grant was able to accommodate the short timeframe we had and did an exceptional job of planning hybrid training sessions covering the handgun, holster and rifle used by the law enforcement agency to which my grandson is applying.
