I stayed here for five nights and enjoyed my stay. Kathryn at front desk was great! She checked in via text twice during my day and responded quickly to a minor issue I brought up. On another occasion I brought up to staff that there was dirt being tracked in the stairway and onto the landing area of the carpet and it was taken care of by the time I got back a couple hours later. The room, one bedroom, was nicely laid out. Bath vanity nightlight is a nice touch. Nice, hot water too. It was really cool to have two types of pillows on the bed and the pillowcases actually tell you if they're firm or soft. Bed was very comfortable. I found the room to be quiet other than a little road noise. In the little kitchen, it would be nice to have something other than powdered creamer for coffee (could have the little containers of creamer that are available at the breakfast counter. And the only spoons were large spoons. Breakfast had some nice options with staff constantly refreshing items. The make your own waffles are always a treat. Only a couple of negatives. The Monday-Wednesday "social" is a nice idea, but it's really just one or two little nibbles. Nothing else. And the with bathroom fan is very noisy. I did mention this to staff. Overall a great option in the area. read more

This is our 4th hotel to live in during the past 12 months (I'm a travel nurse) ! This hotel is clean, homey and staff are so welcoming ! They accommodated my requests to be at the end of a hall (I'm a night shifter) and my preference on charging my card for the room weekly). The kitchens are well stocked with dishes and utensils. The internet is super fast and the other amenities (business center and pool/hot tub) and working and nice. They have hot breakfast every morning and is free. There is a restaurant at the neighboring hotel that even offers room service to us here at the Staybridge. They also have frozen pizzas (that are actually really tasty) that they will make for you right here in the hotel. read more

I though I was coming to a clean, refreshing mind settling hotel but NO. When it was time to take showers the bathing towels where provided they where absolutely nasty they had pubic hair on them and hair oh them ... I was very disappointed but one of the front desk employees were very nice. read more

A very good hotel. The employees were very friendly. Not expensive at all. The room was comfy but had a small problem. The cleaning staff missed the corner of the room. There was a piece of bread in the corner. I left it there for the cleaning crew to have a second chance. Who knows. The breakfast buffet? I wouldn't say buffet. I would say continental breakfast. It had sausage and egg. That is it. But it was all you can eat. Lol. I gave five stars because of the employees. Three stars for the cleaning staff. And three stars for food. Very poor front desk help...asking for blankets and received nothing...there was smoking in the hall while clearly stating no smoking

This hotel is in need of some remodeling and renovations. It is really starting to show its age. It was fairly clean but it was hard to tell with the fact that a lot of the things are so old in the room. Our air register was so dusty that I had to take a washcloth and clean it because it was so gross. It does provide more space for families and has nice amenities. read more

This hotel was great to stay at. Great location and quiet rooms. I loved that our room was separate from the living area and having the kitchen was awesome. At check in they also let me pick which part of the hotel and floor I wanted a room in. Only complaint is the breakfast spread is nice but could use a little changing up from day to day. Mon- Wednesday's they have free dinner that they serve from like 5-7 which I think is great! I usually prefer Hampton inns but definitely look to stay with this chain in the future. read more

Great stay. We booked the 1 bedroom suite and it was ample space. Very quiet on the top floor too. Monday-Wednesday they offer a early dinner/snack which was always nice. The breakfast were OK we really just went down for coffee as we had a room with a kitchen. The pool was clean, warm water but very high chlorine levels- skin was very itchy upon entering pool. Any beat the location tho. We were able to see many things with a short drive. We stayed 4 days with no issues at all. read more

Stayed here for 3 nights. We found the rooms small, but I did say rooms. We had a one bedroom with a kitchen, which was convenient. What I would have liked more was more checking in on the pool, as they were short towels and I didn't think the pool had enough chlorine. What I really liked about this hotel was the breakfast, which had everything I would want. We'll keep this hotel chain in mind next time we travel. read more

We stayed here on a Saturday night on our way back home after a long trip with any different hotels....this one was my favorite! The staff was absolutely delightful. Each time we walked by they had a pleasant thing to say and were more than willing to help with recommendations for the area. Everyone we encountered was very nice. The room was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable. We heard a few noises but overall it was pretty quiet. Our kids slept on the pullout and nice clean sheets were provided as well as pillows and a blanket. I was a little concerned that they would hurt themselves on the sharp pullout corners but all was well. I LOVED the fitness center, the pool and the FREE washer and dryer. Free!!! And the washers/dryers were nice....not the old cruddy kind. Well played Staybridge! Breakfast was pretty awesome...lots of options. I have generally stayed at the Crown across the street, but my company has a direct bill with this hotel. I'm glad they do! It's less expensive then the Crown and the rooms were smaller, but felt nicer. The kitchen was a nice surprise, stocked with a full sized fridge, a 2 burner stove and a dish washer. Not to mention it was stocked with pots, pans, dishes and silverware. I would go out of my way to stay here. It was clean, and the bed was comfortable. All in all, it was a good experience. Stayed here for one night June 29th. I had no reservations after coming back from the northern part of MN. Stopped on the side of the road, pulled up yelp and located this place. Cold called the hotel and was able to get a great rate since it was going on 10pm. Front staff was more than nice when I checked in. Room was appointed nicely, king size one bedroom with a kitchen. I just needed a bed and shower. Breakfast; nicely laid out. Eggs, Bacon, Waffles, plenty of fresh fruit and juices. Hot oatmeal. Basically, enough to fill you up and get you on your way. Location is close to Mall of America and the airport. (althought I did not go to either). I would stay here again. read more

Yes, I would stay here again. Well, I should qualify that; my stay was for a sales/marketing meeting and I didn't pay. But I'm guessing that the corporate rate for a suite is a buck fifty, and that seems reasonable enough to compel me to stay here again. And although I seldom if ever take advantage of the kitchens in this type of place, I guess a full size fridge and some utensils can come in handy. The room had a nice, well lit work area with free wifi, a comfortable bed (despite the dreaded 30 lbs duvet), and a nice flat screen. The bathroom was reasonable and the complimentary breakfast is several levels above the average. Additionally, the folks that are employed here a very nice, and there is a good fitness area, cum laundry room with high end Precor equipment. read more

I am the pickiest hotel guest ever, and The Boyfriend is a close second. And this place completely met and even exceeded our expectations. Check-in staff was quick, friendly, and helpful. They'd even honored my on-line request for a quiet room - that NEVER happens. The room was clean and comfortable. The whirlpool and pool were clean and well-maintained and there were lots of towels available in the pool area. The breakfast buffet was fresh and tasty - waffles, eggs, sausages, yogurt, oatmeal, fruits, juices, coffee, bagels, toast, etc. yum! We would definitely stay here again. read more

Will NEVER book here again. We first got a call from the hotel confirming that we needed all the rooms we booked. Then they called us back and said we could only have one room. As we scrambled and tried to find alternate plans, they called again and said now there were no rooms. They had zero problem leaving nine people, 230 miles from home, with nowhere to go at eight o'clock at night. We talked to multiple people, including a manager. No compensation or alternative was offered. read more

The staff was/is amazing. Go out of your way to make you happy. I bought groceries but didn't want to buy a butter for 2 tbs. they went in the back fridge and got me butter. We grilled steaks on the grill. I couldn't find seat cushions, the guy walked me over to them instead of sending me on a goose hunt. Room had silverware, plates, bowls, pot and pan. Just like home. Though could have used 1 more pan though to cook 2 veggies at once. Breakfast was a great selection. They think of everything. A ton of different items for those who wanted to flavor their oatmeal. Business center was a good size. 2 computers. Quiet. Tea, hot chocolate and coffee left out at night so when you come back at night and have that taste, it's available. This is by far one of the best hotels I've stayed at. I would come back for sure. Price per night was great. We saved tons of money cooking in room versus going to restaurants every night. Nice fireplace and fountain outside do you can relax outside, not just confined to your room or the lobby. Highly recommended. read more

I am a IHG Staybridge and Marriott Courtyard fan, true enough. On a visit to finish a birthday for daughter to the twin cities we stayed in two separate rooms at the Bloomington Staybridge. About 4-6 miles from Mall of America via some American Parkway that serves as a kind of oversized frontage road for I-494 that partially circles the twin cities. Both rooms were clean with plenty of suite features, like stove top, full fridge, dishes and utensils a plenty. Plus the other usual extras e.g. microwaves coffee makers etc. Yes, they did not forget the simple but useful bottle-can opener. The bathrooms were slightly smallish where one has to do a little dance in a small space to get the bathroom door closed but the vanity sink area was very nice and spacey enough for two. Strangely, our queen bed was such that when I sat on the bottom the top of the bed took off like a see-saw making me wonder what that was all about since my daughters identical bed in another room didn't perform the same trick. Maybe it's due to the chance that we pulled the room that backed up to the two elevators in the hotel and as they informed the Ms. we could change anytime, I was tired and didn't want to hassle with another move. So since this room has a history in the hotel being adjacent to the elevators I speculate that if there was a strangely performing bed that it might end up in this room. But I have no knowledge of this. The hotel has 5 floors and I have no idea what kind of rooms are directly above our 2nd floor room. So for certain busier hours of the day elevator noise was there for us to enjoy. Just thought I'd tell others of this so they know about this ' feature ' . My daughter whose door opened across from the elevator hallway experienced no such elevator noise. So this really doesn't effect this review, just a note. The other work that should be done at this Staybridge is to beef up the morning breakfast routine some. Most of the food is excellent and it's a clean environment so this is a true feature that no doubt can or is incorporated into the rate structure. If there is a problem then the problem is the lack of enough help in and around the breakfast area. It seems that other than an unknown labor force in the kitchen-staging-supply area, I counted only one person to race themselves through the morning breakfast rush. I think that two people would be better. If I had that job I think I'd be on steroids to keep up with the food servicing. So although customers had plenty of supply, keeping up with other situations was tough for the 1 person supplied. Also this Staybridge has decided to go with a 4 banger juice supplier machine with only one spigot as OJ. The rest some other kinds of juices. Hmmm. This just seemed bad planning, but maybe I'm not into what juices are popular now days. However I suspect some other principal at work here of unknown intent. One last picky picky thing, yes this is the twin cities in the way northern climes and in the depths of a very chilly winter, (2013-2014 winter season), and no doubt that everyone that works at the complex, (the hotels including an adjacent Hilton brand are owned by some kind of real estate or developer business nearby I suppose as a builder franchisee or some such relationship) is dog tired of winter near the end of January 2014, but I have to say the front walks could have been cleaned off better for pedestrian safety etc. I suppose since we arrived at the hotel as a fast moving Alberta clipper was racing through the twin cities that the cause was there. Still this isn't Atlanta Georgia, this is the north land and they must stay on top of this situation. Other great things, the room lighting and personal lamp outlets were great, every place should have these now days. After all people do like to read during those dark winter days when not out shopping around at the mall of America. Again plenty of heat for the season. Over all the hotel was very comfortable and staff is queued into this mission, excellent customer service. Also, neat little bonus was being in the IHG point system we got two items from the treat pantry per room, nice. e.g. O.J. goes great with Blue Moon white ale. Get the picture? And feed the Ms. with chocolate. Had fun weekend (2 weekend days (Fri-Sat) nights, 2 rooms, okay price though for customers less is always more, $$+1/2$) will probably stay at the Staybridge Bloomington when shopping at the MofAmerica in future. read more

I've been staying here for about a month. The rooms appear to be newly remodeled. Front desk staff is exceptional. The breakfasts are great and free dinners Monday to Wednesday are hit or miss. The only thing that is sub par is the Internet. Even plugged into ethernet, cannot stream Netflix. Overall I've been happy here. read more

The employees here are amazing! They willingly switched my families room to a bigger one because we accidentally booked the wrong one. After a couple hours of being here my phone charger broke so I went to the front desk to see if they had any for sell the man working informed me that they didn't have any chargers but then offered me his to borrow for a little bit until I'm able to go get. Very disappointing. Room service was unavailable when needed. The website says it is pet friendly but the fact that i had a cat left me without housekeeping, and hauling a vacuum up to my room myself. Also, while cleaning my own room i discovered how unclean it was. There was trash under all the furniture and the tub had a ring of hair shavings. All together, this hotel really put a damper on our trip. read more

Terrible customer service. Absolutely horrendous, never been treated so poorly at a hotel which is supposed to be hospitable. Definitely not how hotel staff should treat its customer and their guests. Only continue reading if you can stomach a very unpleasant story. I was a groomsman in a wedding and the wedding party rented out a ton of rooms at the Staybridge for the wedding weekend. The hotel interrupted the wedding's rehearsal dinner (prenup dinner) by nonstop calling and then sending a person over to threaten to kick him out of the hotel the bride's brother & family because his Autistic Son's Service Dog was being too loud in the hotel room. Keep in mind, one major reason the wedding party chose this hotel was because it was supposedly dog friendly (and presumably welcoming to disabled children and their parents). Also, the majority of the rooms surrounding this particular hotel room were rooms blocked off for the wedding party, or rooms that should have been part of the block of wedding rooms because this room with the service dog was also directly across from the bridal suite. If this wasn't the case, the hotel handling of this shocked the expectation of decency, let alone what is to be expected with customer service. The bride's brother and sister-in-law were so traumatized by this experience, they didn't stay at the hotel with their two children the following night. You can only imagine how difficult it was for them to pack everything up the day of the wedding with two little children, one of which is disabled. The whole ordeal made it so the bride's brother missed part of the initial "getting ready" photos for the wedding. If this wasn't bad enough, they also argued with me for 15 minutes when I asked them for the room number for groom's bridal suite, because I was a groomsmen and was supposed to be there to get ready for wedding photos. I showed them my driver's license which had my name (the same name the wedding party was under, not a common name) and I asked them to just call the room and ask the groom for permission to give me his room number. So they finally called up and then reluctantly gave me the room number, except they gave me the wrong room number and I literally walked in on someone else's hotel room and unintentionally embarrassed these other wedding guests, which definitely made them and I uncomfortable for them the rest of the weekend. I wish I didn't have to give this place a 1 star, because I don't like the idea of saying things can't get any worse. But the 2 star on Yelp is for "Meh, I've had better" and that doesn't accurately describe this experience. Things could always be worse. But if you're looking for lodging, especially if you're looking to book a bunch of rooms for an event, stay as far away from the Staybridge in Bloomington as you can. read more

Wonderful service, I had recently had foot surgery so was using a cane, the staff was so helpful, will be here again

Awful experience from start to finish. My family was there for my sister's wedding, and they had misplaced our room. I had my two kids and service dog with me who, we all sat in the lobby for a half hour, making us late to the pre-wedding dinner that I was emceeing. Once the room was resolved, I rushed over to the dinner, where I was pulled aside from my emceeing by a hotel aid who had been called by the Staybridge to let me know that my service dog was causing a commotion, they rudely told me that either the service dog goes (which is illegal) or we do. My first thought was that this hotel prides itself on being a pet friendly hotel (which it clearly is not, but was the reason we chose this hotel in the first place, and the reason my family decided to block all our guests for the wedding there), and my second thought was to what pulling the service dog was going to mean for my son who relies on this dog as a source of comfort and companionship throughout the night. We were successfully bullied by this hotel into moving our service dog back home, and sure enough, my son woke up in the middle of the night inconsolable because his dog/service animal was no longer there. My wife had to scramble in the middle of the night to bring him home, and it threw off the wedding preparations/family pictures for the following day. This is my first yelp, things don't usually leave negative impressions on me enough where I feel like I need to say something, but I don't want anyone else to have to go through what we did. Stay clear of the Bloomington Staybridge, it is not pet friendly as they claim, not special needs friendly, not considerate of weddings, just awful all around. This place ruined an experience that I will never get to replicate in my life (the wedding of my sister), ruined our confidence to be able to stay as a family in a hotel, and were incredibly rude and unapologetic throughout it all. I marked 1 star because it wouldn't let me do zero or negative stars, but it has my lowest possible rating. read more
